Draw Something 2 Review (Modojo)

John Bedford (Modojo): A quick history of Draw Something for newcomers. In 1985, Angel Games publishes a game called Pictionary, a turn-based sketch-guessing party game. In 2012, developer OMGPOP releases what is for all intents and purposes a digital version of that same game, and it does so just as the social mobile gaming scene starts skirting the stratosphere.

Everyone's playing and talking about it - critics, celebrities, talkshow hosts, people who would never normally admit in public that they play games. As a result, Zynga buys the studio for a chuckle-worthy $183 million, the CEO and founder of developer OMGPOP goes mad in public over post-acquisition, ex-employee "dissent", and then the game fades into the shadows of popular culture as all such things do.

Draw Something 2 Review - GameWoof

Draw Something remains one of the most popular and highest downloaded games in mobile gaming history. Omgpop’s electronic, internet enabled take on cooperative Pictionary struck a cord with players young and old. Zynga bought Omgpop and the Draw Something franchise back in 2012. Draw Something 2 represents not only the sequel to the massive casual gaming juggernaut but also the future of the premier art game on mobile devices. For those concerned that the Zynga accquition of Omgpop would negatively affect the Draw Something franchise, you can put those fears aside, Draw Something 2 is not only bigger and better in nearly every way than its predecessor but continues the same relaxed IAP system that helped make it such a big hit in the first place. Meet the new king of social art gaming, it is the same as the old king, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Pocket Gamer: Draw Something 2 Review

Pocket Gamer: OMGPOP's Draw Something was a revelation when it debuted, racking up 50 million downloads in as many days and causing Zynga to get out its chequebook and purchase the game - and its developer - for a cool $180 million.

However, as with so many fads, Draw Something's appeal waned almost as quickly and it went from being the game that everyone was playing to the game everyone used to be playing.
