Why The Elder Scrolls Online Will Fail

Blaine Smith of Camelot Post writes:

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not simply ranting about ESO. Bethesda are one of my most loved developers and I seriously hope they can pull it off. However, we’ve all seen big names enter the MMO world and very few of the popular IP’s ever manage to deliver. This isn’t always the fault of the developers. Anything with such a big following is bound to be met with certain expectations and quite often these expectations are not possible to meet. This is my main concern as an potential player of ESO. I hold the franchise in such high regard I’m not sure Bethesda would ever be able to reach that bar with an MMO. Do you think The Elder Scrolls Online will fail? Leave a comment below.

"Bethesda are one of my most loved developers and I seriously hope they can pull it off."

It's gonna be tough for Bethesda to pull it off, considering Bethesda aren't developing this game.

If you're going to troll comment, do it properly.

Zenimax own Bethesda, the two even share the same founders.

MysticStrummer4695d ago (Edited 4695d ago )

Bethesda Softworks is the publisher.

Zenimax Online Studios is the developer.

Both are owned by Zenimax Media

Mysatic, man, you just proved his point. They're the same organization. Same thing when people talk about Battlefield and EA.

Mainsqueeze4694d ago (Edited 4694d ago )

Zenimax online is the developer, Bethesda Game Studios(the guys who developed all the main ES titles) have nothing to do with making this game. Apart from maybe Todd Howard stopping buy to check if little lore things are in order. Bethesda Softworks is not Bethesda Game Studios.

CaptainCamper4695d ago

Yes. Well done.

Now tell me how many publishers don't have a direct influence on a games production?

MysticStrummer4695d ago

Good lord man.

It was mild sarcasm, and I'm correct.

Peace and good gaming.

Chrom : "I will not fail !"

The problem next gen is that there seems to be more games with a constant online world. As more come out, the market place will get over crowded, and they cant all be successful.

Roccetarius4695d ago

The market is already crowded, and ESO isn't really bringing anything new to the table.
