We need Nvidia And Intel to work together and make Larabee type processor's together. Nvidia has the technology and knowledge, Intel has the Experience, Tools, ability to make it great.

Except that we need AMD/ATI to come up with something better so that we have competition. Don't you find it strange that it took 1,5 years to the 9000 series to come up? Not only that, but the 9000 is just a tweeked version of the 8000 series, not a whole new architecture? That's because there's no fight back from AMD.

If you want nice prices and new tech, you need all the competition you can get (wow, it rimes!)

Which one of ATI's GPU's is the rival for Nvidia's 8800GT? Cause if its cheaper I might end up getting that instead.

Well, Now that I look into it a little more.

Ati is only leading in price by 10-30 dollars. Which isn't that much.
But that's in the high-end. In the low end, there much cheaper.

In power, Nvidia has them beat a little bit.

ATI's new HD 3870 has shown to be almost as good as the 8800GT, If not the same. The 3870 Can be found for 10-30 dollars less then an 8800GT, and with double the ram of a sub 200$ 8800GT.

But if you have some money to spare, wait for the 9800GT and buy that, I'm sure it will bring a slight improvement to the already great 8800GT.

I actually think Nvidia is in the lead now, There a bit pricier, But that little bit of extra money brings you more performance.

Although, I Personally. Am going to wait until Nvidia's next series. ATI & Nvidia's New series this year are a disappointment. And I'm thinking that the next series will be an explosion of performance.
And by that time, There should be more good games out to push the new cards :).

I think what they did this year, Is just an attempt for both companies to suck what ever money is left out of there 8 Series, before they move on up to more performance. And to give them more time to bring a much needed raise in performance.

Dude I think you are forgetting something major like so many other people when complaining about the not so massive performance jump between the 8000 and 9000 series

NVIDIA basically already spoiled us with the new 8800GT and 8800GTS that are based around the new G92 tech that gave a massive performance upgrade to the old D8P tech of the 8000 series

take this into consideration, the new 8800GT has the same performance as the old 8000GTX and the new 8000GTS has the same as the 8800ULTRA and finally that the new 9600GT has slightly slower performance than the new 8800GT and this 9600 is a entry level card while the 8800GT is "midrange"

so what happened if we never had the new 8800 cards based on G92? it will mean that we basically would have had a entry level 9600GT with a somewhat similar performance to the "high end" 8800GTX and the other 9000 series card would have blow out of the water the 8000 series

but we were already spoiled :( at least for the entry and midrange of the 9000 series the high end could be a completely different story considering they are THE cheapest NVIDIA has launched their high end making the previous medium range buyers be able to actually afford the high end
