I only played a couple but loved the ones I did play. Silver, Black 2, and Pearl.

I also played Coliseum on GameCube and that game was awesome. The WiiU needs a 3D Pokémon game like coliseum and XD Gale

I've played most of the handheld games and been watching it for 14 years, its become a habit to wake up on Saturdays and watch some pokemon for me.

Yeah Pokemon is just great. And with the release of X and Y its going to be as big or bigger than its ever been!

I think it's cause each time you play it you can have a different experience, with a different team and new a strategy. There are so many possible combinations and options in terms of selecting your six and their moveset and it's always exciting when you catch a new potential team member. Plus their is the competitive aspect too.

Stopped playing after Ruby, personally.
Do want to check and X and Y though. See how I take and how the series has moved forward.
Still very much fun games.

3 reasons why Pokemon is still popular

1. It's good - the game's RPG mechancis are solid, even in today's market.

2. No competition - Nobody has come and made a better multiplayer came in the same field. Collecting, trading, and battling monsters.

3. Endless replay value for little money - With MMO's you have to constantly sink money into it. WOW, SWOTOR, ect. But with Pokemon you get a full game for $30 with limitless replay value when you consider the amount of Pokemon in the game, and the multiplayer capabilities. It's the perfect storm.

I love and will continue to play Pokemon forever. The competition, value, and mechanics make Pokemon one of the best franchises in gaming, and I don't intend to stop playing anytime soon.

It's addictive and online battles are fun. I will be buying a 3DS for X & Y.

Because of new generations of kids but also each game adds new elements to it completely changing the game. Pokemon works for both casual and hardcore players. It's a came you can casually play over time but the gameplay and battles go really deep. When you see a tournament battle it's like a completely different game because of how well people know the depth of the game.

If they made a free roam RPG pokemon game with free roam multiplayer with the same balance and mechanics as the regular pokemon games they would sell WiiU for years lol

Because the kids who got into that show are now grown adults buying and supporting it still.

I remember getting Pokemon Red with my Gameboy Color when I was young. Pokemon to me is the video game equivalent of comfort food. The basic premise is always the same, it worked before and still works today. Something about being young and growing up with companions hits home, there's a weird attachment you make with your team.

Whatever attracted us in the first gen still attracts others in the fifth and beyond. The first/second gen were such solid titles all Gamefreak needs to do is add extra features and we will accept it.

Because you gotta catch 'em all.

I never really got into pokemon. I was to old for the cartoon, then card game and finally video games. But I do understand how the people who love it are still into it. Not easy to give up something you have grown up with and really no reason to if the game quality is there thAn why not support it.

they fucked it up after the 90's barely hung on early 2000's then turned into crap with the show and games. every game movie that comes out this is what they think (i know lets just add another crappy legendary pokemon and keep everything the same cause we ran out of effing idea's and lost creativity)dont get me wrong i love pokemon it was one of the things that was a big part of my childhood but i love it for what it was not what it is now.

Addictive gameplay I think. Plus there's playing Pokemon, and then theres PLAYING Pokemon. A lot of people don't give it credit for being one of the most in depth RPG's on the market.

It's the perfect example of a game that sets the bar of entry so low that anyone can pick up and play while retaining elements that only a subset of god tier players who devote enough time to it can get their heads around. The depth is staggering and adding 100 new monsters every generation is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of how much that changes the game overall from one title to the next.

Loved the series since I got Red version in 1999 and have been a devoted fan ever since. I'm 21 this year and yet Pokemon X/Y is probably one of my most anticipated titles of this year.

Which makes you wonder why there aren't many games that try to mimic it (in recent memory) despite the flood of sci-fi or military shooters we get year in and year out.

Because it is fun.

I don't know why it's ever been as popular as it's been. It doesn't appeal to me, one of the few Nintendo franchises I don't care for.

It's fun that's enough for me.

to answer the question: because for every one who grows up and graduate from doing "pokemon", a new child is born, a kid is introduced to Pokemon and loves it, a new adult is introduced to it, and loves it to. that makes 1 leaving the franchise behind, and about 1 or more replacing him.

All I want is Pikachu to be able to follow me like Pokemon Yellow Version. :'(

because it really is the perfect rpg with lvling hundreds of characters.
