was always my favorite the only thing I had a beef with was on the locations of the joy sticks. The xbox 360 controller is now my preferred controller especially for FPS. That's not to say that the dual shock wasn't any good though.

Fun things to note:

--Except for playtime in minutes, that EXACTLY what the Guide button does on the 360 (the EXACT same options from the EXACT same action), although the 360 guide does have a visual battery level indicator, making this barely a distinction at all.

so i guess the ps3's good news is coming back into the picture...and ign did say it did not burn down their house, so i guess i can get one too...but the think i like was the range of the controller and how long u would have left for the charged controller to run out. they should do the same for the playing time of the games.

We allready knew that the PS3 is shiny and that it gets fingerprints all over and that the remote aint good but it aint bad. I want to know a whole lot more. Maybe in a couple of weeks we will find out more. The thing about the remote counting down the minutes till next charge is awsome info.

I wasn't much of a fan of the ps2 controller, and was hoping the new one would be an improvement. From the sound of this article I'm not getting that vibe.

But I do want to hear more about the controller...do people playing the games miss rumble? Do they like the motion-sensitivity. How long does a charge last?

I actually hope its not too light.
I liked the fact about the PS2 controller that it seemed to have a bit of weight to it.
It sat nicely in your hand.
If its too light, then it may feel cheap.

Logitech usually does very good job with controllers.
IMO logitech design is much better then original PS2 pad

Yeeeah people another critic having a hands-on and admitting PS3's superiority. Ain't this just awesome, really all devs are on board, fans are on board(OMG 8.9 mill people only from America alone...and want the 600$ version at that...that's more than the all 3 territory sale figure of 360 in a whole year combined, and even without a real competition !) and all critics uptil yet afirm the edge thast PS3 has even a month before launch. The heat sensitivity, the perfect silence, the motion control...all things next-gen, SUPERB ! Though IGN didn't like the controller, but...yeah its IGN's exclusive opinion and yeah there is a whole month left too PLUS with the quality in online, games and hardware seen uptil yet, who can think about the controller(its in the 2nd priority right now). Great work there Sony ! you guys ROCK !!!

Gears of war is really a first gen title, it was shown one year ago
at E3 along side sonys fight night, and unreal demo. developers have been working on sonys system since E3 05. how can all my gaming brothers forget so fast. lets all be fair, the hardwear for each system were both finallize within months of eachother in 05. dont you guys remember the kill zone demo! As a smart consumer what ever system you choose make sure you hold that company accountible for what they promise. personally i havent seen anything new from Sony,
they never follow through on there word"never may be to harse."
for 600.00+ i don't see anything that justifies that cost. they should have at lest one game at launch thats on par with or better than gears of war, they have had more development time than games on the 360. Message to sony....SALE ME A VIDEOGAME SYSTEM NOT A DVD PLAYER.
22gigs for resistance fall of man (BLU-RAY"wow"), and yet it still does not look better or even on par with gears of war, or even for that matter the Halo 3 ingame engine trailer (down load making of halo 3 from marketplace for further info) thats how the game will look, bungies not into showing gimmick CGI. (REMEMBER E3 03, the halo trailer! they deleverd. I am upset with microsoft also, with there backwards compatiblty, but at lest there making a good effert to make me happy! I feel with 360, what i see is what i get, not a bunch of secrets, theres always news and cool stuff to hear about when it come to 360. Sonys to to tooo quite. Not good business!!
im Not a fan boy, just someone that sticks with the facts. i'll stick with the 360 far now, untill sony sees me as a smart consumer and not some name brand clone that just supports anything with there lable on it, then ill come back! enjoy trying to convince yourself that a 600.00+ ps3 is worth it.

ps. did you guys see the launch line up, almost every game will be releasing along side the 360 version, with the exception of 2 to 3 games.

In all honesty, that controller is wack and outdated, it dosent even look compatible with the system. But all the sony fans demanded that sony stay with that duel shock controller. in fact the controller has digressed in the evolution process with the removal of the rumble.
What you have now is a ps1 controller with a motion gimmik. I dont care what anybody says, you cant just drop rumble tech, you push it or take it to the next level in the evolution phase. I don't blame sony,

Sony should have taken the Xbox360 Design (or similar) added the tilt (from Nintendo) gave it the shiny PS3 finish. This would have been the ultimate controller. The fact that they went with the horseshoe controller in the first place shows that they wanted to make a change. However I don't blame PS users for not wanting that thing that they first introduced, it looked like garbage from the start. (Thank god for third party manufacturers).

Showing the guy, 60 feet away using the controller is lame, unless some of you have living rooms and bedrooms so large that you need a 100+ " plasma to see from one side to the other. The standard viewing distance for a plasma tv are 40" 10 feet, 45" 11.25 feet,
50" 12.5 feet, 55" 13.75 feet, 60" 15 feet.

Showing him across the room was irrelavent.

Sony seems to copy the things they hate the very most. And Fanboys act like this new or some sh1t cause they never experience it before.

Everyone seems to think WiFi is such an amazing thing. As I've stated before, I believe that most people with cable internet have a cable jack in their living room, near the TV. What's the point of most people using WiFi if their PS3 is in the living room 3 feet from the cable modem? Unless of course, you happen to have a TV in your room on the other side of the house which is better than the TV in the living room.

WiFi is great for mobile devices, I actually have a good WiFi connection at home using my Toshiba notebook computer.....but even the best WiFi connections tend to have more connection interruptions(drops) than cable connections, especially when playing online.....I have both but the cable connection is waaaaay better for console online gaming.

I Love your logic. No need for WiFi if its supposed to be the best thing in the living room. Wifi is good but when it comes to online nothing beats a Hi-Speed cable or T1 Line. Also If you can Type on this forum with your PC then sufing the net with a PS3 is Obsolete. One Word PS3 Fanboys........... Viruses.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
