I don't get why they did not give the WiiU the game in February and then release it on the other consoles later on in the year.

I was looking forward to getting this game but I may now give it a miss as come October ill more than likely have another new console.

Becuase it would weaken the sales of the game if they had to split the marketing budget.

Nevers0ft4649d ago

Not strictly true... They could've been selling it via the eShop since February with virtually no marketing needed. I agree retail needs an advertising kick but on eShop it would've been front-and-centre anyway.

Tei7774649d ago

@Nevers0ft

That would still weaken sales across all platforms.
The Wii U for obvious reasons (no marketing)...
PS3 and 360 because we would have seen full reviews 6 months prior to the august release. The hype would have died down, late ports never get as much attention a brand new titles.

Optimum sales= simultaneous release+marketing push across all systems.

This game could have done wonders for the Wii U, I don't really like it. Now I'm conflicted as to which console to buy it on, the Wii U version will probably be better due to the Gamepad, but the Xbox 360 version will have Achievements, so now it's not even certain that I'll get it on Wii U.

paul19744649d ago

wii u will have achievements just look at the multiplayer thats coming today FREE lots of achievements included in that! remember Nintendo have left it down to the developers to put achievements in their games and do not insist on it being included on all as it is with ps360

Jek_Porkins4649d ago

I would prefer a system wide system, I'm holding out hope that they implement one, that is what is keeping me from buying more third party games on the Wii U. I would have bought and replayed quite a few games like Mass Effect 3, Assassins Creed 3 and some others if Nintendo had some sort of system.

Often times I'll play through a game a few times, but prefer to get something for it each time, so I'll play through it on Xbox 360, then PS3 for Achievements and Trophies, if Nintendo had a system, I'd gladly do the same with the Wii U.

I did say I thought the Wii U version would be the better game overall, but it sucks that when I had it pre-ordered for Wii U, the developer kind of screwed people over.

PC tag? Did I miss something or it's a mistake?

febreeze14649d ago

well origins is on pc so I expect it to come out for pc too. Unless they pull a rockstar and release it 6 months after.

zerocrossing4649d ago

This doesn't affect me since I'm not a big fan but it really annoys me that those who are looking forward to playing Rayman Legends have to wait close to a year just because some twats in marketing decided it'd be more profitable as a multiplat.

Little Big Planet, lol. No.

paddy95327d ago

LBP3 and rayman legends are the best here.

jznrpg326d ago

Puppeteer is really good. Nobody played it because it came out right before PS4 came out. When I went to pick up Puppeteer from GameStop some people were trading in their old consoles for PS4 preorder.

Will There Ever Be A New Rayman Game?

Ubisoft barely have a leg to stand on lately, so do they need to crack open the vaults and return platforming royalty to glory for some goodwill?

We need Rayman 4, they could make a great platformer game if they wanted. With the open hub levels and the like.

Better than relying on Rabbids and Assassins Creed all the time

Profchaos687d ago

Yeah agree id love a Rayman 2 style 3d platform game over another 2d platformer I know people loved legends but it never gelled with me same as Rayman 1 back in the day on PS it just felt like a average platformer with sonic and Mario offering something better on what was then last gen hardware

Terry_B688d ago

Yes..but I am sure it won't be the Rayman game fans want. Not from the company that is Ubisoft today.

mastershredder688d ago (Edited 688d ago )

Ancel is retired from games. His hoodlum/rabbid team are doing their own thing. It would not be the same if Ubisoft did.

Profchaos687d ago

Probably far more profitable to make low effort Rabbids games aimed at kids over a next Rayman

Chocoburger688d ago

Experience points, skill trees to fill up, level gating, endless menial tasks and side quests, constantly scrounging for resources. Always having to upgrade your gear. A.KA. "The Ubisoft effect".

No thanks, don't ruin Rayman's legacy.

Profchaos687d ago

Sure there will be it'll launch right alongside the next splinter cell
