'Metro: Last Light' outperforming predecessor

By Mark Langshaw

Metro: Last Light has apparently sold more units in one week than its predecessor Metro 2033 managed in three months.

Publisher Deep Silver has not released specific sales figures for the shooter sequel, but was quick to point out that its worldwide sales are far surpassing the original.

Although Metro: Last Light failed to match its forebear's opening-week sales in the UK, Deep Silver noted that it has shifted more units in the US than Metro 2033 has in its three-year lifespan.

The PC version is said to have been particularly successful, tripling Metro 2033's worldwide sales during its first week on the market.

Metro: Last Light debuted at the top of the all-formats software charts in numerous European territories, including the UK, when it was released last month.

The game is available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Congratulations for successful sales for a awesome game.

morganfell4742d ago

I am not going to congratulate a game where they decided to sell difficulty levels as DLC.

Give credit where it's due. Blame the publishers. The game is quite awesome.

And don't buy Ranger mode.

mediate-this4742d ago

Not sure about your copy of metro but my copy came with ranger mode dlc included.

aliengmr4742d ago

Not "levels" but "level", as in one, as in the hardest one that few people are going to play anyway.

Nobody gives a crap when games offer pre-order items like weapons. Things that can and will be used by everyone. But a game mode targeted to a specific group of players that adds nothing in terms of actual content, well that's where we have to draw the line.

Great news for them. Loved Metro Last Light :)

Dr Pepper4742d ago

Glad to hear it and I hope it continues. Hopefully with these improved sales, an improved workspace can be attained. Even if they don't want any sympathy, I think they accomplished a lot in an environment not many devs have to deal with.

solidworm4742d ago

and the reason for that is because people picked the first game up used and liked it so opted to by the sequel new....doh Microsoft.

BLKxSEPTEMBER4742d ago

oh and where did you get those "facts" from? out of your ass? i bought 2033 NEW which is why i bought Last Light. Stop trying to stir the pot troll

The Metro video game series started with a humble b-list title, before building a strong fanbase and becoming a pioneer in the industry.

Never got into Exodus, but 2033 was excellent.

kevco33841d ago

Yeah, Exodus just didn't grab me either, sadly.

I absolutely loved 2033 and Last Light, however. Played them both on 360 and then again with the remasters!

anast840d ago

I just started it and it is already miles better than the first 2 which are dated.
