Sony Wins E3?

IGN - How do we think Sony did this year?

Hatsune-Miku4769d ago

sony won e3 since february 20th. yesterdays sonys e3 conference was about handing out nails, hammers and sand to bury microsoft.

Arai4769d ago

Anyone else noticed this during the conference?

"Shots fired. I repeat, shots fired.
'We have one confirmed kill.
'I repeat - 'ONE' is confirmed killed."

On-topic: from the crowds response, I think the question answers itself.

mandf4769d ago

Ms really killed Sony. /s/

0ut1awed4769d ago (Edited 4769d ago )

While PS4 looks amazing and I will eventually own one, the only thing I am using it for right now is a investment.

I already have one on lock from bestbuy and will have at-least one more at gamestop by the end of the day (maybe 2). You guys remember how the 360 and PS3 sold for $3-4k on ebay weeks after launch.... :D :D :D

I have a top of the line gaming pc atm so waiting the extra month or so to get my hands on one for myself is no biggie.

@ mandf:

I don't think people realize you're being sarcastic about Microsoft's claims a couple weeks ago ( http://n4g.com/news/1268183... ).

mandf4769d ago

Information minister

I know but for the informed it's poetic justice.

0ut1awed4769d ago

Lol, disagrees for my statment? Gotta love N4G these days. I just supplied solid logic. If you don't believe me, this is from a article right after the ps3 release...

"A quick survey of eBay Friday morning found more than 10,000 listings for PS3 systems with three auctions won by bids of $15,000 or more. However, it seemed most systems were going for between $2,500 and $5,000, with one "lucky" bidder snagging a PS3 for $2,250."

Lykon4768d ago

@outlawd ... I'd invest in xbones if i were you . In a few years they will be a rarity .

JsonHenry4769d ago

Hands down without a doubt they won. And they did it while slapping MS and their anti-consumerism policies in the nuts.

nthstew4769d ago

Ps4 just killed xbone before it was born...
xbone is dead ..
ps4 ps4 ps4 ps4 ...............

Trunkz4769d ago

I'm a huge Nintendo fan but yeah Sony won big time, Nintendo's Direct was waaaay too laggy to enjoy anything they showed, on my end it did a lag jump to where it completely skipped the Super Smash videos and the thing just ended. What a mess on up on their end, even Xbox gets 2nd place this year....

Haules4769d ago

The guy said at 2:15 MS had more exclusives... lol WHAT!

MS had like 3-4 exclusives the rest was multiplatform games.....

Sony had 9 exclusives...

As far as I'm concerned, they all had some stellar stuff to show. Choosing a "winner" would be splitting hairs.

Simply put, this was an amazing E3 for any type of gamer.

darthv724769d ago

there were some really good looking games that will appeal to all types of gamers.

Who won E3? The gamers won.

Lovable4769d ago

Say that to Microsoft with their restrictions...Gamers won my ass...

PopRocks3594769d ago

I was focusing on the games conference at E3, not the console reveal from weeks ago. I hate the restrictions on the Xbox One as much as anybody, but some of those games are pretty bitchin'. I don't think anyone can deny that.

Lovable4769d ago

@Pop

If we're talking games alone then yes. MS and Sony are about equal. Both show great exclusives and amazing games. But you know the bitter after taste of the restriction will always linger no matter how good the food is.

darthv724769d ago

as a gamer....i wouldnt want to win your ass.

Unless you are really Kim Kardashian.

Aliss4769d ago (Edited 4769d ago )

Yeah, it wasn't necessarily bad for both of them (even if you don't like one of the company) it was just different. Both had good point and not so good point. We don't all have the same interest so it can be hard to judge without taking position.

PopRocks3594769d ago

I went into this as open minded for every side as possible, and honestly I'm not disappointed by the games at all. This E3 was better than last year's on every front. I don't care how many disagrees the fanboys give me. This was an awesome E3 for everyone, not just Sony fans.

tudors4769d ago

Can someone point me in the direction of Sony's best looking PS4 game so far, I have not seen anything that betters Xbox one so far.

ricochetmg4769d ago

The games are about average but " destiny" will tide me over and I have a ps3 collection to finish. GTA , Last of US, BEYOND, and also saints row. All new consoles start out slow. Most One games come out in 14 also.

Minato-Namikaze4769d ago (Edited 4769d ago )

FFXV, Killzone:SF, Infamous, Driveclub. All those games look head and shoulders above anything MS showed.

SexyGamerDude4769d ago

FF 15 and KH 3 only are better than the majority of the games that were shown for the One.

Killustrious4769d ago

@tudors

You should probably get your eyes checked then

sedx4769d ago (Edited 4769d ago )

the last of us and that comes out 3 days

garos824769d ago

what about 3rd party ubisoft running watch dogs and joy division on ps3?
wasnt that impressive?
dont quote me on this but i think the crew was running on ps4 hardware or at least the controllers.

from what ive seen so far, ps4 is way ahead in terms of value

sourav934769d ago

Deep Down, The Order: 1886, KZ: Shadowfall, Infamous: SS, Drive Club, and many more. The thing is, new games will always come, but the killer blow was the price and the information on DRM. Sony took the crown in those terms.

Bobets4769d ago (Edited 4769d ago )

WTF??? really??

Even THE LAST OF US which is a PS3 game looked better than Dead rising 3 a xbone game.....=_=

Killzone shadow fall alone does the job of showing it and god knows how much better looking games like The Order and all the IP'S that sony studios like ND,santa monica,Quantic are working on for ps4 once they show demos.

nthstew4769d ago

Microsoft whole conference was full of mini CG trailers where in the other-hand Ps4 showed in-game killzone, infamous, driveclub and others... sony known for making high graphics games and stop whining just wait for gamescom and tgs they will blow the crap out of your brains...

Why o why4769d ago

Simply put...Killzone......lmao....is that all you've got. I feel for the true 360 gamers but I laugh at guys like you...... no offence

For me, xbox done.

Costs more, has less power, forced to buy Kinect, and it's the most restrictive console ever, can't even lend my brother a videogame. Total BS.

Hope PS4 launches in October

chestnut11224769d ago (Edited 4769d ago )

They Obviously Won These year. Is it even debatable? Unless X BOX One got a "Buy one, Take One deal" for 500 dollars :) . kidding aside. Sony Won these all Kill. No need to explain why in all categories.

Looks like PlayStation took a hit with Marathon and is now quietly adjusting prices worldwide to recover the losses

andy8565d ago

Lets be honest raising prices doesn't do that when no one's buying it. I imagine the profit it greater selling 10 times more at a lower price

Pergele65d ago

Whatever you say buddy, let's all wear the tinfoil hats.

IceKoldKilla65d ago (Edited 65d ago )

LMFAO Your comment alone says a lot more about you than anything else. When has one game not selling 10 million copies made a company raise the prices of their console? Then Xbox would be costing $5000 by now lol. You remind of the crazy drug addicts on the street rambling on about conspiracies. xD You sure you don't need a hug, buddy?

ChunkyMonk65d ago

One game that Sony payed $200 million for. lol
Also, you sure were quick to get triggered. Maybe your the one who needs a hug?

Eonjay65d ago

If nothing else, we should be united against the real issue here. AI and unnecessary tariffs that are effecting all gamers.

Athlon10166d ago (Edited 66d ago )

The price increases are due to the RAM demand associated with AI and the US-Iran war. You can look to any business news website and local news to see that. Heck, even the 2026 Asus Zenbook Duo I've been eyeing has faced delays and has had a price increase of $400; that laptop has two specs. Asus is doing a staggered release with per-orders for the lower spec now and shipping in May and pre-orders for the higher spec that I'm eyeing starting in June. Basically, all computer manufactures are affected. It'll most likely start affecting smart phones too if it hasn't already. I can't remember the last time any major console maker (Nintendo, Sony, Sega, etc) increased the price of their console mid cycle outside of Microsoft just to make more profit.

S2Killinit65d ago

Its not the war. Its the RAM issue.

jznrpg65d ago

War is causing gas prices to rise. Transport of everything requires gas so the prices of those items go up as well. So it does have an impact

Athlon10165d ago (Edited 65d ago )

The blockage of the Straight of Hormuz due to the US-Iran war has affected raw components used in semi-conductor manufacturing such as bromine, aluminum, and helium. Iran had attacked the liquified natural gas (LNG) plant in Qatar which is a large producer (1/3 globally) of helium which is used in semiconductor etching. So it's the both the war and the RAM crises.

badz14965d ago

Oh no...should I get the Pro now before the price increase?

I dont think that'll ever happen. But i must say back in the day, they were definitely trying because they were more cash rich than their competitors.

CosmicTurtle78d ago

I think MS were and still are the richer company. They tried to acquire Sega back in the day (and considered doing so again more recently), they obviously bought exclusivity to Halo which was originally shown as a Mac title. I don’t think as a company MS can claim the moral high ground here. It’s a wilful lack of self awareness.

Of course Sony would try exactly the same if they had the resources, but when the PS2 dominated the industry was in a much healthier place with an abundance of great third parties.

This has been a depressing generation as far as first party decisions are concerned. The fact we are debating business plans rather than which game is better is a sad reflection of the state of things.

Darkseeker79d ago (Edited 79d ago )

There was Nintendo as well, Sony wouldn't have had a monopoly. In fact, the world would be better today if Xbox never existed in the first place. They pretty much brought all bad practices we have today. We might have gotten all of it either way, but not this early. In term of franchises, I don't think there is anything Microsoft released that would actually be missed if it didn't exist. Even Halo the world wouldn't notice if Halo didn't exist.

S2Killinit78d ago

MS was definitely a bad influence on gaming.

raWfodog78d ago

I think almost everyone will agree that a monopoly is not good for the industry. But that being said, the competition needs to be smart and strategic with their business. Simply buying up publishers and traditional third-party studios just to keep them out of the other companies reach is not a sustainable practice. That goes for all parties so don't think I'm just referring to Xbox.

I'm no business guru by any stretch of the imagination but I firmly believe that the best way to drive consumers to your software and hardware is to invest smart in your first-party studios. Give them full support and guidance in making unique, fun games that are only available to play in your ecosystem and the gamers will come.

Reaper22_78d ago (Edited 78d ago )

But first party studios aren't enough. They only make up a small portion of the industry. Without 3rd party there would be no industry for Microsoft or sony.Developing games take time and money and sometimes you gotta make moves to stay competitive.

raWfodog78d ago

Nah, I never said first-party was enough. I said it’s the ‘best way’ to drive gamers to your platform. 3rd-party is a free-for-all and there’s no guarantee that gamers will use your hardware to play the game. If you want to push your own software and/or hardware you need first-party, or at least exclusive deals with third-party studios.

SimpleDad78d ago

They Shure did a great job... 25 years later Xbox is dead.

Reaper22_78d ago

Then why be so emotional and continue to talk about it. Xbox will never die be ause it stays in so many people's head.

lodossrage78d ago

How can you even see him being "emotional" in that comment?

If anything, you're the emotional one, constantly trying to go at anyone that says anything against Microsoft. So when you call him emotional, it comes off as deflection

Elda78d ago

I own an XBSX & I can say it's becoming irrelevant out of the 3 current consoles.
