An update has been issued by Nintendo for the 3DS' message-sharing application designed to enhance users' experiences and give them more tools for creation.
Sometimes speculation happens to be right; though this time people will wish the speculation was wrong. It was reported earlier that Nintendo suspended the Swapnote SpotPass sharing services due to vaguely labeled “offensive materials” being shared over Nintendo’s systems. It didn’t take long for reports of nefarious happenings by predators using this service and other Nintendo online offerings began springing up around gaming forums. Unfortunately it seems that they weren’t just rumor, and in at least two major cases has turned out to be very true.
Oh wow! How come I never hear about this on any other console? I still think Nintendo should go by their parental controls instead of trying to be the world police. ;)

I'm very sorry if it reads as though Im flipping desks, throwing chairs or raging but this happens too often on this site and its frustrating.

who cares if they're stupid enough to do something like that well thats there problem dont freakin cancel the app just block users... honestly a really stupid situation...i still cant believe young girls are just that stupid

As Nintendo clarifies the Swapnote situation to 3DS owners via email, a petition has been created to bring it back.
Nintendo isn't doing any good by getting rid of Swapnote. It's not like kids don't have the internet or phones to send crudely drawn pictures of boobs and dicks to each other (and I shudder thinking about Snap Chat), so why punish all the people who legitimately enjoyed using the app for something that's potentially bad that can be done EVERYWHERE else?
I don't disagree with your argument. I think the broader issue is whether they used that as an excuse to re-purpose those servers to Miiverse and simply lied about it.
I grabbed this particular update when I went into the eShop earlier today. I never really use Swapnote to send anything, though I still enjoy receiving notes direct from Nintendo.
This app is a guilty pleasure of mine. I don't make notes myself, but I love getting notes from Nintendo. Yeah, they're pretty much advertisements, but the notes are pretty creative and there's a lot of cool little 3D effects.
