The Wii U will bounce back, it just needs time.

The Wii U, as of late has been having some trouble, articles left and right already concluding that the Wii U is set to fail. Along with that is the fact that developers are beginning to bail out on the console with the rise of the PS4 and the next Xbox in the near future.

Bounce back from what? It never got off the ground to begin with.

auragenz4767d ago

The Wii U has been a success from day one.

Where do people come up with this stuff.

famoussasjohn4767d ago

Compared to the Dreamcast maybe, but the previous iteration Wii? Nope.

Not a success... day one major patch, a lack of content after launch, etc. I bought one day, and expect Nintendo to make the console successful like they have with 3DS, but it's not time that's gonna fix the problem... it's games. Games are what will make the system a success... any system a success. Look at the PS3, it was games that made it great, when it had a bad start. Exclusive games make a system a must have. It's kinda simple.

ChickeyCantor4767d ago

"I dont understand people trying to damage control the wii u when its purely a bad product"

You surely seem to express this opinion often enough. Are you angry? Why are you angry?

3D Mario, LoZ U, Super Smash Brothers, Mario Kart U

Those games will sell 2+ million each....at least

They will also be responsible for the rise in Wii U purchases from June-Dec and into 2014

How can't others else see or comprehend this ?

"How can't others else see or comprehend this"

Because this years different, we most likely have two BRAND NEW next gen consoles going up on sale at the end of the year.

The Nintendo exclusives arn't going up against Microsoft/Sony exclusives and multiplatform games, they are going up against two consoles as well, things which will bring us fully into the next gen. It's a pretty big thing this year and with the way this world is these days, things are getting tight.

Some people have to save up their money for future things which are coming out and at the end of this year they have a LOT of stuff to choose from.

3-4-54767d ago

I understand that, but almost every system has a slow start, it's just people are ALWAYS vocal about it so it seems like a bigger deal than it is.

The PS3 & 3DS were supposedly "dead"...

Where are all those brilliant people now ?

They are the same people saying Wii U & PC gaming are dead.

They will be the same people to attack the next Nintendo console as well.

Wii U will be fine. Nintendo has a huge fan base and a lot of them are waiting for their Main reason to buy a Wii U.

3D Mario, LoZ, Super Smash Brothers, Mario Kart are going to sell a lot of Wii U's. All the people who own one will buy those, and those who are on the fence...this will be their reason to make the jump.

Good games usually take a bit to start showing up.

People just aren't as patient anymore, they are used to getting everything right now and so they don't know how to wait and let the games release when they may.

jcnba284767d ago

No it just outsold both PS3 and 360 four months after their respectives launches...

Shok4767d ago

Yes it did. The system sold 3.06 million by December 31st. It was really successful at first, it wasn't until 2013 hit that the sales started slacking off.

SonyPS44767d ago

The launch wasn't bad, it was the following months because it lacks post-launch titles worth buying apart from MH3. The first year for the Wii U has been lacking. If the Wii U had a better first year in terms of content, I (and many others) would've purchased one a long time ago.

Anon19744767d ago (Edited 4767d ago )

EA contributed roughly 10% of the titles to the Wii's library. Now they've announced they're not even working on Wii-U titles.

Anyone who doesn't think the Wii-U is in serious trouble needs to take their head out of the sand. EA's move sends a clear message to other developers..the Wii-U doesn't have legs. First party games will only get you so far.

If no one else picks up the development slack in the next year, and if sales don't pick up before the onslaught we'll see from Microsoft and Sony at year's end, it's over for the Wii-U by next year. That's the cold, hard truth.

BeZdaBest4767d ago

@famous.. so then by your logic the ps3 is a huge failure compared to the ps2..hmmm...im i right

wiiu will outsell ps4 and nextbox, but even if somehow it doesn't i won't mind. i have one and it'll have plenty of games i want, and with less install base that just means less trash talking 12 year olds playing m rated games online. win win either way.

GiantFriendlyCrab4767d ago

umm are you aware that casual gamers have moved to smartphone/tablets ?, Wii u have no chance..

PigPen4767d ago

Nintendo has a better chance then Sony. Everyone see the Playstation 4 as some unstoppable tank because it's powerful. I see it as a big expensive console that can't compete in the exclusive race from low funds. Nintendo just got a exclusive deal from Sega with three titles. I am already hearing Microsoft has exclusives for its console reveal. And the fact Sony and Microsoft will go head to head this holiday season is not in either favor. I think Sony will be successful but just not like everyone thinks.

yugovega4767d ago

hardcore gamers have yet to see the writing on the wall. gaming sales are in huge decline. cod still sells but most people do not want or need the ps4 or nextbox. they are happy with their yearly cod and madden. some people are just now upgrading from ps2 to ps3. you are right about tablet gaming but that won't affect nintendo. the 3ds proves that. those casuals you mention are the ones who had wii systems then bought xb360 cause all their friends play cod.

cooperdnizzle4767d ago

Game sales are in a decline because there haven't been that many block buster hits that have come out this year. And the two block buster hits that have come out have sold very well, Injustice and Boishock.

Not to mention people are saving up for the new consoles. Many online retailers and shop retailers have stated that the ps4 has the highest pre order demand of any console to date.

And last, there is gamer fatigue, no console gen has lasted this long, and gamers especially the hardcore are wanting new system and new experience, along with new ips.

Nintendo is experiencing difficult times because they are not offering anything that is new outside of what the ps3 and 360 could already do. Not to mention there online service is a lot worse then what Sony and Microsoft have been doing for years. Casual market switches all the time, right now it is in the mobile, but nothing causal has ever stuck, in any media. Casual go with the next "big thing" (The wii, And now mobile, before that it was the arcade, then it was the same thing for pc back in late 80's)

Don't act like because you say something it is fact when you have nothing to back it up.

ABizzel14767d ago

I doubt it. Nintendo doesn't have the casual audience to fluff their numbers and it seems the majority of them have split to mobile.

I see the Wii U selling between 40 - 60 million max.

ComBaTs0uL4767d ago

Thing is ps4 and next box might have a slow start but they both have there younger brother's to help them out and they they both have stronger core fan bases.

yugovega4767d ago

"stronger core fan base" are u serious? it doesn't get stronger the mario and zelda fan bases. this is a big misconception fan boys have. nintendo and pc made the core players of today. nextbox and ps4 have the cod fad gamers to fall back on.

ABizzel14767d ago

Which is why the GC and N64 couldn't break 40 million in sales. And the PS3 did starting with a $600 price point.

Nintendo will always be a herald of gaming, but they're really not as popular with the core OF TODAY as you think. Nintendo is often looked at as gaming for kids, due to the IP's and art styles they go for.

I don't agree per say, but that's how it is in the eyes of many gamers.

DaPrintz4767d ago

Abbizel hit the nail on the head right there. Nintendo didn't start with the Wii. GameCube and N64 were the same business model as Sony and Microsoft's are today. It took a huge gamble on that casual crowd which paid off, to change Nintendo's fortune. If the Wii had a normal controller as standard, we would be talking about the next Zelda for PS4/Nextbox.

PigPen4767d ago

Their younger brothers will harm them more than help. It will keep many to wait to upgrade with titles like GTA 5, Splinter Cell, Rayman and Batman. Sony has the TLoU coming. This will keep people from at buying at launch.

PigPen4767d ago

The Wii U will be successful despite what the nay sayers say. How much successful is anyone guess.

Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.

jznrpg45d ago

My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.

Smellsforfree45d ago

Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.

Loktai45d ago

Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.

Best 2D, Mario World, best 3D, Mario 64. Can't say there's been a bad one, although Mario World 2 wasn't a true sequel. The Mario Land games were good (not the first one) and also Wario Land. I thought after Mario 64, Mario 3D World was excellent.
