Matthew Kellar writes for Aeropause: "I would first like to point out that I am likely in the minority with the opinions that follow... I believe the consistent outcries from gamers for multiplayer content in practically every superb single-player game that is created are misguided. Two recent games from which I noticed such discussion are Bioshock and Mass Effect. I feel that the things that made these games great are the very things that would be lost by the addition of other players."

Bioware writes: "Like you, we’ve heard the rumors lately. You’ve made it clear you care deeply about what’s next. So let’s start by setting the record straight: the next Mass Effect game is in development, and EA and BioWare remain committed to telling more stories in this universe."
I expected nothing and I'm still disappointed
Like with Fallout, it's starting to feel studios are using TV / Film adaptations when they have no game info to talk about.
So the TV show will take place after the OG trilogy. I wonder which ending they’ll use?
Should’ve just posted a picture of an Elcor saying “regretfully, we have nothing to share.”

The fourth game in the ‘BioShock’ series has been in development for more than a decade
Bioshock is one of my favourites franchises. I love all 3 games and have played each several times. I even have a room in my house that is loosely decorated around the theme of Bioshock (with a Lighthouse, coral models and postcards styled as though they are from both Rapture and Columbus).
And yet I am going to find it extremely difficult to get even remotely excited about any future episode in the series after all the problems this has had in its development cycle.
Leave the franchise alone. Remaster them again if you have to. Then put whatever talent you have to use on something brand new.
It sucks this game is in development hell because I love BioShock and would love a 4th game. I hope it turns out great, but I guess we'll see.
It's been in development hell since 2014. This is nothing new. It saddens me because it's one of my favorite series. At this point, Judas may end up releasing first.
Bioshock 4 (if it ever comes out) will probably still look and play like a Bioshock game, but without Kevin, it might miss that spark that made the originals so special. Honestly, Judas might end up feeling more like the real spiritual successor.

games are great.when you don't have to people to play with, they(single player focussed games) are even better.
VERY few games can justify their worth being singleplayer only.
As in, none this generation.
But, for a none AAA title, it can help.
I dont mind if a game doesn't have multiplayer. But most likely will end up a rental for me. Dead Rising, Mass Effect and Bioshock are the only non multiplayer games that I own. Everything else is just a rental.
I fully agree with article. I sometimes like just to play out an adventure by myself without having to worry if my team mate is lagging behind or whatever. Also, having multiplayer in every release is pointless because as the article states, there is always are handful of games that the majority of players will stick too. Strangleholds lobbies are usually bare for example.
An big example is that I bought COD4 when it came out and up until this day I still haven't touched the online mode though I have finished the actual campaign! All my time goes into Warhawk, Tekken and any other singles player games that I buy for a new experience (currently still mucking around in Oblivion)
