Cracking Up Over Cracked Cases

Cases. Those incredibly thin, green plastic cases. It’s what protects your game from dust and scratches. When you ship your game, it’s the case that’s supposed to save the disc from cracking in two. Cases are there to protect your game. Cases are a secondary, some might say, tertiary part of the gaming experience. Cases are something you rip open to get to the game itself. After all, you play the disc, not the case. And yet some people treat their game cases as if they were the game itself.

I buy new and used games and I do not believe in true collector. I do not like steel cases, but I also do not believe that makes me any less of a collector. If there's a word that best describes me that would be a custom collector. I hate thin cases, so I replace them. I hate steel cases, so I sell them and replace them with original cases. I hate BW manuals, so I replace them with the color manuals that are only present in LE. As a collector, I prefer the much organize and space efficient approach. I like to see a specific order in my collection. In all honesty, a lot of the LE items are not that well packaged or designed.

I'm the same way. I don't see why you need to fork out ridiculous amounts for games that come with giant plastic statues and art books to be considered a collector. Some are pretty cool, but they are also getting way too expensive for my taste.

I buy new and I buy used, as long as the case, disc, and manual don't show any signs of damage beyond a little expected wear and tear. And I'm not a fan of all those big, elaborate special editions. I just want a copy in a plastic case I can stick on my shelf along with all my other games.

The way I see it, as long as you're collecting something, you're a collector.

I like being selective. If I find a CE or LE that is worth the money I pay for, then I will order it. If it isn't, then why waste 150 dollars for a lamp (metal gear rising) to prove I'm a true collector. it takes up space and I don't need it. If you don't like the flimsy case, then change the damn case simple as that (rent games at ebgames, switch the eco cases with original cases).

Edit: I also don't get why people even like steel cases as I never really considered them to be anything special, so I always ended up selling them at ebay for big bucks. Once you get a scratch on the steel case, it's pretty much gone for good.

I only have one steel case and I love it. It is for MW3.

I have a pretty nice collection, closing in on 250 Xbox 360 games alone. I don't like the eco friendly cases that they've come out with, the games can crack because there is no support on the back. I've had to rebuy games because of that.

I have about 20 steel book cased games as well, all the Halo's and Gears games of course.

BuffMordecai4764d ago (Edited 4764d ago )

Yeah, the eco box is most retarded case design I've ever seen. If they are trying to use less plastic it would make sense to chop off the top and bottom of the case, but no, we'll cut out sections of plastic out where you place the disk, leaving it vulnerable. It is beyond moronic.

As a collector, and a gamer in general, I have avoided Xbox like the plague. Buy quality. Buy Japanese.

Video Game Stocks Plunge on Fears Google's Genie 3 Will Replace Game Engines

When Google unveiled Genie 3, an AI that generates explorable 3D worlds from simple text prompts, investors responded by dumping video game stocks en masse—wiping out billions in market value in mere hours. But in their rush to flee, Wall Street confused "playable environments" with actual video games, ignoring the technology's hard limits while threatening the human creativity that makes games worth playing. As the industry faces a future of automated mediocrity driven by shareholder demands, the panic reveals a deeper truth: investors aren't betting on better games, just cheaper ones.

same level of fear that gen ai will replace art ... it is a tool that will help to prototipize open world games, but to completelly substitute game engines ... we are still a long way from it

Duplicate story. Or does Christopher just remove xbox stories that are similar?

Humans have been developing things to simplify jobs since the beginning.
AI is going to remove the human factor from the job, but it can never replace all jobs that need a human factor.
I wish I could see the end of the story. What is the end, end goal, final piece, etc.
Is it a world run by machines, do humans live in a free world, does a dictator finally have an robot army, do humans finally free of working forever, does ChatGPT create an army to defeat Gemini., so many possibilities …
