IGN gets their very own PS3 to play with and we get to read all about it...
"...first things first then. Yes, it looks every bit as imposing as it does in the photos you've undoubtedly seen. With its sleek curves, see-thru hood and delicate metallic flourishes, the PlayStation 3 is clearly a machine designed to dominate your front room, screaming "I AM THE FUTURE OF HOME ENTERTAINMENT!" at anyone in the vicinity. Of course, as with Sony's other high-concept gaming beauty, it's also prone to lose its impressive lustre within minutes if you're of a sticky-fingered inclination. Or, in our case, thirty people who really should be doing some proper work raid the PS3 party to caress, ogle and tease the thing in pure, schoolboy-ish excitement. And - just in case you were wondering - yes, the front-mounted PS logo DOES rotate to accommodate both your horizontal and vertical storage requirements..."

Square Enix launches Final Fantasy X 25th anniversary site, revealing new Nomura art, books, music releases, and merchandise.
Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.
They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

A brutal reset, a smarter story, and a return to what made it great—Mortal Kombat (2011) revived the series.
15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.
Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.
More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.
Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.
All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
Just wanted to get a post in before theMART sullies the comments. Interesting preview, a bit more of the same, but new pictures. Pictures shiny. ;)
yeah, i found their opinion about the controller to be a bit disturbing. but when they admitted that they didn't really like the PS2 controller either, my fears were assuaged...a little. i myself found the PS2 controller to be about as perfect as you can get...next to the 360's controller. i figured it'd be light (with no vibration device), but i was a bit confused by their thoughts on the shoulder buttons. i didn't really see why their convex design should be all that problematic. maybe not as comfortable as the 360's concaved buttons, but nothing to merit a serious flaw.
all in all they seemed pretty impressed by the PS3 as a whole. i myself can't wait until January, when i'm getting mine (figured i'd wait a bit so Sony can work out all the kinks).
"Feels like the PS2 conntroller". I like it. It's a worldwide standard
That was a great article. They pointed out the good side and bad of what they experienced and gave a lot of useful information that I haven't heard so far. It was refreshing that they didn't mention any gameplay and just focused on the machine. I will be looking for the gameplay article they had also been producing though.
I have mixed views about the controller. I loved the PS2 Dual-Shock but there is room for improvement for sure. I am anxious to test it out.
"Interface-wise, we've still got a lot of unanswered questions. For example, what happens when you stick a DVD, PS1 or PS2 disc in the machine? Well, as of right now nothing - the debug unit Sony's demoed to us still features slightly outdated firmware, meaning the machine flatly refuses to play anything other than Blu-Ray discs. Similarly, all attempts to connect our PSPs and Cyber-shot digi-cams to the console were met with resounding indifference. However, we'll be getting our hands on an updated version of the machine imminently, so rest assured we'll be probing even deeper next time around."
they also seem to hate the joypad, which is a little harsh from professional game players and the guide button is currently a fancy off button...
