DualShock 3 for GT5 Prologue

Sony's new DualShock 3 controller will be arriving on April 15th, just in time for the North American release of Gran Turismo 5: Prologue! The DS3 is the official wireless controller for the PlayStation 3 to feature "rumbling" vibrations without wires, and will go on sale for $54.99. I'm sure that most of us remember how much the original DualShock controller changed the gaming experience in the original Gran Turismo, and it's great to see this essential feature come back as the series moves onto the new console.

but personally I can't stand rumble. I like my 360 controller better but the PS3 is so close because it is so light, with rumble it will only add weight. Personally I turn the rumble off on my 360 controllers. I don't think vibrating my controller add's anything to a video game.

MikeGdaGod6657d ago (Edited 6657d ago )

in games like Resistance, where so many things are going on around you, it's hard to know when you're actually getting hit. i think of it like the motion controls, its good in small bursts.

i already have a DS3 and it really does make a difference, at least to me. games like SuperStarDust HD are alot better with just this small addition.

and the new controller feels really good now with the added weight. the SIXAXIS controller is just a little too light. the DS3 is still really light, there's times when even i can't tell which is which. i use the DS3 even with games that aren't patched for it yet.

kamisama6657d ago

I already have my (White) DS3 and i love it guess ill get another one when it comes out in the U.S. personally i love rumble so Yay! for the ds3

BlaST_ProCesSiNG-6657d ago

for those who already have a DS3... are the joysticks any different,
Or are they the same quality as those on the Sixaxis? Do they feel like the DS2?

Blaine6657d ago

I don't have one, so I guess I shouldn't be answering your question, but I believe they're the same. Except for rumble, of course. Everything else remains unchanged, as far as I know.

BlaST_ProCesSiNG-6657d ago (Edited 6657d ago )

I'll be so f**** pizt if they don't upgrade the quality of the joysticks. I'm tired of em sticking to the left & right. I've had two controllers do this to me. NO WAY I'm buying a controller 4m Sony if this goes unfixed. Im sure there will be some good controllers made by 3rd parties that will not have this problem.

ruibing6657d ago

I already pre-ordered a DS3 on Amazon for only $49.99.

it feels exactly like the SIXAXIS to me but with a little added weight. i love it and use it even when i'm playing games that aren't patched yet for it.

@1.2...... i don't know about the problems you stated, but i haven't had any joystick issues with either. i can say that the issues with the controllers disconnecting are almost completely fixed. (i say almost only because i've only had the controller since December. but i haven't noticed that issue...........yet.)

ELite_Ghost6656d ago

yea the weight is much different, you'll think that the sixaxis is bullshit because it's so much lighter, the rumble works really well
for ex: Burnout, when you're driving on dirt, the controller starts to rumble...

$60 for a controler? Thats the same price as a game. Think I'll skip.

Chug6657d ago

DS3-$54.99

360 controller-$49.99 + Play & charge kit $19.99 = $69.98

ruibing6656d ago

It's actually available as preorder for only $49.99 on Amazon right now.

Blaine6657d ago

GT deserves a racing wheel! It's great that the DS3 is coming out and all, but it's not for GT.

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle32d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

Final Fantasy VIII is great and you are always the first to defend it in the comments

"Gaming’s Biggest Fighting Franchise"

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

DarXyde38d ago

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

Soy39d ago

And then MK1 killed it again.

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

PlayStation legend Shuhei Yoshida says Jim Ryan fired him because he didn't listen to him

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.

Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.

Cacabunga40d ago

It should be free highway for him now.. but Sony are too stupid to see this, especially that moron Hulst

S2Killinit40d ago (Edited 40d ago )

Wtf why all that anger. PlayStation is dominating on every level. Besides I think there is a little more to hiring a CEO than just who is available. Its not like its a athlete your team wants to buy.

neutralgamer199239d ago

S2Killinit

live service failures, chasing trends, closing studios. yes dominating

Cacabunga39d ago

Sony is Dominating because competition is not existing. Compared to previous gens this is the poorest in terms of software offerings.

Last gen we got Uncharted 4 Lost Legacy and TLOU2 from ND alone.

This is so far a remasters gen, with no competition to lift up the quality

1nsomniac39d ago (Edited 39d ago )

..."PlayStation is dominating on every level"....

...Really???

PlayStation are soon heading into a new generation in the not to distant future. They currently have the worst customer satisfaction they've ever sustained as a company. The company is heading for a huge crash while at the same time they'll need to be planning how they are going to try and win back that favour and the build up to their new releases.

Yes financially they're winning but they're going to have to ride out this complete public corporate disaster. No one has faith in the company or the product anymore. They've damaged their public image so much this generation. Greed can kill anyone.

medman39d ago

Hulst is a disaster......

He would've done the same thing and fire Jim Ryan and Shuhei would be the villain. Why?
Because Elite creates the narrative and distraction for gamers, users and citizens.

Outside_ofthe_Box40d ago

More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.

robtion39d ago

Yep. Yoshida was responsible for bringing one of the best games of this generation to playstation (Stellar Blade). He is an actual gamer and is in touch with what gamers want (creative, fun games, not GaaS and agenda pushing). He also seems like a genuinely nice guy if you watch some interviews. Of course they got rid of him.

darthv7240d ago

Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.

Agent7540d ago

Microflop. After Windows XP and Xbox 360, it all went floppy.

S2Killinit40d ago

Floppy 😆
No pun intended

badz14940d ago

Yoshida for President! Jim Ryan was and always be a hack! Sony should get Shu back

Lightning7740d ago

All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
