Mass Effect - The Evolution of an Epic Trilogy

Push Square: "With the recently released Citadel add-on officially bringing an end to the Mass Effect trilogy, we felt it was good opportunity to look back on one of the most engaging, personal experiences to grace this generation. We’ll be talking about everything from the characters, the gameplay, and the aesthetics, to the fictional universe itself. So, find your favourite spot on the Normandy, get comfortable, grab a drink, and join us while we reflect on Commander Shepard's grand adventure."

I really interested to see where Bioware takes this series in the next generation. Should be fantastic.

The Mass Effect series is probably my favorite franchise on this generation of console. I cannot believe how attached to the universe and characters I became. I loved these games and hope that Bioware uses this universe in the next gen. I will be replaying all three games in the coming months as well.

I have # 2. about 5 hours in. Have yet to go back and play it though for some reason. Does the story get going any more ? I really liked the first one.

Also can't stand reloading in this one. There is just never enough ammo.

Don't play soldier. ;)

The story does get better in 2. I had a really hard time playing 2 because I was so attached to the characters in 1. I played the games all in a row when I played them. So I started 2 immediately after I finished 1. The story gets way better in 2 and you will come to enjoy the new characters. Keep playing!!!

@Aloren I would have to agree. I played a Vanguard in 1, Soldier in 2, and Adept in 3...I must say that soldier was my least favorite. I LOVED Adept tho, and when I replay the game I'll be an adept in probably every one.

Mass Effect - N7 DAY 2025

Bioware writes: "Like you, we’ve heard the rumors lately. You’ve made it clear you care deeply about what’s next. So let’s start by setting the record straight: the next Mass Effect game is in development, and EA and BioWare remain committed to telling more stories in this universe."

I expected nothing and I'm still disappointed

Like with Fallout, it's starting to feel studios are using TV / Film adaptations when they have no game info to talk about.

toxic-inferno199d ago

I feel the same way.

I mean, how difficult would it be for them to release SOMETHING of substance? Another short trailer? A couple of proper hints? A short story set during the original trilogy, but focused on fringe characters?

Hopefully they're working so hard on the game that they don't have time. But still, with every passing year and so little to show, the franchise will be slipping further and further from people's minds.

Profchaos199d ago

Yeah agree it's almost a cop out since Dev times are 5 to 10 years just throw out a few seasons instead you get them done in a year

I still haven’t beat Andromeda. I am waiting for a lull of good games in my backlog

P_Bomb199d ago

So the TV show will take place after the OG trilogy. I wonder which ending they’ll use?

Should’ve just posted a picture of an Elcor saying “regretfully, we have nothing to share.”

Bro missing companions: Legion, Grunt, Samara/Morinth, Javik, EDI

anast532d ago

Legion, Zaeed, and Jack are my favorites.

RiseNShine532d ago

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

anast532d ago

They lost too much talent.

IAMRealHooman532d ago

some in andromeda are decent, I agree with peebee and Vetra being good companions. Except Liam he's trash tier

anast532d ago

Liam lol I can't stand that dude.

5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave780d ago (Edited 780d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
