Nintendo Statement on E3 Plans

“As you’ve already seen, a lot of news about Nintendo games and services that traditionally would be held until E3 is being delivered this year through Nintendo Directs, and various press events. This approach will continue between now and E3. No matter where you are in the world, you’ll be fully informed. We look forward to continuing to provide you with Nintendo news and content in ways you haven’t before experienced. Beyond the news that will be communicated through Nintendo Direct videos in the run up to E3, at the show itself we’re hosting two smaller events on Tuesday morning before the LACC opens instead of just our traditional one event. A media event and a partner presentation will both occur that morning. While the audiences will be different between the two events, both will occur on the Tuesday morning of E3 (June 11) which is the date and time period the public has come to expect for Nintendo to deliver E3 news.

So Nintendo are having more Directs leading up to E3 as well as events on June 11th.

Nice one!

Jagsrock4686d ago

The more I read about this it seems like this is actually the right call. The e3 presentations as of late have often left people with more questions than answers and I feel this will be a better way for nintendo to get the message they want to across.Remember the wii u presentation that left people wonder "so what is it?" this might help eliminate those issues. It will also make it easier for people to get a better look at the games and get a deeper impression of what the wii U is about which is incredibly important at this point. It might not be the most glamorous decision but it could be just what the wii U needs. Plus nintendo directs leading up to the E3 are a major plus and could actually get a lot of attention from gamers thirsty for real news during a time that is essential just filled with rumors and speculation.

17M+ units in 6 months! Others on this site are insisting on only 10M units. XD

And as for Switch 1 total sales, it will only take a few months for it to surpass the 160M of PS2.

repsahj19d ago

Will Sony magically be able to dig up PS2s again to increase the 160M number when the Switch is about to surpass it? hahaha.

They already did this in 2024 because Switch 1 is getting close to 155m. They might do it again because Switch is getting close to 160M.

Dexterio19d ago (Edited 19d ago )

"And as for Switch 1 total sales, it will only take a few months for it to surpass the 160M of PS2."
Few months lol. Maybe in a few years, and if it happens, that would be a big indication that the Switch 2 is not as successful as some here wanted us to believe; people still buy the OG Switch because there is nothing exciting on the Switch 2 and it's cheaper lol.

Rage7719d ago

Too bad it took over 12 years for PS2 to reach that number (before Jim Ryan made took some more out of his ass) Does that mean people were buying PS2s becasue it was cheaper and nothing good on PS3 and almost PS4? Nice try. 🤣🤣🤣

Sgt_Slaughter19d ago

The Switch 2 is outselling the Switch 1 when compared to their first years. You can swing this anyway you want, but that doesn't change reality and sales figures.

By your own logic, every single console has released to lackluster success because people kept buying the console before it. Sony even combined PS2 and PS3 sales at one point to help negate the lackluster start of the PS3.

badz14919d ago

@Rage77

people were buying PS2s because it was cheaper and nothing good on PS3. remember that the PS3 was released in 2006, God of War 2 was released in 2007.

Destiny108019d ago

it was at 10 million when i googled it a week ago, these are fresh numbers

17 million in 6 months is crazy

repsahj19d ago

I think that number is until October only. And during the holidays, Switch 2 sold 7m+.

salis84419d ago

June 5 to December 31 is essentially seven months.

From the chart in the actual presentation.

"Cumulative global sell-through as of the 4th week of December 2025 15 million units."

"Sales Status of Hardware and Software (Sell-In) 17.37 million units."

15m Sold = sell-through

17.37m Shipped = sell-in

andy8519d ago

Itll probably get there. But at currently pace it's like a year and a half. And thats without that number declining as people get switch 2s instead

repsahj19d ago

Maybe they still can. They need to put extra effort into promotions again and release bundled promos like with
2-3 games and 1yr Nintendo online subs.

There's a lot of people who want the switch to fail for some weird reason

They took Christmas sales as a indication that the system was a flip and proceeded to celebrate prematurely

I still believe the Switch 2 is not gonna be as successful as the OG Switch. We'll see ;)

darthv7219d ago

Well... it can't be the new wiiu if it already passed it and is on track to keep selling over the next several years. It took WiiU 4 years to even get close to 14m. SW2 passed it in 6 months.

Sgt_Slaughter19d ago (Edited 19d ago )

The PS5 is showing to not reach the PS4, so you should worry about that instead.

hiawa2319d ago

That is pretty amazing. I love what Nintendo did with the Switch 2 as they fixed every issue I had with the original and it seems devs agree given the amount of 3rd party support it is receiving.

repsahj19d ago

I agree! That was their previous criticism of the Switch 1, now Nintendo has responded with the Switch 2. They still can't beat the games on console versions but the gap is massive compared to Switch 1 and ps4. For me, the end result that you see with your eyes while playing is what's important, not that you have to dissect the game and zoom in 200% to see the difference.

Levii_9219d ago

Most disappointing console i've ever bought. I regret buying it right away.

Sgt_Slaughter19d ago (Edited 19d ago )

It's a better Switch with much better graphics, third-party support, and fully backwards compatible. You knew what it would be before purchasing.

Besides, surely you were more disappointed by the PS3's launch or the Vita given how rough theirs were in comparison.

Neonridr18d ago

how is it more disappointing than the original Switch? It's an improvement in every way when you directly compare.

Sgt_Slaughter19d ago

All those clickbait YouTubers and Twitter users are going to be working overtime to try and swing this as a bad thing, when it continues to defy expectations and break records.

The Switch 2 has now outsold the Steam Deck nearly 3x over and is outselling the OG Switch by nearly 5,000,000 with half a year of sales to go for its first year.

repsahj19d ago

LOL! Specially Nintendeen. XD

MayorPauline19d ago

Apparently he was begrudgingly saying he was wrong. I'll take reddits word for it though. He ain't getting any traffic from me. I dont need him or any one like him stinking up my feed. You let in one grifter and the algotherim decides to flood you with them. 😆

Nintendo Faces Fresh Labor Complaints Three Years After Union-Busting Settlement

Nintendo of America is once again facing labor complaints from one or more of its workers. Game File reports that new charges accuse the Switch 2 manufacturer of violating sections of the National Labor Relations Act dealing with worker organizing and related union activities. These come just a few years after the company settled a previous labor charge with a former tester for $26,000.

I got scared before reading the entire headline

Miraak82 87d ago

Ya scary , seems more like a talent acquisition more then anything , nothing IP related

repsahj87d ago

Great news! It's good to hear that they want to maintain the quality of the games on the Switch 2.

TheColbertinator86d ago

Makes sense to pick up developers with previous Nintendo focused history.

Gamersunite88086d ago

Good. I think they'll help with Splatoon 4 and some Pokemon games.
