This is very true this gen will not simply be about graphics but how we use the tech inside the consoles...

I personally demand for new inovative ways to tell new stories not the same old FPS showdown with a million Hollywood explosions.... I love where sony is going with games like "the last of us" and "beyond: tow souls" these games will surely explore and entice new emotions with us all.

what's sad is the 2 games you mention that are doing new things are current gen, and most the next gen titles shown look like more of the same dudebro games.

I used those games as examples of how sony is publishing unique stories... As im sure you're aware " the last of us" is a critical HIT and im sure sony will continue to invest in mature games alike.

Whats really sad is how you did not mention any of the 50+ tittles currently announced for the PS4.mgames like knack and transistor form part of the variety thats to come on the ps4 which looks awesome!!!!

As a guy i guess i qualify as a dude or bro and i actually play a variety of indie and AAA games.. So. Could you specify what you mean by a "dudebro" game? Because its really sounds sexist and discriminative.

I like to think of next-gen consoles are not all about better graphics, but what you can do in games with more RAM etc. However, I do think graphics compliment games i.e. more emotions. I mean, take the Mirror's Edge trailer, that close up of Faith's face was incredible and I'm sure DICE will be able to pull off more emotions and therefore, I think that storytellers/developers can create more immersive worlds that way. I like to be drawn in to games, just look at games like The Last of Us and Heavy Rain.

In essence, gameplay remains critical. The gameplay has to be there and I think with the PS4's hardware will allow developers to create richer worlds and better gameplay.

"Last time around, we didn't really have that problem. If you think about PS2 to PS3 era, it was all about high-def gaming. You can now enjoy this in high-def. They were fine with the same game they could play on the PS2 because it looked so much better. You can't do that anymore. The games on PS3 and 360 still look OK. It's about what we do outside of graphics that will make a difference, I think."

Which is why Killzone Shadowfall didn't impress me as much as I thought it would have. It just looks like another KZ with better graphics, but still retains that one many army vibe.
