Apple Doesn't Care About its Customers

BGR writes:

"We here at BGR love Apple products as much as the next guy, but we think this crossed the line a little bit. Thanks to tip from a close friend of the Boy Genius Report, we've uncovered a truly amazing exchange between Apple and a customer. The customer, an owner of a recently water-damaged MacBook Pro, called Apple customer care to get information about repair costs. Accepting full responsibility for the water damage, the customer was still subjected to confusing and contradictory information about the repair."

Of course they dont. If they did, the would not release the same product 5/ 6 times just to rip off first time adopters. I honestly dont understand all the Apple love recently but their customer service is downright sh!tty.

Breakfast6656d ago

Every Company has there way of making money.

Sometime i think they hold back on some features, so they can implement them an year later.

decapitator6656d ago

Agree with Breakfast somewhat but not entirely. Making money does not mean you need to back stab your customers every time you introduce a new product ?

TriggerHappy6656d ago

"Sometime i think they hold back on some features, so they can implement them an year later."

Which is BS. IF the product they are bringing to the market is not ready, why the hell do they release it then ? and isn't it even illegal to do that ?

decapitator6656d ago

Nah Trigger, I dont think it's illegal. Whatever specs they send to the FCC for approval are what make it to the final versions of their products. So if it's not listed, chances are they wont have any problems with it.

TriggerHappy6656d ago

Well then it's BS because we the customers get cheated.

ChrisGTR16656d ago (Edited 6656d ago )

of course they hold back features. anyone remember the ipod nano? it didnt have picture functionality at first. then they came out with the video function for the 60gig.. but it was nowhere in sight for the nano.. they purposely hold back stuff from the nano version of the ipods. just watch, i bet theyll announce the new and improved iphone in a couple months. slimmer and more features.

but this is an everyday thing. for example , a 2 gig flash drive versus a 16 gig flash drive.. one cost 30$ the other probably like 300$?? but think about it, whats the diffrence between them physically? none at all, there made exacty the same and out of the same parts. they just sell it for 200$ more cause they can.

As a owner of multiple apple products (MacBook Pro, iPhone, iPods) I can honestly say Apples customer support has been good to me. Free case replacements for my macbook etc...plus having a Apple Store nearby makes it all the more easier by visiting the genius bar with issues. Haters will be haters. As for being shafted by being an early supporter of new hardware....thats what you get by purchasing launch hardware. Vista is worthless and microsoft is in no rush to fix that, Xbox 360 still has RROD issues, Sony is launching a rumble controller this month and brought down the price of the PS3 by $200 within its first year.........show me one company that "cares" about their customers and not themselves completely.

The Lazy One6656d ago

You must be kidding yourself if you think they aren't working their ass off to fix it.

Also, 360 doesn't "still" have the rrod issue. The launch ones still do, because they always did. New boxes don't. (some still do, but not nearly to the amount of the launch boxes.)

so many things wrong with that, First, for a new OS , it is stupid to purchse it at launch. Vista was paranoid( security for everything) and stupid buggy. but microsoft has been working to fix that, at least some. patches and updates speak for them selves.

second what other company offers a 3 year warranty? even of the hardware is horrible, at least they have aknowlaged the problem, and have given it a bandaidd, untill they can make it to the hospital. what about sony? " ofcourse the PS2 reads blue disk, our DVD laser is not faughty."

but i get what you are saying, no cpmpany realley is perfect, but from what you sa Mac does a pretty good job.they Mac hate should die down.

ichimaru6656d ago

No company loves it's consumers as much as we'd like to believe. they love our money and gulibleness. a nd once in a while a petition will spark them into theowing us a bone. Apple isn't evil, they aren't the best either though

RecSpec6656d ago

Any company that puts customer service about making money usually goes out of business soon. Or gets bought out by a company that doesn't care. It's just how the business world works. You are just a dollar sign to them.

guy pours water on his Mac.

guy gets told it's going to cost $300 just to determine the extent of his damage.

guy sends Steve Jobs an email asking if they can look at his mac, which he got wet due to negligence and he admits it, for free.

steve jobs tells him tough titty.

website says Apple doesn't care about customers, even when customer's own ineptitude is the one that screwed them.

dear Toshiba,

i took a piss on my new TV. i don't want to pay the fee to have a proffesional waste valuable time on my screwup. please fix it for free.

PlayStation3606656d ago

eww, that's nasty. Bubble+ heading your way. lol

TheDietzofLegends6656d ago

I understand where your coming from, but the guy probably just wanted an estimate on the damage cost. I mean you don't go to a car dealer for an inspection and let them tell you before hand " Well before we can asses your car we have to pay our mechanics $300 to get off their butts so that they may look at your car. Then we car charge x dollars for the replacement parts of the damage." That's more or less train robbery. Obviously this guy needs to take better care of his laptop, but that's what warranties are for to cover the accidental damage. So I sympathize with the guy who just wanted to have his computer looked over.

IanTH6656d ago

I was wondering if ANYONE had read the article. The person was just saying, hey I know I did something stupid and I want it looked at. So first off, $300 seems excessive. But I think the part the person feared the most was this: "I was horrified to learn that there is no system to assess the problem and bill once all damage is known. I am reluctant to put money into a problem that could easily grow."

That to me seems like the customers biggest problem: no system in place where he could find out what the technicians found out, how long it will take, how much it will cost to fix, etc. because if it's too costly he might opt to replace it or maybe he can't afford it at the moment and tell them thanks but no thanks. I myself have a hard time believing a large company like apple doesn't have this kind of thing in place, but if they don't, that is sad and a terrible way to handle repairs.

And I have to say, I don't care if I contact any customer service and say, hey, I dropped my product down the stairs, ran it over with my car, lit it on fire, pissed on it, took the plastic and ashes and made some sort of impressionist art piece and now, for some reason, it doesn't seem to work or I didn't know that it would result in my products untimely demise and cause it to stop working. I would still expect a more courteous response than the one Apple gave for this guy, and this person was in their right to be weary of that repair protocol.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio51d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing51d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9251d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit51d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing51d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9251d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
