The Wii U is not doomed, and GameDwellers explores the reasons as to why the console will do fine.

The rejection is non-final (and even when such rejections are labeled as “final”, the process is far from over, given that there can be, at minimum, an appeal to the Federal Circuit).
Good, as they should! A game mechanic like that shouldn't be locked behind a patent, and Nintendo didn't invent it either.
Nintendo wants to keep wasting money on bullshit lawsuits, real smart in this economy. They should put that money aside for other game projects. On the other hand, I don't care if they waste it all either, and they are screwed in the future maybe that will teach them a lesson.

Nintendo completed its share repurchase and set its secondary offering price at 8,347 yen ahead of March 16 delivery.

Nintendo filed a lawsuit in the United States Court of International Trade.
Nintendo of America is suing the United States government over the sweeping tariffs President Donald Trump put in place last year, according to a complaint filed Friday in the U.S. Court of International Trade and obtained by Aftermath.
LOL I read this on gaff, will they refund the money back to the gamers? highly unlikely. Didn't they just raise prices and pass it onto the gamers? Only Nintendo would send out the Ninjas to the US government.
"Why the Wii U is not doomed"
Because Nintendo still have a rather large consumer base and even though many of them have yet to of purchased a Wii U (myself included) they will no doubt eventually, especially when more big 1st party Nintendo titles come out and 3rd party titles such as Monolith soft's X and Platinum games Bayonetta 2.
It's unfortunate how many people disregard the Wii U as a bad console.

Premium owners get 10% cash back on all digital purchases (credit goes towards eshop points, and it's only for a limited amount of time)
I'll be honest - I favor Nintendo over the other companies, though I'll never belittle the competition, ''just cause.'' If there's a valid reason why certain gaming company's don't float boats (metaphorically writing), then negative criticism can be totally valid of that said company(s). What urks me are comments like, ''this system is garbage, and you all know it!'' running rampant in the N4G, getting up votes and people getting rewarded for it.
There should be a standard; juvenile, ''haha, the system sux! xD'' comments demean this community and gamers as a whole. I've seen (read, actually) way too many influential Debbie Downers for my liking - let's reformat N4G into a place that isn't tagged with drive-by trolling, but with people who enjoy games and understand the concept of the word ''debate'' without resorting to immature behavior.
Just waiting on that certain Sony fangirl to show up any second now...
I suppose I could be called a Sony fanboy, but I want the WiiU to succeed. Competition is always healthy and good for the consumer.
