Sony did the only thing they could at their reveal, minimize the possibility of negatives and focus on the positives, and they did that very well.

When Sony came out and said "We're for gamer's, we are all about games.", it was very smart, because that is the key audience that will buy that console right away.

What Microsoft did was get the boring stuff out of the way, they ticked off some key gamer's, but they're obviously hoping a killer launch lineup and good exclusives will lure them back, but what I do know is that local news, and outlets like CNN and even my local paper had nothing but positive things to say about the new Xbox and how it was changing the face of the living room.

So if those key gamer's jump in on the Xbox One, and these other types of people get into it as well, I could see it being very successful, but you almost get the sense that Microsoft doesn't look at Sony as competition anymore, in the past maybe they'd respond to some of the more immature comments Sony has made, but they seemed pretty set on course.

If they address the used game fee, and come out with a price point $50-$100 cheaper than the PS4, they'll do well. I don't see any one console being the Lord Of The Rings, but it'll be interesting to see what happens, I believe the Xbox One could struggle at first, if they don't struggle at first it'll be fine, because it'll mean the key gamer group bought one anyway.

Gamers are starting to show franchise fatigue and not to many publishers are taking "big" risks. It could come down to the indie scene which seems to be cranking out sleeper after sleeper.

Yup.! Sony is going down. Having to sell everything from headquarters to studios and factories just to keep afloat. MS's machine will be beast. Games and more. Sonys ps4 is going the way of their phones, tvs and all other electronics that have failed so bad and still are.

Playstation has been a multimedia machine since it's birth and the author and analyst clearly no experience with PSN,PSN+, SEN, or SoE. Sony has all of those things and all are accessible for free aside from Plus.

So the PS4 is not a one buy console. It also has a marketplace which makes money. It has music services which makes it money. It also has multiple movie services that makes them money.

I do believe both consoles will do well in time, However, I do believe the PS4 will do better this holiday season. Early console adopters tend to be core gamers, not the casual or mild gamer. With that in mind, I do believe the PS4 does offer more for the core crowd. I know for me, PS4 is the only system I will get this holiday season, we will see next year on the XB1.

Microsofts vision for the Xbone is clearly very out of touch with consumers.

1. Gamers are the ones who will buy this within the first year. If you don't reach out to them, they won't buy it.
2. No one wants to interrupt their TV watching. If they do, they have a smartphone for that.
3. There is no market for this type of "All In One" device especially considering it really isn't All in one. It does not replace your cable or DVR box. It's all just PR speak with a hidden agenda of selling you Xbox Live Gold subscriptions.

If anything, Xbox One will struggle against PlayStation 4.

I can see One being very successful if cable companies actually use it as their cable box (or lease it for the monthly fee they charge for current cable boxes). Cable companies already charge $400 for DVRs so why not just use an Xbox instead.

Sony can easily update software to allow most of or all of this on top of that they rent sell movies thru PlayStation store they have music unlimited

EVERYTHING the Xbox can do the PS4 can do as well. There's a Sony kinect as well.. And Sony has already had TV features, they already have NHL TV, so how,hard would it be for them to expand on that. MS seems happy to have that Blu Ray drive, that they felt was unnecessary.

I would care more about the XBOX ONE if they showed off some exclusives. Nothing remotely interesting yet like Deep Down for PS4. Sony cares about games and their quality and that's why they will get my money first. Shit, Demon's Souls wouldn't even exist without Sony, which means Dark Souls wouldn't exist without Sony. Sony actually care about driving innovation in gaming, making great games and publishing/supporting great games. I own both 360 and PS3 but my PS3 gets way more use due to the amount of exclusives that are amazing. It looks like it will be the same next generation.

I think the Xbox One will struggle against itself in trying to find a focus. It's competing against to many areas other than gaming. Is it a set-top box like AppleTV, or Roku, or Google TV? Is it a gaming console? Is it a cable box?

Well if rumors are true and they can get their cloud computing working for everyone bad connection or not then yh they would own the online space because peer to peer connection/several xbox ones powering a single console is greater that a single system alone

However, PS4 will mostly defiantly own when there is none of this involved with is more important for a lot of people.

Since the launch of PS4 and Xbox one has been polar different to that of the PS3 and Xbox 360.

I tell you big reason why Xbox will struggle hear on out. You have to see the time line of what the console stood for:

1994: Playstation first disc games console, which had no end of amount of fun to it. It brought about modern gaming + N64 we love it to this days with the controller and 4 player gaming.

2000: Playstation 2 - Instant success, because it had a user base and design personality of refinement and fun.

2001: Xbox came out: Did well with in betweeners but should the world Microsoft with taxing developers from the PC division could create an awesome gaming console. It in the same position as PS1 (PSX).

2005: Playstation 3 had big user base but stood for futuristic power, sleek dark look and crammed with latest tech.

2005: Xbox 360 - Based on fun, outgoing, social console with emphasis on gaming - this reflected in the white/grey colour of the console.

2013: Playstation 4 pretty much the same but less dark and sleek but a heart in gaming.

2013: Xbox One much like the PS3 but much less emphasis on actual gaming.

*Rough dates.

Both have Sony and Microsoft have stood in different directions but thus this generation they (Microsoft) have switched to Sony direction.

I dont get MS,they lost hardcore audience by going into;social stuff,integrating tv in xbox,apps for series and movies,4k stuff which isnt gonna happen until 2-4years.a gaming console should be about games,and only games. No way. The ps4 and Wii u both have something the x1 won't, and that is a true two screen experience. Its built right into the fabric if the Wii u with the gamepad and Sony is going to implement it we'll with the vita. Ms smart glass is no comparison to what the other two are offering.

i have been a xbox user since day 1 when i stood outside in the rain waiting for wal-mart to open, and now i have to say i will most likely be going to buy a ps4 because Microsoft is no longer in the game business but in the entertainment business . if i wanted to watch tv ill watch tv but i dont need an xbox-one to do that, i own a console to play games not Skype with friends or browse the internet. i am a gamer not social junkie who always needs input from multiple sources all at once. older consoles have more appeal then these new ones.

The question of the century. Bluepoint probably doesn't want to do another remake. Yet they could also just get nixxes to remaster and bring it to ps5+pc.
Fromsoft hasn't had a new major release since shadow of the erdtree nor will they probably have a new major title til next year at the earliest. (The co-op dlc I don't care for.) So now would've been amazing for a bloodborne remaster even.
