VGU.TV's Andrew Nino says, "What this means for Death Inc. is development has now ceased and it’s now a very real possibility the game has received the axe for good. Fortunately, for alpha backers Ambient Studios has also announced that backers will be receiving their money back."

This article was based on an Alpha code of Death Inc by Ambient studios. At the time there was promise of an exciting game to come. Sadly just as it was about to go live Ambient studios announced that they were no longer able to stay in business. Everyone who invested in the pre-purchase of the game and received the alpha code will receive their money back. This is sad news for everyone who saw the promise of the game and we wish the team at Ambient studios the best of luck in their next enterprise. This then is a tribute to Death Inc., the game that never lived...

Death Inc., the rather lovely looking strategy game from Ambient Studios, has managed to find life after Kickstarter. The innovative title from a developer consisting of the people behind LittleBigPlanet, Burnout and Fable failed to scrape together even half of the $300,000 they needed from the crowd funding site, but have announced today that the game will be released anyway. And the good news? If you pre-purchase, you'll be able to play the alpha version of the game right now.
I didn't really pay much attention to this, but I remember reading, on multiple different websites, that this game was remarkably similar to a handful of iOS and PC titles already out. Someone cited a specific iPhone game (I don't know what it was, as I don't own one) that was essentially identical to this new game, with the flashy art style the only thing differentiating this title.

Despite a setback from their failed to fund kickstarter, the developers at Ambient Studios are still determined to find a way to bring Death Inc. to life, or perhaps death would be more fitting. There is a great deal of potential for hilarity and action in Death Inc. Combining a simple free form of control with zany tongue in cheek RTS action, it is the very essence of what we are looking for in innovation.
