New PGR Confirmed !

aviator1894624d ago

if that's true, i'm so pumped.
it's been such a long time since we've seen a pgr game.

AngelicIceDiamond4624d ago

Yeah its cool, but I'm not a huge racing fan. I'm looking forward to it but I'm hoping to see some other titles also.

3-4-54624d ago

eww sick...

A racing game that forces you to Slide everywhere for something stupid called KUDOS......no thanks.

I'd much rather have Forza 5.

Jek_Porkins4624d ago

Microsoft also trademarked ForzaVista, so it could go PGR or Forza, I'd love either one!

jimbobwahey4624d ago

I'd much prefer Forza to be honest. PGR was great but the main features that differentiate it (city tracks and stylish racing) could be incorporated into the Forza franchise which makes PGR redundant.

I expect Turn 10 will bring back city tracks (like New York from Forza 1/2/3) and they could easily integrate some modes that resemble PGR's kudos system (since they're already halfway there with autocross/bowling events).

Besides, Microsoft cared so little about the PGR franchise that they let Bizarre Creations go multiplat under Activision (before they were shut down) so I doubt they'd go to the trouble of trying to resurrect the franchise now when Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon are doing well.

Jek_Porkins4624d ago

Bizarre Creations was owned by Activision, while Project Gotham Racing is owned by Microsoft, it wasn't as if Microsoft had a choice in the matter, and actually most of those guys helped make Forza Horizon, which was my favorite racer this generation hands down.

I like PGR, like Forza and Horizon as well, I just think Microsoft wont use a Forza Motorsport game as a launch title, for the same reason they wont release a launch Halo game anymore, not a big enough install base initially. Also, we've seen every Microsoft console launch with a Gotham game, which is food for thought.

Blackdeath_6634624d ago

would prefer PGR we've had enough forza's already

Gillonz4624d ago

after vista they'll do forza 7 then forza 8 lol

Jek_Porkins4624d ago

Actually they are on Forza Motorsport 5, the same number at Gran Turismo I believe? That wasn't a very inventive troll attempt at all...for shame.

Majors4624d ago (Edited 4624d ago )

@ Jek But remember there have been 4 iterations of forza this current gen while only 1 & a prologue of gran turismo.
Food for thought ???

FamilyGuy4624d ago

@ Jek
Gran Turismo 1 started on PS1, now that's food for thought.

On topic: I hope whatever this is turns out to be a new IP. I know franchises excite fans but something new is always cool at the start of a new generation. Think Gears of War, it was new a took off big time.

Nightfallen4624d ago (Edited 4624d ago )

Microsoft is getting their own racing title ( for next generation), interesting! Can't wait to see what the MS camp has to offer. I'm a PS guy but MS and Sony competing benefits gamers in the long run.

So a new Forza most likely.

Foxgod4624d ago

What do you mean with, their own racing title?
They had their own racing title ever since the first xbox.

Nightfallen4624d ago (Edited 4624d ago )

For next gen. As in PS4 has Driveclub, and MS another title.

Edit: Most likely released within the same time frame.

hazardman4624d ago

Actually if anything it was Sony who needed the other racer to go along with GT. MS has Forza, Forza Horizon and PGR series. A lim something for a arcade and sim racers. Can't wait to for tomorrow to see what MS has to offer!!

jimbobwahey4624d ago

To be fair Sony also has Wipeout and Motorstorm. Unfortunately though nobody bought Wipeout so the studio was closed and the franchise is dead, and Motorstorm sold really poorly as well, so now Evolution Studios are trying something else.

It's a real shame actually, there's been some great exclusives on PS3 that nobody bought and so we'll never see sequels to them (prime examples being Wipeout HD, Starhawk and Twisted Metal).

a_bro4624d ago

Wipeout is not dead. Sony owns the ip. If anything, evolution most likely has been given the franchise.

Axonometri4624d ago

Woah! massive de ja vu
this happen once before?

SDF Repellent4624d ago

I am desperately hoping it is PGR. It is by far my favorite racing series of all time going back to the Metropolis Street Racing game on the Dreamcast. London, Paris, San Francisco, New York, Tokyo created in Next Gen graphics should be spectacular!

Could Anthem live on? Tech allowing local server hosting existed, former executive producer says

BioWare's multiplayer shooter Anthem was terminated this week because EA no longer wanted to maintain servers for people to play the game on, and without them, no one can play the game. But the former executive producer of Anthem has revealed that BioWare had technology working, close to the game's release, that would enable us to host our own servers to play the game on.

EA/Bioware should allow us to host our own servers to let this game live on.

I'd be fine just playing it as a localhost and dumb as rocks AI bots. Just give me the choice.

Best Puzzle Game of 2025

VGChartz's Lee Mehr: "When you think about it, the essence of every game is problem-solving in one way or another. For the puzzle genre, that's expressed through a series of brainteasers. A challenge is placed at your feet and you're pushed to understand it with limited contextual clues. From industry veterans to relative newbies, familiar franchises to brand-new IPs, 2025 saw a deluge of impressive puzzlers. Among our finalists are not merely well-designed templates based on familiar staples; a couple move the genre forward in interesting directions."
