War Thunder Prepares for PS4 With Another Visual Upgrade

Two weeks ago Gaijin Entertainment announced that their online flight simulator War Thunder is going to be released on the PS4, and looks like they’re working hard to dress the game up for the occasion.

Today the development studio announced that the already amazing graphics of the game are going to receive a further major upgrade in an upcoming patch to the PC version, with a radical improvement of the display of shadows in the game.

That tessellation and draw distance <3

Abriael4666d ago (Edited 4666d ago )

Umh, AFAIK War Thunder is a DirectX 9 game for now, so that's not tassellation, but regular normal mapping, I believe :D

It does look awesome though.

Arai4666d ago

Yeah the PC version runs on DX9, though hard to say if the PS4 version does as well.

At 0.03 seconds it really looks like tessellation to me, then again I'm lacking sleep so my eyes could be fooling me.

Agreed it looks amazing and I'm not even into flight sims.

porkChop4666d ago

The PS4 doesn't use DX9, it's using the latest iteration of OpenGL which supports tesselation.

I wish I were good at flight simulators.

Abriael4666d ago

The game has a rather easy arcade mode, so you don't really need to be a master at it :D

despair4666d ago

lol yea Microsoft Flight Simulator made me its bitch for years :(

Will it have Head tracking also? Will be cool if they start implementing Sony's new camera , which hopefully will work in any room lighting situation.

Skynetone4666d ago (Edited 4666d ago )

You obviously never tried head tracking

because they never work

head tracking is in gt5, check it out for 5 minutes then turn it off

im sure it will work a bit better for ps4 with its new 3d camera, well I cant see how it can be any worse then the ps3 camera

This game would be awesome with the Oculus Rift.
