Most of you have probably never heard of Penumbear unless you’re familiar with the indie iOS scene. When developer Taco Graveyard set out to develop a puzzle platformer involving a cute bear with a scarf that deals with the separation of light and dark as though it were a hard surface, they had an ambitious project on their hands. Does Penumbear shine as brightly as the sun or should it be left in the darkest recesses of the castle? Let’s find out.

John Bedford (Modojo): There's something for everyone in today's bargain round-up.

PadGadget: Penumbear is a unique-looking platformer. It’s dark and dreary with a haunting soundtrack, but focuses on the usage of light to get through various obstacles, which is a great concept. The game stars Penumbear himself, who is a little bear that wakes up in a dark castle basement.

TouchGen: Darkness is one half of our world, and we fear what we cannot see hidden beyond the light. This is where Penumbear is plunged. Somewhere far down in the darkest basement where light is a memory, and only a few scattered fireflies keep it from disappearing completely. With the power to unlock doors, and flicking switches these fireflies become the most important allies Penumbear has ever had. His quest to escape this dark, dangerous and evil castle is just beginning.
