If you can afford a powerful PC go ahead by all means.

FriedGoat4724d ago (Edited 4724d ago )

Great for playing the multiplatforms, but the PC has no worthwhile exclusives anymore. I started as a PC Gamer 20+ years ago (and Atari before that) and the PC is a husk of what it used to be. Where are the Quakes, Dooms, Monkey Islands and Grim Fandangos? I still maintain my computer and it's a beast, but the majority of multiplats don't live up to the exclusives.

Enjoying the last of us currently, haven't played anything of that quality on the PC in.... I don't even know how long.

CGI-Quality4724d ago

- Hard Reset?

- Planetside 2?

- Arma?

-Amnesia?

No worthwhile PC exclusives? In what alternate reality?

Ve_Chuy4724d ago

so Pc has no good exclusives? what about starcraft 2, the coming company of heroes 2, the new command & conquer and the others thousand amazing strategy games that dont exist on consoles civ 5, total war, Age of empires, etc. What about a triple A game like star citizen, what about the thousand of awesomes FREE TO PLAY! games like hawken, Dota 2,n Team fortress 2, Hon, Tribes: Ascend, LoL, war of warplanes, etc. And dont make me start with the mmorpg games, Are you kidding dude?

BattleAxe4723d ago

^^^

Many of those free to play games will probably make their way over to the PS4, and Planetside 2 is already confirmed for PS3.

Games like Company od Heros, Command and Conquer and Star Craft are exclusive to PC, but you need to like to RTS games to really give a damn about them.

Hard Reset was a very short game which got a mediocre meta score, Arma is not highly rated because its boring as hell and caters to a niche group of gamers, and Amnesia I don't know much about, but its also a niche game being that its a survival horror game.

I love gaming on my PC, but lets face it, the best exclusive games are not on the PC. I do hope that this changes in the future, but since the PS4 and Xbox One are essentially PCs , its so easy to port from one system to another, which means you will see even fewer PC exclusives going into the future. The only way this will change is if Valve starts making their games PC exclusive, which isn't going to happen.

FriedGoat4723d ago

I'm not saying it doesn't have games, I have and still buy, loads of PC games, and have tried loads of free to play. Nothing gets me hooked though, it's good but not great. Maybe its just nostalgia to the older PC days, but PC isn't as good in my eyes, graphically? yes, actual gameplay? no.

slayorofgods4723d ago

The Titan gpu is still a ways off from the mainstream pc audience because of a 1,000 price tag but...

This will be the first console generation ever to start behind pc gpu capabilities. I was actually surprised to find that software on pc's were surpassing consoles.

I can afford one and I do. I prefer PC above all else but I still enjoy the consoles once in a while too.

GentlemenRUs4724d ago

Took the words right out of my mouth!

MadLad4724d ago

Indeed.
Console for their exclusives, PC for its exclusives and 3rd party titles . . . considering they aren't botched ports.
It's a win-win.

Corpser4724d ago

Did you think console gaming is cheaper? Add the $60 a year for xbl and $50 a year for ps+ to play online and they don't seem cheaper anymore

ATi_Elite4723d ago (Edited 4723d ago )

ALL I play is PC Exclusives for the most part.

Games like:

Guild Wars 2, DayZ, Arma 3, TERA Rising, Tribes:Ascend, WarFace, Natural Selection 2, Hawken, Project Cars, Firefall, Company of Heroes 2, and looking forward to StarCitizen, X-Rebirth, Starforge, Total War Rome 2, Darkwood, Amnesia a Machine for Pigs, and Survarium.

PC Gaming has the Games and customization that "I" like plus ALL the multiplats which makes up 90% of console gaming.

E3 best games ALL have PC ports, Destiny, Titanfall, BF4.

So exactly what am I missing by being a Exclusive PC Gamer? NOTHING! A few Sony Exclusives LOL that will NOT provide me 200+ hours of gameplay like Arma 3 or Guild Wars 2 so I'll pass.

Hassassin4723d ago

+1 to Star Citizen && Amnesia ;)
(imagine those two with the Oculus Rift)

FriedGoat4723d ago

Amnesia doesn't even support stereo 3d, let alone oculus rift. That's the problem you get when you render in OpenGL

Razputin4723d ago

FriedGoat and BattleAxe get downrated for telling the truth.

Now don't get me wrong, I actually just started playing the Total War games and CivV, and while yes, I do enjoy them, they aren't for everyone.

The PC has no amazing exclusives anymore. I'd like to see half of the consoles made for PC. And there are a lot.

Just look at a upcoming release chart for consoles vs PC and you'll see its true.

Don't kid yourselves guys, its not like we are going against PC gaming or bashing it, we are just simply telling the truth.

Hell even Relic Entertainment (developer of Company of Heroes) said that they cater to a small niche. They aren't dumb.

If piracy wasn't so ridiculous and Publishers weren't so dumb as to seeing piracy as a loss, and not actually realizing it would have been a loss and not a profit anyways, we could see a lot more PC titles.

Look at EA, they pretty much stopped with their sports titles on PC, all we get is Tiger and FIFA, and they are always half ass versions compared to consoles.

Just an example I can go on for days.

ATi_Elite4719d ago

Dude the Piracy issue is SO LAME!

90% of console games are on PC. E3's best Games MGS5, Destiny, Titanfall, BF4 all have PC version meanwhile PS4 is NOT getting Titanfall.

No amazing Exclusives: Starcitizen, Starforge, World of Darkness, Total War Rome 2, Amnesia A Machine for Pigs, Path of Exhile, Firefall, STALKER series, etc..

over 6 million Russians are playing The Region Locked, PC Exclusive WARFACE!

name a Region Locked, console Exclusive with over 9 million gamers, name a console exclusive with 9 million gamers.....YOU can't cause NONE exist.

I hope so.. PC gaming forever.

BattleAxe4723d ago

That doesn't look like a very enthusiastic comment....

Dogswithguns4723d ago

Okay.. PC gaming 4EVAH!!!!... fixed. ))

TOSgamer4724d ago

The last real hold outs for pc ports are the Japanese publishers. Capcom jumped aboard a few years ago and Konami seems to be following suit. The last major hold out seems to be Square Enix. It would also be great if the smaller jrpg companies considered it.

Razputin4724d ago

PC till the end, but we do need better exclusives, or at lease something.

I would love to see more console games on PC. Just think if Uncharted, The Last of Us, Halo(any as a good port), Gears of War, or even Wii games were on the PC. They looked great for their generation, but could look a hell of a lot better on PC.

I always wondered what Uncharted could look like on PC, also Gears of War 3 which was an amazing looking game.

I really do hope that with this generation of consoles we get more PC games exclusive or not, I just want more PC games. Good or bad honestly. Tired of the very limited options.

MegaMohsi4724d ago

All the recent PC exclusives have been MMO's or StarCraft 2 Heart of the Swarm.

MegaMohsi4724d ago

Why the disagrees Planetside 2 is a MMO shooter, Marvel Heroes is a MMO, Guild Wars 2 is a MMO, Heart of the Swarm came out this year. Amnesia is the lone exclusive that wasn't an MMO or RTS.

Bladesfist4723d ago

Arma 3, Warthunder, Trackmania, Rising Storm, Gunpoint, Shootmania. Shall I go on?

Veteran artist behind Mass Effect, Halo, and Overwatch 2 weighs in on Nvidia DLSS 5

Darryl Linington from Notebookchect.net writes, "The backlash around Nvidia’s AI push and DLSS 5 has opened a broader question in game development. Beyond performance and image quality, veteran artists are now weighing what AI-driven rendering means for authorship and visual control. If a system can add or reinterpret detail after the fact, the issue is no longer just technical. It becomes a question of how much of the final image still belongs to the people who built it."

NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 Frame Gen 5x & 6x Come to RTX 50 Series GPUs + Dynamic Multi Frame Gen

The latest GeForce driver introduces DLSS 4.5 Multi Frame Generation 5x and 6x alongside Dynamic Multi Frame Generation to RTX 50-series GPUs. The former increases the number of interpolated frames to 4 and 5 (between every two rendered frames), further reducing reliance on the CPU.

Big corp bowing down to another big corp is nothing more than helping each other. But try any games it doesn't work

Smellsforfree54d ago

I don't mind frame gen but only use it if I'm already >70fps without it. It is kinda nice but if I see any visual artifacts I will turn it off. Whenever I'm playing games on my 120Hz LG C3 I will almost never use it because frame rates >120fps look really bad. I think spatial super sampling is a far more interesting and beneficial tech than frame gen. Boosting 30fps to 60fps with framegen is just garbage.

SimpleDad54d ago

Tvs were doing this 15 years ago with their telenovela effect... Idk how anyone can play with this on.

There is definitely input lag there and artifacts.

CornholioX54d ago

It's commercial how they show it. Typical any company does that.

Goodguy0154d ago (Edited 54d ago )

Frame gen just has too much latency and visual glitches for me, don't think I can ever use it for most games. I'd compare with it on and off and it's a world of difference in the feel. I need the very least input lag in my gaming. Companies should rely on actual optimization. As for potato hardware, I suppose it could have it's use.

Is the AI Push in AAA Gaming Giving Indie Developers A Golden Ticket?

WTMG's Jordan Hawes: "With the advent of NVIDIA's DLSS 5 tools, and the whole debacle surrounding AI usage in AAA gaming, is this new push an opportunity for smaller studios to showcase they are the ones vouching for artistic integrity in the gaming industry?"

They already are. Indie studios are the only developers that constantly strive to publish innovative and experimental experiences. There has been little to no art in AAA gaming, with just a few exceptions.

Yi-Long64d ago

Indie-studios have been showcasing their creative superiority and bravery over AAA-studios/releases for a while now.

Personally. I have zero interest in AI slop in any of my entertainment, so regardless of what Sony, Ubisoft, MS, EA, etc believe the future is, I'm just not gonna touch any of that stuff.

blacktiger64d ago

Everything you said but for me MS is always the problem.

isarai_lee64d ago

One more thing in a long list of things that already give indie Games an advantage

Miacosa64d ago (Edited 64d ago )

In reality a dev having a simplistic tech statck does not really impact the end user experience. If the game is good and worth playing is what matters. In other words some cooks make care if 2 or 3 eggs were used to make a cake but the person eating it doesn't. And in the case of DLSS 5 the chef is soley responsible for the recipe and how its mixed together.
