You guys are nuts. DMC 3: SE was a damn good game indeed, but this one blows it out of the water hands down. Sure you don't have that many weapons and it feels a bit slower. But the animation, graphics, story and sound is way better. The enemies are diverse, not your generic hell sloths or whatever. Bosses are freaking amazing and the devil bringer makes the game hella fun. Plus you get two very different characters (Vergil and dante played similarly in 3), and a decent story with some really cool cut scenes. I plan to finish all difficulties and play bloody palace just for kicks once in a while. This game is ace if you are an action games fan, don't listen to all the losers that come on here and say "it didn't meet their expectations", no game can touch the depth and excitement of this game in the genre, so please give me a break, what do you want, dante to come out of the TV screen and shake your hand? will that make the game better. The game is awesome, buy it, there is no chance you will regret it unless your a spoiled little b*tch.

Becouse almost everyone that played Dmc3:se knows that THAT one is much better then Dmc4.

All the backtracking through the castle and the forest.

Having to fight the same few bosses more than once (especially that fat stupid toad and the viper chick with the vagina of death!)

A practically non-existent story that should have been brought out and develop on such a greater scale (Nero's girlfriend should have been involved more in the story as well as her brother).

The only improvement that DMC4 holds over DMC3, besides the obvious graphical and sound advancements, is that now the player can switch between the 4 fighting styles on the fly.

After being let down by this game, I have convinced myself that God of War is the superior IP in EVERY single way.

If it weren't for the backtracking I could wholeheartedly say that DMC4 edges over DMC3:SE. As it stands though they're about even to me, because 4's combat depth and storyline is tops.

I personally enjoyed DMC4. Yes, it feels like DMC1 + DMC3 at times, and yes bosses and environments are rehashed, and yes there are no secrets. But what is there is fun. The combat is fun. The weapons are fun. The bosses are fun (accept for Mission 19, I hated that fvcking level). I admit, it is incredibly disappointing that there are no additional costumes, but then again, I was never good enough at DMC to beat it past normal mode (except for DMC2 where you pretty much close your eyes and beat Dante Must Die). Anyways, I personally like it and it got the scores that it deserved. 8.5's are an accurate depiction of what the game is. Good, but not as great as the 9's of God of War and Ninja Gaiden.

God Of War FTW. It will take time for a game to surpass GOW, wait until GOW 3 is released, they say it's improved in every aspect

i have to say I think capcom recycled the levels so it would fit on a dvd and make it seem long. The game goes likes this nero you fight all the bosses get to the end get trapped then dante goes backwards refights all the bosses has a final battle, then nero re-re fights 6 of the bosses (soooo lame) has a final battle game over, very freaking repetitive, in noway was it better then dmc3 it was equal at the best. there were a ton of times i kept saying my god i need to stop playing this.

I remember this game and Onimusha Warlords getting my attention on PS2 days...

I wish Onimusha was the game that kept going....

dmc4 is amazing, the story is and the gameplay and the enemies arent as dumb as part 3's u agree bout some things like bosses being reused but only 3 of them, credo isnt reused, or the big statue and some others, but o well. dantes weapons cuda been better tho,

if this reviewer thinks it feels familiar how dare he say GOW2 is better, god of war 2 is EXACTLY the same as part one with a bow and 2 new bad weapons, kratos had same combos and the gameplay was just not fun, DMC and ninja gaiden destroy GOW, i think peeps just like GOW cuz its short, super easy and violent

I Just felt cheated and your right credo was not reused but all the other bosses were, not just 3 i don't know were you got that from, i like nero's story, but what the hell did Dante have to do with it, he felt very thrown in, and the boss fights with dante felt off, because you did not have nero's arm. don't get me wrong i like the game, but it felt like you were doing alot of going back and forth. GOW2 on the other hand was very progressive and dude it was a ps2 game that felt "epic" great story, always new mechanics in the game, not just fighting but enemies. anywho.

better than dmc3 only slightly, this is only because of graphics,,

if they both had the same graphics but were still the same game as is, but like i said just both got dmc4 visuals, then dmc3 would own, oh and by the way,

NINJA GAIDEN SERIES HAS NOTHING ON DMC SERIES, man ninja gaiden is soo empty, bored the pooh out of me from mission 4 it was just fight,,

dmc is all about fight and story, and awesome cut scenes,,

In no way is DMC4 better than DMC3 except in graphics which is hardly a fair comparison considering the systems involved. The current generation of consoles is plagued with gaming media hyping up games to the nth degree and I for one am getting a bit weary of everything that comes out either being screamed about for being the best thing ever created or screamed about for not being the best thing ever created. There can be no more "decent" or "pretty good" games anymore, everything has to be blockbuster, blow your doors off, hands down the best thing EVER... Or it sucks.

seemd pretrty much the same with better grfix, although i only demoed 4. I really hope that four wasnt as corny as 3. I remember when he was spinning around in the air on a table screaming "party time yea" and I thought what the sh#t, this is corny as phuck.

I couldn't stand dante in dmc3, he seemed like some guy you see in mental institutions.

In dmc4 dante is the definition of "cool" and suprisingly he doesn't look like your typical girly man.

Dmc4's gameplay is far more tight compared to dmc3 and being able to use all styles at once just makes it even better.

Dmc4 only loses points on its backtracking, in no other way is dmc3 better.

besides the reviewer is an idiot making it seem like DMC2 is even better when that game had one weapon with 4 different looks, 1 combo.

anyone who believes this idiot is an idiot themselves, GOW doesnt feel epic in my opinion, and no offense but kratos has the same combos in 1,2 and olympus, and the puzzles are the same, push block or put something on pressure lever.

but now that i think bout it, dante was sorta annoying in the begining of dmc3 lol, he wasnt like that the whole time tho, only mission one,

and who says ninja gaiden sux!!! ninja gaiden the enemies keep u on ur feet and make u feel like ur actually fighting people who are trying to kill u, they dodge, block and counter and work together constantly. w/e like dmc and ninja gaiden rock

I haven't played DmC or DMC5 yet. DMC4, I don't like Nero and Dante's styles felt nerfed compared to DMC3.

The only ones I enjoyed or completed was the first game and DmC.

Y’all are too hard on 5… yea, they should’ve cut V and worked on more set pieces instead, but the combat and bosses are perfect.

3, 5, 1, 4, 2.
