Time 'Will Solve' Wii U Development Quality Gap

IGN - New consoles routinely experience growing pains, and the clearest measure of this comes in the visual quality of the video games that come to store shelves. Nintendo is currently seeing that quality gap in the games that come to Wii U, but it's a problem that company president Satoru Iwata believes "time will eventually solve."

Funny things is, I don't recall ever hearing this much statement coming from Iwata in one month.

PopRocks3594893d ago (Edited 4893d ago )

He did a Q&A. Now people are quoting him all over the place.

EDIT: I mean people will take bits and pieces of that and analyze that particular part of it. Which shouldn't happen because if the original interview has been posted, then the quotes should be opinion pieces or counted as duplicates.

Poor Iwata..the guys is being pulled in all directions.

talk the talk, walk the walk.

Just like so many home consoles lol

Nintendo needs to ignore negative press and just get to making a true 3D Mario, Zelda, Mariokart etc..in stunning HD and the console will sell itself. No other console has these fantastic games.

The CPU is underpowered no matter how you try to spin it, and seeing how it's practically 3 modified Wii CPU's made into 1, and how the Wii's CPU was a modified Gamecube CPU, I don't understand why Gamecube compatibility isn't there, but whatever.

Everything else about the Wii-U is just fine, and make it a worthy successor to the Wii, and I'm looking forward to seeing more games from Nintendo and all the Big 3's E3 conferences.

The GPU is not fine, nor is the RAM.

Then go and play Hardware
Let gamers enjoy N software

MasterCornholio4893d ago (Edited 4893d ago )

I enjoy playing hardware and its called the PS3 which has excellent software.

Sorry but not all gamers want to play N games.

PS: What i mean by this is that not all gamers want to play games made by Nintendo which is one of the reasons why i own a PS3 is because of the mutiplats (not available on the Wii) and Sonys first party franchises like God of War and Uncharted for example.

@delboy if N software mean just mario, zelda then i rather stick with my Ps3 Pc and xbox and play hardware

How is this a worthy successor? Why are Nintendo fans okay with mediocrity? This is the system that should have been released in 2007 not 2012-2013.

ABizzel14893d ago

OMG. It doesn't matter what I say, there's someone who's going to condemn me about MY OPINION on the Wii-U.

The Wii-U is a worthy successor to the Wii, because it's a leap up from what Nintendo did with the Wii. The Wii was basically Gamecube 1.5, but the Wii-U is actually a leap up form what the Wii was.

It's clear now what Nintendo's strategy is Innovate at a entry price. The Wii-U could have been better and should have been better given the options of low-end parts available at the time of it's unveiling. But what's there (outside of the CPU) is a step up from the current gen PS360, and is about what I expected from Nintendo.

After the DS vs. PSP, the Wii vs. PS360, and the 3DS vs. PSV. It's clear Nintendo's focus is on affordable products that they can profit off of Day 1, so with that expectation I wasn't disappointed by the Wii-U.

The GPU in the Wii-U is better than the PS360 and Wii-U games will look better (Xenoblade is an example), but the PS360 will be "smarter" console since they have superior CPU's.

Time will solve the issue of gimped hardware in an increasingly competitive marketplace where the average cellphone runs technological circles around the Wii U?

Okay.

Time to come with the nice men in the white coats Iwata. They have Koolaid, and checkers at noon.

Best 2D, Mario World, best 3D, Mario 64. Can't say there's been a bad one, although Mario World 2 wasn't a true sequel. The Mario Land games were good (not the first one) and also Wario Land. I thought after Mario 64, Mario 3D World was excellent.

Interview: Patricia Summersett on voicing Princess Zelda for nearly a decade

Believe it not, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is almost ten years old.
