Should Google play with a console?

With the recent rumours that Google are developing an Android gaming platform, Joe Thomas takes a look at whether releasing a console would be a good idea for Google.

Android is a great platform and I would love to see see what the money and power at Google could do for gaming.

Indeed. But I think they need to look at making games first, then after a generation of understanding the customer base, set out to create a great platform... possibly with Valve? But, I think they need to get their feet wet with developing first.

I personally don't want a console just to play phone or tablet games on my TV. If they do make a console, I want play games like The Last of Us, Halo, Killzone, Uncharted etc. They can also add those android games but im not buying if its just Android games.

I think Google would be smart enough to score some considerable games if they were going to release a console.

Google can make what ever console they want doesnt mean I have to buy it.

What's your point? No one has a gun to your head to buy anything.

Apple is the real Trojan horse or so to speak if a company would get into gaming but it wouldn't be the convientional way.

The release of an Apple TV or the actual TV they have been rumored to bring could be Apples way in.

I am Android all the way but i would never buy a console if it is just going to play the games that are released on PS4. What Google should do is make a video game development devision and make software for the next gen systems. With their budget and developer expertise they can make great engines and remarkable games.
