Magic the Gathering x Final Fantasy has been so successful that it managed to sell $200 million in just 24 hours.
I think if helped they the prices for all these products were extremely high at launch. Like no other cross over had prices these high. LotR for example weren't even close to FF MTG prices

I'd still take the game on the NES. It may look great on an Ipad with updated graphics and better sound and music. But I don't like my screen being a control pad for a game. I like sitting back and watching the full screen of the game while I have a controller in my hand.
