5 DUST 514 features that many don't know about

An explanation of 5 features that gamers need to know about and use if they want to be more successful in DUST 514.

Emilio_Estevez4813d ago

Cool post, I didn't know about the last one and I've been playing it for quite a while. I do wish randoms I squad wirh would set objectives though, so much more points for everyone in the squad.

andibandit4813d ago

Didnt think anyone was still playing it

Emilio_Estevez4813d ago

C'mon now...There are tons of people playing it. My corp alone has over 100 people on at most times of the day.

younglj014813d ago

Wow didn't know about the last one....

Ghostbob4813d ago

@andibandit
DUST 514 has thousands of people playing.

Emilio_Estevez4813d ago (Edited 4813d ago )

I would gather his opinions are based off a few times playing and honestly don't blame him. I did the same thing when I got into the beta in April, but decided to give it another go some time later. There is such a huge learning curve that a lot of people just give up before seeing the massive depth that is there.

That said, anyone can feel free to PM me for some help. If you're thinking about signing up then I can give a link for free in game stuff too.

What's Dust 514? I know that might sound like a weird question but I've never heard of it before.

Sometimes things fly under the raider, it happens.

I'll give explaining it shot.

Dust 514 is a F2P MMOFPS set inside the EVE online universe. They fight in space and the Dust players (Mercs) fight for control of the planets. Actually fighting for planets coming soon - http://n4g.com/news/1208474

You get skill points and ISK (in game currency) for playing. SP is used to skill up your merc like in RPGs - buying skills and leveling them up. Buying and leveling up skills allows you to buy better stuff. ISK is used to buy weapons, suits and modules (kind of like perks - +10% damage, +66 shields, etc...) for said suit. When you die all of those things go with you so managing ISK spent vs ISK won is a major mechanic of the game. The suit determines how many of each kind of module you can place on the suit and what role you'll have on the battlefield.

Heavies carry big guns and have lots of armor, but are very slow and can't carry any equipment.

Assault is the jack of all trades kind of class with everything about it kind of being right in the middle.

Scout is very fast with higher shield regen so they can get away quickly. A lot of people use shotguns with a scout suit.

Last, but not least the Logistics (my class). The logi is the helper on the battlefield. These suits have more equipment slots so they can revive fallen teammates, repair their armor, and give ammo (along with a few other options)

If your gonna DL it then sign up here so you can get some Blueprint Original items when you start, they don't get destroyed in battle.

this should be interesting.

Findingcrybabies3762d ago (Edited 3762d ago )

wow. that's messed up. I don't play the game, but shutting it down and then a month after that showing your replacement game after you told the community screw you. LOL. Remind me to never support or play a CCP game. There are games that came out many years before this one and the devs keep the servers up for people.

samden3762d ago

It's on an old console and was nearly dead in the water when it launched. Not much of a community left to anger. Quite frankly, it sucked, and I'm excited to see what the next one will bring.

Tony-Red-Grave3762d ago

From launch to death Dust was only really ever a poor mans M.A.G. God I miss M.A.G and Valor.

Pongwater3762d ago

Dust 514 was free so I don't see your point, but I do find your name ironic.

@Tony - Yeah I still wish for MAG2, or even a PS4 remaster of MAG.

evergrace3762d ago

One of the worst shooter games on ps3.

noxeven3762d ago

I remember them saying it was supposed to contribute to eve and everyone was up in arms and that never happened and it just fell to the way side

Pongwater3762d ago

I'm not sure enough people ever played DUST 514 to say "everyone was up in arms", but there were in fact cross play battles between EVE and DUST.

It was a cool concept with some sizable flaws, but I'd be interested in a sequel that addressed some of those flaws. I thought I heard there was a PS4 version coming, but maybe that's my imagination.

tanukisuit3762d ago

It was definitely ambitious given the tech involved and how late into last gen we were. They tried though and cross gameplay is getting more relevant, so I think not all was lost...

Player-created DUST514 Trailer Calls For EVE:Phoenix

DUST514 players create EVE:Phoenix trailers as part of their #PortDUST514 campaign.

Since the announcement of the DUST514 sequel EVE:Legion by CCP Games at FanFest 2014, there has been an almost eerie silence about the project from the game’s creators. Domains and trademarks were registered, and later left expired, for the EVE:Legion brand, and the player base was left watching as no actual news or progress updates were given by CCP, even at the various player-gatherings or CCP’s own FanFest 2015.

The players of DUST514, both past and current, have rallied under a banner, #PortDUST514, led by Ripley Riley, and are using this hashtag on social media to highlight that there is still a desire for a sequel or a port of the game to a more recent platform than the Playstation 3.
Most recently, this has resulted in the players creating propaganda posters and “memes”, and even voiced trailers, for what they themselves have named EVE:Phoenix.

The player Pokey Dravon, with the help of several other players, created this trailer for the campaign.
