Nowadays, the developers prefer to call it a "team-based action game," because the original description, per lead designer John Comes, "made people think there's a lot of button-mashing or combos involved." What Demigod has is a lot of stuff from other genres: the use of armies from a real-time strategy game, the leveling of characters from an RPG, the intricate arenas of a fighting game, the fast pace of an action game, and the cooperative mentality of a team-play game.
