Three Next-Gen RPGs to Keep on Your Radar

OnlySP: Along with the next-gen consoles coming later this year comes the inclusion of the brand new games in our favorite genres. One of the most exciting genres I am looking at for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One is the RPG. More specifically The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Dragon Age: Inquisition, and Lords of the Fallen. All three have managed to capture my attention and firmly hold it in their addicting grasp.

The Witcher 3 is as good as bought, as far as I'm concerned. It is, by far, the next gen title that I am most excited about.

As for Dragon Age, I heard the first one was great but that the second installment was somewhat lackluster. I played the demo and, while it would be hard to get a complete feeling for a large RPG based on a short trial, it seemed to support the general (rather negative) opinion. I'll keep Inquisition on my radar, so to speak, but I am not expecting amazing things as of this moment.

As far as i'm concerned, The Witcher 3 is the only Next-Gen RPG that has been shown. It looks, and sounds like they're really pushing the hardware.

All the Art styles looks so bland and washed out. It's like they are purposely trying not to use colors.

The Witcher 2 is my third favourite RPG of all time.
1. Persona 4/Golden (highly recommend)
2. Pokemon Emerald (nostalgia = non replaceable)
3. Witcher 2
I have no doubt whatsoever that THe Witcher 3 will take it's place.

The actor who portrayed Zoltan Chivay in The Witcher series of games has died

Alexander Morton, the Scottish actor probably best known for starring in British comedy drama Monarch of the Glen - but known to me for being the hilariously foul-mouthed dwarf Zoltan Chivay in The Witcher 2 and The Witcher 3 - has died aged 81.

Lords of the Fallen sales top 2.5 million

Lords of the Fallen has sold over 2.5 MILLION copies!

As of end of February 2026, the game has officially broken even.

Huge thanks to every player, supporter, and fan who made this possible. More to come – stay tuned!

I don't understand why it's only 2.5m sales, the game was very good even when it launched.

Struggled with past reputation maybe, I think a lot of people were against the reboot from the start even though it was a solid game to say the least. I think the new game will do well, it's the first of theirs I'd consider buying day one.

Multiple reason i would say. It was Decent game, even with its issues on launch.
- The confusion of the title, as it is a semi-reboot/sequel, but with the same title as the first game.
- Because the original was so unpopular it had a hard time finding its audience through it.
- Because it is a soulslike, it has a hard time finding an audience.
- The noise on how the performance was on launch will always turn people away.
- The Game director is quite the personality, which has turned many off trying it out after all the fixes.
- The director going on about not having turned a profit on the game yet, making people think it isn't worth their time.
- The sequel going epic games exclusive, makes many not wanting to support the devs, because games can't be anywhere but steam apparently.
- probably several more reasons, but those are quite a few.

This game is actually so good. Miles ahead of the 2014 game. I'd say its to dark souls what Lies of P os to bloodborne

I can't wait for Lord of the Fallen 2. I liked the first one better than Lies of P and I am glad I bought it day one. Certainly better than the 2014 one. Hell, it wasn't even from the same developer. Lies of P forces you to pretty much parry all the time, meh.
