I'll never buy Wii U because i'm not into Nintendo first party software

jcnba284752d ago (Edited 4752d ago )

Thanks for sharing that with us.

kirbyu4752d ago

Any Nintendo 1st party software? Or any from the recent years?

fr0sty4752d ago

Well, it is the only console that seems to rely solely on it's first party to move units. Third parties ignore it mostly. Xbox would be the exact opposite, relying mostly on third parties for it's games. Sony seems to have struck the sweet spot right in between.

That doesn't make Wii U a bad console, but if N's first party games are not your cup of tea, there won't be much else on the console to satisfy you. As such, I can't say his opinion is far fetched.

grailly4752d ago

I dunno, how can you not like any nintendo first party game?

fr0sty4752d ago

I personally think they are great, but if you happen to only be into the dudebro shooter type games, I could see how someone wouldn't be into it.

THEMIGHTYDOOVDE4752d ago

The only difference between Sony and MS for me is that MS are unwilling to spend millions on mostly mediocre IP's!

Theyellowflash304752d ago

Doesn't really seem like you're willing to give their games a chance either NYC Gamer.

Bayonetta 2, The Wonderful 101, Shadow of the Eternals, Xenoblade 2, Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, Sonic Lost World, ZombiU, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Lego City Undercover.... you don't want to play any of these games?

iplay1up24751d ago

Not attacking you, but REALLY, how many 1st party Nintendo games have you played in the past few years? I mean if you have not sat down and I will just name my faves.

GALAXY 2, amazing game. With the Wii having less than half the power of 360 you would NEVER know it.

Fatal Frame, Great Horror game!

Xenoblade, Amazing game! The next one on Wii U looks Next gen AMAZING!

Donkey Kong Country Returns, Great gameplay and FUN!

Golden Eye 007 Wii remake, The game that MADE FPS real (N64).

If you have not played these games then really you have not even given Nintendo a chance and these are just a FEW cause I did not want to go on and on.

PigPen4751d ago

That's a fair enough statement. Nobody can tell you what you like and your taste in gaming. That said believe it or not, there are gamers that will never buy a Playstation cause they're not into Sony's first party. I have never owned a Playstation ever. And to be honest, I don't like Sony's 1st party games. See that, I'm being extra now.

Honestly I give Nintendo props for keeping their systems game consoles. The wii U can play Blu Ray disc game wise, but can't play Blu-Ray dvd's which is not a big deal to me. They kept it simple and thats where I feel the other industries are losing some gamers.

Dj7FairyTail4752d ago

It not Blu-Ray disc. It similar format but not Blu-Ray.
It Nintendo Optical Disc created by Panasonic since GC.
GC 1.5 GB
Wii 4GB Signle Layer and 8GB Dual Layer
Wii U 25GB Single Layer

PigPen4751d ago

Someone that knows what they are talking about. You beat me to it.

CouldHaveYelledUiiW4752d ago

Sony created BluRay. You have to pay them to use the patent and format.

Plus, using their own format makes game harder to pirate.

THEMIGHTYDOOVDE4752d ago (Edited 4752d ago )

Sony DIDN'T create Blu Ray, it was created by the Blu-ray Disc Association.

@ TheMDoovDe

From your own Link Post:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wi...

In the Origin Section:

"The information density of the DVD format was limited by the wavelength of the laser diodes used. Following protracted development, blue laser diodes operating at 405 nanometers became available on a production basis.

SONY started two projects in collaboration with Philips[8] applying the new diodes: UDO (Ultra Density Optical),[9] and DVR Blue (together with Pioneer),[10] a format of rewritable discs that would eventually become Blu-ray Disc (more specifically, BD-RE). The core technologies of the formats are similar."

The Wii U is a console for people who love Nintendo first party titles primarily, with a great 3rd party effort here and there. Someone who is looking for the all in one package, would best be suited to look at the PS4, since you get some great exclusives along with the 3rd party love Nintendo is lacking.

I truly feel we will still see plenty of 3rd party support on the Wii U and more developers will embrace it once its install base begins to grow.

I bought it purely so that I could play the next Legend of Zelda, the next Metroid, F-Zero, etc on the only place you will find them (outside of the 3DS).

If you want a console so you can play GTA, AC, CoD, etc - stick with one of the other two consoles. Us Nintendo gamers are very particular. ;)

Catnip4752d ago

While I certainly agree, give Wii U credit where it deserves it, my friend! AC3 and AC4 are both Wii U titles, and the off-TV play (which is featured in 3 and most likely in 4) is a little "Wii U difference" that I hope we can look forward to seeing more of in the future!

Neonridr4752d ago

absolutely, there are still some AAA 3rd party games that will grace the Wii U (CoD, AC, Splinter Cell, Watch Dogs). I was merely suggesting that the main reason someone buys a Wii U is primarily for the 1st party software. Anything extra we can get in terms of 3rd party is a bonus in my books. But I will definitely purchase the Wii U version of any AAA 3rd party software over any other machine to show my support for it.

Thank you Nintendo for keeping it real. I can ,at the touch of a button, on my gamepad, switch from TV, To the internet to a game. TVii is great and does allot of what Xbox one is doing. TVii is still a work in progress, but it will get there sooner than later. They just need to add the DVR function and that should happen soon.

What my Wii U does best, is play games. This year I think we are finally going to see some really great games on Wii U. Need for Speed has shown us the Wii U is more capable than lazy developers were doing with ports. Now we will see what other things developers like Sega, Ubi, Capcom and of coarse Nintendo 1st party have in store for us. The gamepad offers us yet another choice of a way to play games,we have pro-controllers, and Wii Remotes. Nintendo has offered us different ways to play, and added developers more choices on what they can do, and gamers more options on how they would like to play.

I Do not need my console to actually be a DVR,cable box or Skype (u can have facetime on wii u too). I already have all that. How much is this Xbox One going to cost? How much of the cost was unnecessary for gamers? Gamers play games. I don't want another bill every month for what is supposed to be primarily a GAME console.

Brasi19894751d ago

Looks like I wasn't the only person watching the XBOX revealing thinking, "So XBOX has NintendoTVii now too with voice controls."

Fasttrack764752d ago

Guess what my wii u has? Backwards compatability

U.S. patent examiner rejects Nintendo’s summoning characters patent as obvious: non-final ruling

The rejection is non-final (and even when such rejections are labeled as “final”, the process is far from over, given that there can be, at minimum, an appeal to the Federal Circuit).

Good, as they should! A game mechanic like that shouldn't be locked behind a patent, and Nintendo didn't invent it either.

PRIMORDUS54d ago (Edited 54d ago )

Nintendo wants to keep wasting money on bullshit lawsuits, real smart in this economy. They should put that money aside for other game projects. On the other hand, I don't care if they waste it all either, and they are screwed in the future maybe that will teach them a lesson.

Nintendo Suing U.S. Government Over Tariffs

The fact that you have ANY disagrees will forever baffle me. And to the (apparent) MAGA contingent that exists on this website, enjoy your 8-9 dollar gas.

AuraAbjure79d ago (Edited 79d ago )

Yes, they had better be pissed after Trump told them the way they rip off the USA is over.

EveryPlatformGamer80d ago

LOL I read this on gaff, will they refund the money back to the gamers? highly unlikely. Didn't they just raise prices and pass it onto the gamers? Only Nintendo would send out the Ninjas to the US government.

-Foxtrot80d ago

That’s what I was thinking, imagine them winning hypothetically, getting a s**t load of money back which they would have lost if they hadn’t raised their prices and it’s business as normal.

It would just mean people paid more for no reason since they got the money back anyway.

Outside_ofthe_Box79d ago (Edited 79d ago )

A lot of companies partially passed the cost to consumers instead of all of it. They would still have to at least pay that back to gamers, but we know that won't happen. What's also sad is that prices won't come back down after the initial hike caused by tariffs.

People didn't understand the full repercussions of tariffs. That alone should have cost him the presidency if people knew it was a permanent price hike for consumers

Inverno80d ago

The people should sue these companies for having to over pay cause of these tariffs.

Eonjay80d ago

Naw they should sue the government for forcing the tax to begin with. No one reasonably expects these companies to absorb the taxes. Many smaller companies tried and were shut down or faced to increase prices to try to maintain their business. The tariffs effect everyone.

Inverno78d ago

I meant it mostly as a joke cause we all know the costs of these tariffs were passed onto the consumer. But it's seems no matter how vocal we are here in the states our "representatives" don't seem to care enough to represent us. And things are about to get worse.

Killer2020UK78d ago

The companies were doing what the law required then to do, the tariffs however were illegally implemented. Usually it's criminals we punish, you seem to have different ideas 🤷‍♂️
