On friday NCSoft held its quarterly financial conference call and while answering to the question from an investor the company’s Managing Direcor Nah Seong Chan had something to say about an upcoming expansion for Guild Wars 2.

They said two months ago that they had no plans of making an expansion. I think that there userbase is just starting to shrink, so they had to do something to get people back. I know quite a few of my friends have left the game.
My main issue with the game is that it is so different compared to GW1. They tried to appeal to a broader audience and left the original userbase behind. But if I didn't play the original, I'm sure that I would have enjoyed it.
I just logged off the game out of rage because with the recent buff to WvW arrow carts it has turn into sit in base and turtle. WTF I know are suppose to not stand in red but now everywhere you go arrow carts lay, what is the point of WvW when you stay confined to a keep, sure it helps kill zergs but it also makes taking a camp a chore, so no thank you.
Oh so that's what they're doing instead of improving and fixing what they already have.
Before anyone gets too excited about the expansion, it helps to look back to March when NCsoft also announced that ArenaNet was preparing a Guild Wars 2 expansion - which Anet promptly shot down with an "er no, no we're not, and we've got no plans to either."
So while there's a chance this isn't just a desperate attempt to drum up their stock price and Anet really is preparing an expansion, it's a good idea to wait for the actual developers to make the announcement in case NCsoft is putting the cart before the horse yet again.
