GTA:V Is Red Dead Redemption 2.0

CGUK:

"Throughout the past few years a single abbreviation has been plaguing gamers' minds like an intrusive fly, I am of course speaking of GTA: V - Rockstar Games' upcoming action adventure, open-world marvel. Since the game's unexpected reveal in the latter quart of 2011, gamers have insistently Rockstar for information on the game - even resorting to boycotting - throughout the cold, information-starved two-year period."

No, its the most ambitious GTA yet

US8F4713d ago

The problem with this article is it didn't mention what made Red Dead Redemption. Traveling the world with a horse. Can't be RDR without horses.

minimur124712d ago

its has a weapon wheel.......

RED DEAD 2

Piegoose4712d ago

Exactly, if anything the next Metal Gear is Red Dead 2.0

But the whole topic is pointless anyways since they are all going to be good games most likely. And I would LOVE a Red Dead 2 anyways.

Derekvinyard134712d ago

The article states that gta V may have taken some tricks from 2010 game of the red dead redemption....Does that sound like a bad idea to anyone? Red dead was amazing !

Fil1014712d ago

Red Dead is still amazing.

JoGam4712d ago

Honestly, I agree. They are taking some things from RDR but RDR was awesome too. Now will that hurt the game from being GREAT? Doubt it.

Dan504712d ago

Loved the weapon wheel in RDR AND the shooting felt a LOT better than GTA IV.

HammadTheBeast4712d ago

It's not fair to call it RDR 2. It takes the best elements from Rockstar's best work and blends it together for awesomeness.

Max Payne shooting mechanics, RDR Open dynamic mission system, GTA IV graphics I guess improved upon, San Andreas style stats and vehicles, GTA IV style robbery missions and tons of things to do like in Bully.

badappe4712d ago

agreed with everything except the San Andreas vehicles. from what i see so far, the vehicles aspect feels more like Midnight Club.

Eyeco4712d ago

I'm kinda glad really, I was never a fan of the driving physics in GTA games, in fact I thought GTA 4 has some of the worst driving physics in recent memory, I always wished they drove like Midnight Club, i'm glad to hear this.

ape0074713d ago (Edited 4713d ago )

one of the most improved/impressive sequels I've seen in my entire life if not the most impressive one

Ezz20134712d ago (Edited 4712d ago )

RDR is one of the best games i have played this gen
if GTAV is any thing close to it and have a good story and good gameplay

then i will be happy and will put it on my best games list
i hope to god it's not just the hype

Wizziokid4712d ago

God I would love a RDR 2 however GTA V is going to be amazing, defiantly a step over what they have done in the past and a top game of this generation.

Fil1014712d ago

Technically Red Dead Redemption was #2

PersonMan4712d ago

No, technically the first game was called Red Dead Revolver. Then, they came out with Red Dead Redemption. So technically, there can exist a Red Dead Redemption 2.

slapedurmomsace4712d ago

How is GTA 5 anything but an unreleased game?

Rockstar launches official marketplace for mods

Rockstar has launched an official marketplace for "every server and every player" to buy mods: Cfx Marketplace.

I wonder how much of this isn't just taken work of others who have modded for free.

Edit: Also, great way for R* to take popular ideas and build them into GTAVI based on demand.

fr0sty142d ago

What I see happening here is, R* is going to ban mods in GTA6 UNLESS you buy them from the marketplace and R* then gets a cut of that sale.

ActualWhiteMan142d ago

Ah, perfect timing with them taking down the Bully online fan mod. Greedy a$$ company.

Christopher142d ago

It's okay as long as they get a cut of the money.

fr0sty142d ago

Expect R* to force it on you.

Snookies12141d ago

Yep, right there with you. I'll happily donate to a mod creator if it looks really cool, or if I enjoy it. But expecting payment up front? Nope, not touching it.

IanTH142d ago (Edited 142d ago )

I'm not entirely sure how to read this, as it doesn't seem exactly like an exact parallel to Bethesda's paid mods shenanigans.

Rather than single player stuff, this appears to be aimed solely on Cfx Servers. From what I've gleaned, apparently Rockstar bought the Cfx mod team several years ago, coming a few years after weird contentions led them to ban a few of their members. Ultimately, the question is if they plan to keep this contained to only online/servers.

I have to guess to a degree yes. It'd be pretty hard to "force" paid mods for single player when modding files locally on your own machine, but much easier for servers they'll control. So perhaps this is their soft launch ahead of GTA6 online and they'll clamp down more tightly on non-official servers going forward? Ever since they've become a 1 or 2 property studio, I haven't really cared much for Rockstar stuff, so I'm not entirely up on everything surrounding this. Sounds like it has the potential to be problematic further down the line, but right now fairly easy to ignore...I think lol.

PlayStation Store’s top downloads of 2025

O'Dell Harmon Jr. writes: "Before we say goodbye to 2025, let’s take a look back and see what were the most downloaded games of the year. It was a great time for sports, shooters, and some new PlayStation VR2 games. Sports favorites topped the charts in US/Canada and EU, with NBA 2K26 and EA Sports FC26, respectively.

Juggernaut GTA V found a home in the top three for both regions, with new 2025 release Battlefield 6 claiming second place in the US. Fortnite took top place for free-to-play games, and Beat Saber continues its PS VR2 success."

FH5 4th in Europe compared to North America 14th. Not surprising.

LucasRuinedChildhood143d ago

I think it shows how shortsighted it was for Sony to let go of Evolution and not get them to make some sort of competitor (open world Driveclub?) 10 years ago.

bionicstar143d ago (Edited 143d ago )

its a hard bet to make. hindsight is always 20/20.

Christopher142d ago

After Driveclub's reception, hard to say it would have done well enough to compete. It's easy to dream of such a thing, but to make it happen? It's taken how long for CoD to be dethroned? And it was dethroned by Hogwart's Legacy and has gained it right back just the next year.

It’s funny to watch the only games EU and USA agree on was Minecraft and back ops 7 both regions on 6 and 7 spot respectively other than that FIFA rules EU

gold_drake142d ago

I would like to see a list that has both free to play and paid games together, but at least we have this.

To this day GTA5 is a top downloaded game and it makes me wonder if the industry is really ready for GTA6. I imagine almost nothing else will sell during that game's release window.
