Is the game supporting 4K on PC? If it already does, then it wouldn't have been hard to support 4K on PS4 Pro. If not then they probably just feel like they don't need to.

I've tried a bunch of games up scaled to 4K on my 1080p tv just for the heck of it in the last week or so and the good news is that aliasing is almost completely gone in games by just using fxaa, the bad news though was that a few of the games locked up after about a half an our of play, but that could be down to several reasons, game engine, gpu drivers, vram limit or maybe even tv loosing signal due to changing between 60hz and 30hz, that happens quite a bit.

Also the Unity engine has always been a bit temperamental
