Wow.... That means a lot coming from Kojima... Rockstar has outdone themselves it seems with GTA V. That said, I'm looking forward to both GTA and MGS V. I will buy them both on launch, no doubt.

rezzah4572d ago

It doesn't matter what they say, both games will be purchased.

These two games are epic.

Awesome_Gamer4572d ago (Edited 4572d ago )

I've always been a fan of this guy. So humble..

ape0074572d ago

both are LEGENDS, two of the greatest games, i prefer gta but mgs is one of my fav games, just a little step under gta

i'll never forget MGS 2 and GTA 3 days, San Andreas and MGS 3 days and MGS 4 and GTA IV days

can't wait for GTA V and MGS V

refocusedman4573d ago

I have Nothing but respect for Hideo. It takes a big man to state that someone elses product is better. He never said that MGS V wont be epic, he just thinks that GTA V will be better. Alhough it is like comparing apples and oranges, at the end of the day it shows that he is still a fan.

JonnyBigBoss4573d ago

This 1000x.

Meanwhile, Peter Molyneux is somewhere making promises about how revolutionary the next Fable will be.

ZodTheRipper4572d ago

Can't believe you got disagrees for that. We need more developers like Kojima that have respect for each other and not people like Molyneux that just hype their product. If your product is good, hype comes by itself.

As far as open world games - GTAV wins

In terms of Graphics and Story - MGSV Wins

Gameplay - Tie

Overall - Gamers Wins

omi25p4573d ago

Story i think is a tie. While gameplay GTA V wins simply because there is such a vast array of things to do and all those things look to be designed with such attention to detail.

4572d ago
Braid4572d ago

Hey omi,

"Story is a tie"

Didn't you just wrote "I lost track of who's who in MGS" in an above comment?

I don't mean to disrespect your opinion, but if you don't have a good grasp of the characters (and thus the story arc), how do you make a comparison? I agree that there are too many characters and that there is a convoluted relation between them going on, but that's just the beauty of it and why we love MGS games.

The story of MGS is one of the best stories in the gaming history if not (arguably) the absolute best. It's just in another league while GTA had always been gameplay centric. I don't even think they are comparable in terms of storytelling.

BillytheBarbarian4573d ago

Maybe he's hinting at mgs is going to be open world

Pancit_Canton4573d ago

It is an open world similar to red dead redemption.

BillytheBarbarian4573d ago

Nice. Wonder how much stealth will be involved or will they throw that out the window.

Transporter474573d ago

@billythebarbarian

You really need to go look at the new trailer released at E3

Sono4214572d ago

Or just check out the article... they posted the trailer in it.

EdoubleD4573d ago

Watch the trailer man, the stealth is still there in all it's glory.

omi25p4573d ago

Watch the trailer from Microsofts e3 conference. It looks incredible.

SnotyTheRocket4572d ago

Its open world stealth. Remember the OGRE thing Kojima was working on, Open Ground (i forget the rest). MGS5 is Project OGRE. It's open world.

Rockstar launches official marketplace for mods

Rockstar has launched an official marketplace for "every server and every player" to buy mods: Cfx Marketplace.

I wonder how much of this isn't just taken work of others who have modded for free.

Edit: Also, great way for R* to take popular ideas and build them into GTAVI based on demand.

fr0sty6h ago

What I see happening here is, R* is going to ban mods in GTA6 UNLESS you buy them from the marketplace and R* then gets a cut of that sale.

ActualWhiteMan9h ago

Ah, perfect timing with them taking down the Bully online fan mod. Greedy a$$ company.

Christopher6h ago

It's okay as long as they get a cut of the money.

fr0sty6h ago

Expect R* to force it on you.

Snookies1233m ago

Yep, right there with you. I'll happily donate to a mod creator if it looks really cool, or if I enjoy it. But expecting payment up front? Nope, not touching it.

IanTH5h ago(Edited 5h ago)

I'm not entirely sure how to read this, as it doesn't seem exactly like an exact parallel to Bethesda's paid mods shenanigans.

Rather than single player stuff, this appears to be aimed solely on Cfx Servers. From what I've gleaned, apparently Rockstar bought the Cfx mod team several years ago, coming a few years after weird contentions led them to ban a few of their members. Ultimately, the question is if they plan to keep this contained to only online/servers.

I have to guess to a degree yes. It'd be pretty hard to "force" paid mods for single player when modding files locally on your own machine, but much easier for servers they'll control. So perhaps this is their soft launch ahead of GTA6 online and they'll clamp down more tightly on non-official servers going forward? Ever since they've become a 1 or 2 property studio, I haven't really cared much for Rockstar stuff, so I'm not entirely up on everything surrounding this. Sounds like it has the potential to be problematic further down the line, but right now fairly easy to ignore...I think lol.

PlayStation Store’s top downloads of 2025

O'Dell Harmon Jr. writes: "Before we say goodbye to 2025, let’s take a look back and see what were the most downloaded games of the year. It was a great time for sports, shooters, and some new PlayStation VR2 games. Sports favorites topped the charts in US/Canada and EU, with NBA 2K26 and EA Sports FC26, respectively.

Juggernaut GTA V found a home in the top three for both regions, with new 2025 release Battlefield 6 claiming second place in the US. Fortnite took top place for free-to-play games, and Beat Saber continues its PS VR2 success."

FH5 4th in Europe compared to North America 14th. Not surprising.

LucasRuinedChildhood1d 14h ago

I think it shows how shortsighted it was for Sony to let go of Evolution and not get them to make some sort of competitor (open world Driveclub?) 10 years ago.

bionicstar1d 7h ago (Edited 1d 7h ago )

its a hard bet to make. hindsight is always 20/20.

Christopher1d 4h ago

After Driveclub's reception, hard to say it would have done well enough to compete. It's easy to dream of such a thing, but to make it happen? It's taken how long for CoD to be dethroned? And it was dethroned by Hogwart's Legacy and has gained it right back just the next year.

It’s funny to watch the only games EU and USA agree on was Minecraft and back ops 7 both regions on 6 and 7 spot respectively other than that FIFA rules EU

gold_drake1d 5h ago

yeh, football is really popular here in europe ha

I would like to see a list that has both free to play and paid games together, but at least we have this.

To this day GTA5 is a top downloaded game and it makes me wonder if the industry is really ready for GTA6. I imagine almost nothing else will sell during that game's release window.

PlayStation and Xbox's most-played games of 2025 were the same as 2024's in the US, data suggests

Another night of Fortnite with the boys then?

I’ve never played Fortnite GTAV or CoD BO7 but I do own GTAV for PS4/5 because I got them cheap.

gold_drake9d ago

i think we should either take those games out, or make a singleplayer list too ha

badboyz099d ago

I still play gta V alot. The others nah.

Popsicle9d ago

This is why we can’t have nice things.

Tacoboto9d ago

What exactly are we not getting?

Did we not just have a 2025 filled with nice games like...

Silksong, Doom TDA, Expedition 33, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Ghost of Yotei, Dispatch, Split Fiction, Hades 2, DK Bananza, and so many more?

Popsicle9d ago

Agree that all you just posted are great games. Expedition 33 is one of my favorites. Spent a large chunk of time on BG3 in 2023. Another for my all-time list.

My point though not well articulated in the OG post is that we would get more of the games of the quality you mentioned if so many valuable resources were not allocated to FTP slop and/or heavy monetization schemes. Some of what used to be my favorite franchises have been ruined by them.

To sum it up, I would like to see games like 33 outperform the profits made by games like Fortnite so more resources are allocated to great games. When heavily monetized FTP games are at the top of the list, we end up being stuck with a significant chunk of games that are not good. Or worst case scenario games that spend years in development, but get cancelled due to industry trend chasing.

cloganart9d ago

Such a pessimistic view. This year gave so many good games.

Christopher9d ago

Popsicle, I actually think we're getting more great games because of the slop. Developers are seeing that people aren't happy and taking advantage of big AAA studios not delivering for people.

Popsicle9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

Perhaps, and I hope you’re right. A shift is needed IMO
