TGH Writes: "The Worms franchise is a strange one; Team 17 and its long-nurtured baby have been a part of the gaming industry since 1995 and, while it’s had many spin-offs and dabbled in 3D for a while, the idea is as bizzarre and fun as always. It’s really no surprise that it’s lasted through as many iterations and generations as it has then."

This week, you can get Steamworld Dig for only $5, or pick up Worms Clan Wars for $6. Flatout is $2, Flatout 2 can be yours for $2.50, while Flatout 3 is $7.50, and Flatout: Ultimate Carnage is $5.

In an interview with Strategy Informer veteran UK developers Team 17 revealed that they will be taking a year-long break from their signature Worms franchise, after a mixed response to last entry Worms Clan Wars.
When asked at indie event Rezzed how Clan Wars had performed, Business Development head Nick Clarkson said, "Sadly not as well as we'd hoped. As a game it's probably the most complete version of Worms out there, at least on PC. Certainly post-launch the support for it was very good, there was bugs here and there and the team kept on top of it."
I think they named it hoping it would piggyback off the crazy success of Clash of Clans.

Worms celebrates its 18th birthday this month and to celebrate Team17 is holding a free-to-play Multiplayer Weekend on Worms Clan Wars and offering a discount off its entire Worms Steam catalogue.
