game looks quite interesting but too much quick time events and slow downs. at times it looks also very rough where the graphics are concerned.

Belking4738d ago

lol...That's BS. The game is not all QTE and it looked awesome. You guys are hating on MS now. They brought the games for xbox-one and xbox-360 and you're still complaining. The only complaint I have is the launch price but i can deal with that.

Hatsune-Miku4738d ago (Edited 4738d ago )

"lol...That's BS. The game is not all QTE and it looked awesome. You guys are hating on MS now."

@ beling
did you watch the same microsoft event as i did because the gameplay of ryse that was shown had a lot of quick time events. i never said it was all quick time events but i thought there were too many. next thing you fanboys will be saying xbox one games looks amazing or next gen especially dead rising 3,lol.

Count4738d ago

''next thing you fanboys will be saying xbox one games looks amazing or next gen especially dead rising 3,lol.''

Facepalm

mikeslemonade4738d ago

That's just lazy game development. They didn't put in the time to make a better combat system, so they just threw quick-time events to mask it over. Graphically, it was good but not impressive. The graphics is what you should expect from all xbox-one full games, but that was the only game that met the bar.

JokesOnYou4738d ago

This game stole the show for me, there was a lot to like but this has the drama, the gameplay looks badass, and of course leading a Roman army should make for a great story.

bintarok4738d ago (Edited 4738d ago )

Awesome. It could be much better. No complain here because Crytek is always about cinematic action, not a great story maker nor special gameplay maker.

Still, a very nice game for an early phase of next gen games.

SilentNegotiator4738d ago

You can tell that it's still a Kinect game at its core. It's very slow moving.

4738d ago
nix4738d ago

wow... there was a lot of QTE. i saw freaking buttons (to tap) everywhere.. in almost every single fight.

jc485734738d ago (Edited 4738d ago )

I thought even Dark Souls 2 looked and played more impressive than RYSE. RYSE is pretty boring in all honesty.

mikeslemonade4738d ago

I will agree that the world was more expansive in Dark Souls 2 because it's open world. Ryse looks better in general but definitely looks like a clunky mess.

starchild4738d ago

Lol you are a blind troll.

Shadonic4738d ago

Actually they said they changed the gameplay a bit to fit into there limited time frame on spike.

Belking4738d ago

Plus in the interview the game producer said it had combat without QTE. These guys are just hating. When God of War shows a QTE execution they think it's the greatest thing ever...lol MS brought the games and now they are using excuses to hate on them.

husomc4738d ago

it might have a lot of QTEs but the gfx did look pretty good

PrinceOfAnger4738d ago (Edited 4738d ago )

you people complaining about too much qte gow have a lot of qte too and heavy rain which is the whole game is qte.

SilentNegotiator4738d ago

Heavy Rain is story centric, not a war game.

And God of War is a lot faster paced than this game, with the QTE serving as finishing moves that are too complicated to be normal button-mapped interactions.

But nice try anyway, troll.

zebramocha4738d ago

@tru3 hr,beyond two souls are contextual as a button press depending on the scenario may produce varying results.

PrinceOfAnger4738d ago (Edited 4738d ago )

@SilentNegotiator LOL how I trolling? I have a ps3 and I have played all gow games and got plat and I i've never bought an xbox in my life i just hate fanboys!.

abzdine4738d ago

graphics are okay and have you noticed all ennemies have same face.

Quick Time Event: The Movie

starchild4738d ago

You're a major fanboys of the other console so your reaction surprises no one. The graphics looked amazing and you know it.

One4U4738d ago

it looked awesome until the gameplay started to look repetetive and the scripted quick events !

spicelicka4738d ago

I don't think they were fully scripted quicktime events. They looked like finishers similar to assassin's creed. There was some free roaming and regular combo attacks.

I think people are really misleading themselves. Firstly, it's an-up close visceral game, not a button mashing combo fest. Secondly, i'm sure they chose the most linear footage of the game to show off the graphics and presentation. And lastly, it was a damned kinect game at announcement, we should be excited enough that they turned it into controller based game. I couldn't be happier when i saw it.

urwifeminder4738d ago

This looked great to me loved the way they approached the archers the whole feel of the battle and the surroundings the gore this is my kind of game.

CouldHaveYelledUiiW4738d ago

This could be great if they allow player to use tactical too.

I know that the Old World armies were well oiled machines but it would be nice to tinker with the formula-
even if it gets you killed.

I will be looking in to this.

killacal134738d ago

It looks like a fun game for Xbox ONE's players, still PS4 is BOSS.

There's fifteen ancient Rome games?

LG_Fox_Brazil1135d ago

Shadow of Rome was so freaking good

Sashamaz1135d ago

I'm still waiting for the sequel.

HyperMoused1134d ago

Ryse was awesome, i have no idea why it wasnt recieved well and why we havnt seen another, Rome conquered so much, you could take the action anywhere, and it looked great when xbox one came out, now would be even better.

It was a great game, it had issues but it can only go up from here.

crazyCoconuts1390d ago

It was just ok. Looked really good for an Xbox game though

Snookies121390d ago

"for an Xbox game"

Way to subtly throw shade there. It looked amazing compared to any game at the time it was released.

Never played it myself though, wasn't really interested in it personally. Plus it came at a time when I didn't own an Xbox console. But it was at least different than the usual copy/paste games we get. So I hope it gets another chance sometime soon.

Crows901390d ago

It was a crytek game though

1nsomniac1390d ago (Edited 1390d ago )

It was a stunning game on all basis. One of the standout games for Xbox as a whole. I ended up buying on pc as well… and yes nothing looked better than it in PC at the time either. Nothing just ok about it, definitely needs a sequel.

fr0sty1390d ago

@snookies12, don't pretend like the Xbox One didn't struggle with being gimpled by its tiny pool of ESRAM as a frame buffer. It was significantly weaker than the PS4.

crazyCoconuts1389d ago

Metacritic 60, user score 6.4. I'm not alone in putting it into the "ok" category...

VenomCarnage891389d ago

@snookies
Haven't played it but at least you know enough to defend Xbox over it. The game did look good, for an Xbox game. That's not some "subtle shade," it's full on reality.
I remember it being nearly the only graphically decent game on the Xbone for like the first two years after launch, and graphics were that games strength

CrimsonWing691390d ago

I really enjoyed it. Bought it at launch even.

ManMarmalade1389d ago (Edited 1389d ago )

The qte's were disappointing though. God of war was doing it back in the ps2 days. As gorgeous as the game was, the gameplay needed to be updated.

annoyedgamer1390d ago

I really liked the original Ryse but Crytek doesn't have the funds. The mismanaged their properties and let EA raid them with Crysis for the duration of their relationship. Right now they are working on Crysis 4, I doubt they can spare resources to work on a Ryse sequel.

gamer78041390d ago

It would have to be funded by MS, I really liked Ryse sure it got repetitive but the setting visuals and story were good

moriarty18891390d ago

MS should have funded a sequel to Ryse and Sunset OD. Two good franchises they definitely needed last gen.

annoyedgamer1389d ago

MS is too busy trying to become the next EA, Ryse wont be on their list of titles to finance unless it gets a hipster makeover with lootboxes.

darthv721390d ago (Edited 1390d ago )

I recently bought it for the steamdeck and have to say... 60fps is a game changer. I really wished MS had gotten a one x patch or series boost mode option but sadly, nope. Other games that definitely deserve a second chance (esp on steamdeck/pc) are quantum break and sunset overdrive. Both deserved 60fps support on one x / series but you have to go to PC for that.

Rumor has it Crytek had plans for a Ryse 2 but due to the low turnout for XB (at the time) it was shelved. They really should give this another shot. i dont care if its multiplat on PS and XB and PC and Switch... just so long as part 2 gets made.

babadivad1390d ago

The game is automatically boosted on Series X

darthv721390d ago

sorry... but it's not. It still runs at the same fps the XBO did.

lelo2play1390d ago

Game was good enough, not great.
Graphically it was top notch. Still holds well till this day.

Crows901390d ago

It only needed more enemy variety and few more movesets or weapons to use. That would have made the experience tons better.

MadLad1390d ago

It was a good game.
Only time I saw quick time events actually make me feel engaged.
