The shadows are lifting. Garrett, The Master Thief is back with this announcement trailer for Eidos Montreal's upcoming title: Thief, in development for PC, PlayStation 4 and other next-generation consoles. Eidos Montreal developer Stephane Roy talks about the new game in this exclusive video interview below from GDC 2013.

Jason Schreier claims Eidos-Montréal layoffs are tied to a canceled original game not mentioned in the studio’s official statement.

Eidos Montreal has imposed another round of layoffs, announcing today that 124 employees have been put out of work. Longtime studio head David Anfossi has also left, although it's unclear at this point whether he resigned or was also laid off.
I guess we’re never getting another deus ex game. Or any game directly made from this studio.

One of Eidos-Montréal's cancelled projects, a Lord of the Rings title with a Telltale-like story, gets its first look, revealing the setting.
This game is shaping up to be an interesting reboot of the franchise.
Thief looks amazing. It looks like the tradition of stealth gameplay that it set on the PC will finally continue.
never played a Thief game! Might give this one a chance!
So far all the Square Enix relaunch/reboot of older properties have been very good (at least for me) and successful , so i'm hoping the trend continue
I guess this will be another "Tomb Raider" except with Thief it will just be hugely focused on killing dudes. That's what "Tomb Raider" ended up being. It was catering to the CoD fanbase that just wants to shoot shit rather than the actual raiding of tombs.
I expect this to flop just as hard but the mindless CoD fanbase will eat it up and the media will consider it a success even though it did nothing but further kill a franchise.
