You know what, that's almost a good thing considering how their later games turned out. All the main talent of Rare has left the studio anyway

Kalowest4723d ago

It need more blood and a darker tone/atmosphere, other than that it looks great.

BullyMangler4723d ago

they replaced jaygo's ninja sword with what appears to now be a pirate blade.

what poop

Timesplitter144723d ago

Actually scratch that, I just saw the list of games the new KI devs have made.

- GI Joe
- Green Lantern
- Battleship

... yeah.
I'd be surprised if this game is even worth a rent.

Mikeyy4723d ago

"

Can you even rent games on the Xbone??? Lol.

Blastoise4723d ago

I'm still amazed this game was actually announced

Never thought I'd see the day

dasbeer884723d ago

Either MS noticed their profits were cutting ever so slightly due to the failed Xbox One debut, or they FINALLY decided to listen to fans for once, either way they want to make money with this new KI game.

--Onilink--4723d ago

well if we consider your 1st choice, it means whoever is making this game is so awesome that they made everything we saw in 3 weeks...

gta28004723d ago

I got really excited when I saw the title and voice pop up but was quickly disappointed when I saw the actual game. It looked like a $19.99 Live/PSN type of game -_-

YungDragon4723d ago

Apparently Microsoft had to settle some Legal Issues with Fox over the name Killer Instinct. They resolved it around April, which is why it's taken this long for them to announce the game.

Qrphe4723d ago

It doesn't really matter, the old Rare been gone for a while now. Actually, it's probably even better this way since Rare hasn't done anything worthwhile in years.

A7XEric4723d ago

Kameo was a great new IP. Despite PDZs horrific story/voice acting was a solid shooter. Viva Pinata is one of the best sim/strategy games of this gen. And even though Nuts and Bolts was radically different, it was still a great game even if wasn't the sequel we all wanted.

I'm pretty sure Rare's Microsoft portfolio dwarfs Double Helix's.

colonel1794723d ago

I love Killer Instinct and been asking for a new one since KI2, however, the new one looks weird. I am not liking the art style and the design so far. It obviously looked like they put it together in a very short time and it is not even in alpha state, but still. I am going to wait, but I am definitely skeptical at the moment. Something shouldn't have happened.

HammadTheBeast4723d ago

I wish they'd keep the original character design.

zebramocha4723d ago

I thought sames as the old ones are not bad.

GiggMan4723d ago

I kind of got that feeling during the press conference. Something just wasn't right but I still wish them luck.

Killer Instinct is like the forgotten cousin at the fighting game family reunion.

yeah they were such good and fun games but they never really reached the mainstream audience. Killer Instinct was widely known and respected.

Cacabunga392d ago

Killer instinct is great, especially on snes but it’s not the most underrated fighter.. for me it’s Power Stone. So much potential in this series

Jawsh666392d ago

Bloody Roar was a game that had a sick concept but wasn’t made the best. I’d say Killer Instinct was the opposite of that, it was well made but the roster of characters were so similar to every other fighting game in that era that it ended up feeling like more of the same. I could be wrong that’s just how I remember it at the time and I played a ton of KI on SNES because it was one of the first games I owned.

PRIMORDUS392d ago

I loved this game in the arcade, my main was Jago, Ultra Combo!!! https://www.youtube.com/wat...

DivineHand125391d ago

That combo was way overkill 😂

PRIMORDUS391d ago

I know haha, I loved Jago.

Bathyj392d ago

You're kidding?
It enjoyed probably more success than it deserved.
Unlike Tobal 2

MeteorPanda391d ago

Tobal 2 was awesome. Sold really well cause art similarity to dragon ball

jjb1981392d ago

I remember trying my hardest to learn that "Ultra... Ultra.... Ultra...." finish. Such a great fighting game.

Popsicle391d ago (Edited 391d ago )

I can tell you definitely got some SNES time in. The slight differences in the ports due to hardware constraints were interesting. For example, the arcade version was Ultraaaa Coooommboooooooo! versus Ultra….Ultra….Ultra on the SNES.

Though SNES overachieved as a port for as demanding as a game KI was.The arcade version was one of the first cabinets with a dedicated hard drive and the SNES version was 32 megabyte cartridge which was huge for that system at the time.

jjb1981390d ago

Yeah, for sure. My local childhood arcade was always packed and it was hard to get a game in but once the SNES version came out, I was hooked. I can still feel the click of the power button.

I'll have to get this! Been a big fan of KI since the very first one.

Petebloodyonion900d ago (Edited 900d ago )

I love KI (still play the old arcade version) but feel like the Xbox version is like a big intimidating chessboard with no easy way to instruct you to play chess.
The game is so deep in terms of little things to do that it makes Smash Bros melee look like a casual experience.
Honestly, doing a combo Breaker is punish/reward by itself but hey you can add a counterbreaker.
Here's what you also need to know
Breaking Shadow-linker
Instincts
Shadow counter
Auto double,
linker, manual
ender
etc,

There isn't going to be any chance of this being played at tournaments unless it appears on all platforms like all fighting games.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH904d ago

SF5 didn’t appear on all consoles and was still played at Tournaments. I’ve seen KI tournaments recently so I don’t think your opinion is accurate.
