I'm not following you. On the PS3 people were forced to buy a BluRay player. Sony used the PS3 to push a product on us at the time people didn't really need. BluRay is still the only reason why the PS3 is still over $250 dollars brand new. Sony talked about how much storage space they had on them how much better the games were going to be. In reality they were not better than a 360 game. What I'm saying is Gimmicks sells products, so why keep bitching about it.

Here's my question. If E3 rolls Around and Microsoft has a great conference and shows compelling exclusive games that look phenomenal as "hardcore gamers" do you still buy the console?

I usually buy all the consoles because I like to game on both machines. Although I must admit I like the voice recongnition for the cable guide. I can't remember those freaking numbers for ESPN TBS TNT AMC HBO you following me. Its a gimmick I like.

When this person says they want a gaming console what they really mean is they want a second cable box with enough restrictions to make the Korean DMZ seem like a fun day at the beach.

The reason why it's called One is because they want to cater even more to the casual market, even people who have never touched a controller. The name "one" makes it easier for these people to adopt the machine, as opposed to something called 4 for example. The name implies that this is a "new" device making it easier to get on board.

the fanboy gamers that are still clutching to their old loyalties to xbox will be the dividing force that allow casuals to steal gaming away from the core gamers. (if it was Sony that was doing the same thing, I would have said the same thing about them)

The all-in-one entertainment box has been attempted before and failed, anybody remember the Commodore CDTV or Philips CDi

If their strategy was to be universally hated and piss off all of their paying customers. Bravo Microsoft, successful it was.

many are disappointed in the tv focus, but it's the DRM bullshit and the anti preowned stuff that's pissing off most people.

and on the tv stuff.
you're still going to need another box, either a cable of satellite box.
the xbox one doesn't actually provide you with those tv services, they still need their own box with their own subscriptions, and of course ms will lock them behind a gold wall as per usual.

so the name xbox one is pretty damn misleading when you think about it.
you have to buy the machine.
pay a gold sub.
then pay a separate sub for your cable or satellite.
it should be the xbox three really, especially as it's the third iteration.

although i think maybe xbox last would also be appropriate, because i think it may very well be the last xbox.

and really, when it comes to the tv stuff, it's not much more than a really expensive remote.

Very clever, MS. I hope the PS4 and Nintendo's console can compete because, as a gamer, we need some competition. If Microsoft wipes the floor with the competition, like it did with operating systems thanks to the stellar Windows OS, then we won't be left with many options.

My pc is beasting atm but really looking forward to E3 to see new ms games will get a console for sure forza always keeps me coming back, the only thing that upsets me is more games will be printed if 2nd hand games die bad for the environment plastic is all kinds of evil.

All-in-one is a complete gimmick. The way Microsoft made it out to be at the conference is that we are all incompetent idiots who don't know how to handle all of the electronics in our living rooms much less work a television. "Oh, but voice commands will make things much easier in the living room", says Microsoft. Reality check: being able to use a remote and memorize channel numbers isn't difficult.

If my gaming console (notice the key word, gaming) has some extra features like online access or being able to play movies, then that's cool. I wouldn't mind it if I was just playing Remember Me and I wanted to watch The Avengers after. It's like, "Hey, my console is already on, so I could just use that instead of changing everything up". It's like a small convenience, but at the core I want a gaming console, not a cable box that just so happens to have a few games.

Yeah the only reason I did not purchase the first was because no disc. Does anyone know why no disc for PS3 and a disc for the 360?

Shovelware? This game is freakin sweet. They advertise it as some kind of anime porn or whatever, it has absolutely nothing to do with that. It plays like FF Tactics. The moves are great, game play is great, though can get a little repetitive, but overal its a decent 8. The only thing it has to do with "porn" is that you have to talk to girls, which are your comrades and build up a relationship with them so that you can have a child with them and use said child in the next gen.

The "known as Record of Agarest War 2 in the US" seems a bit misleading as the article doesn't mention anything about anyone releasing the game here.

It's on Disk in the EU for any US PS3 owners who don't want to download nearly 20GB.

They cocked the first's release up badly: 2 years late, only subtitles (because they take 2 years, don't they?), no DLC... unless you buy it from US PSN which gets you DLC and Trophies (No trophies for EU? WTF).

Let's hope 2 will be more consistent across regions.

It was on a disc in europe. Which is how I and other smart people bought it.
