Microsoft's Japan-only Blue Dragon bundle

Microsoft has put together this sweet, Japan-only Blue Dragon bundle that probably ain't gonna do much to enhance the company's bottom line (read: it's likely subsidized), but will (they hope) juice the 360's pitiable sales in that country.

kmis877158d ago

Couldn't they do a bundle with the premium version so Japanese gamers don't have to get the crappy version and then find out they have to buy an hdd separate. But I guess for $250 you can't complain that much.

eques judicii7158d ago

well.. even if they buy the hdd separate... that's still 350... which is less than the premium. I guess with the figurines, the games, and the faceplate definitely make up for it.

kmis877157d ago

Yeah it's still a really good deal.

PS360PCROCKS7158d ago

apparently no one here noticed it but I was offended (so were the bloggers on that web page) about the reference to how us "Round eyes" won't be getting this bundle this christmas

nirwanda7158d ago

would you want a japanese RPG that won't be translated to english until 2007 besides ms need to do all that they can to win over the japanese look at it this way they have only a small selection of game avalible at the moment and most of the good stuff like oblivion ect. proberbly wont even get a release, ms need dev support from japan and the only way to get it will be to win over the people if blue dragon flies off the shelf's like pokamon has for the ds or like ff7 did for the ps1 then the dev's will make more games for the 360.
the saturn in japan out sold the ps1 until ff7 came out and actually sold more copies than there were ps1's avalible.

ScorpioKyle7157d ago

i don't think he was complaining about us not getting the bundle, but on the quote on the website about round-eyes.

One7157d ago

i realized something today, that people are
very sensitive about the way thier eyes are shaped.

Hmm it came to my attention that 360 fanboys bash PS3 with a pashion and a lot of games on the PS2 were Japan RPG's, so please tell me why all you MS fanboys are so excited about this game, especially when it looks like a cartoon, it tells me a number of things most obvious being that you are devoted to MS and will buy whatever they tell you to buy and second you are flamming PS3 for no reason, so please when i here this rubbish about the Xbox being better because of it's games, i laugh because PS3 is better because of it's games, it's obvious Xbox fanboys bash every PS3 game because they are jealous, if any console is better for games it will be buy an inch and that's not giving anyone a good reason to bash either console for that reason, both consoles got great games comming, many multi platform so guys like the Mart stop kissing MS a@s unless you are an employee and start playing your Xbox 360 like you love to boast about, because i guarentee you PS3 will be the dominant console again, no doubt about it.

THELANDSOFSAND7157d ago

well, the 360 definately has some great games coming...

the PS3...?

er...

Schmitty077157d ago

It is funny how you say that we are bashing the PS3, but not one post is.

kewlkat0077157d ago

like a sonyfanboy noob, It's funny how everyday we here the same things from the sonyfanboy goons. I wonder why he thinks his post is any different.

MS probally will not quite in japan just caus eit would be stupid to do so. Once developers start supporting the console over there with promising games like this one, I think they will be alright. This is a good start.

I've been wanted to revisit the game in the back of my mind for years and this is big. There's still a good handful of 360 games locked to the system I'd love to see now that the seal is broken on decompiling these games.

What these games need are remasters and to modern platforms. They're all unfortunately stuck on the 360.

MrBaskerville225d ago

They are available on series x as well. But would be nice to get them out even wider.

babadivad224d ago

You can play them on console. I have them loaded on my machine.

MrNinosan224d ago

Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon and FFXIII Trilogy is actually the only reason I still have my Series X.

Terry_B225d ago

Hey Phil..Why didn't remasters and pc ports happen many years ago already?

ABizzel1225d ago

Because Phil and team seem to enjoy going to websites and forums to see what fans are discussing and wanting, to earn good faith points with post like this while they continue to offer the bare minimum.

TheEroica224d ago (Edited 224d ago )

Remastered and remake games are lame... A gigantic "we don't know how to evolve original thoughts" from dev teams cashing in on old ip.... Make new stuff or gtfo.

neutralgamer1992224d ago (Edited 224d ago )

no remasters and remakes provide those games to new audiences and improve the look/gameplay

Michiel1989225d ago

you can't revive what never lived

-Foxtrot225d ago

Then…remaster / remake them

🤷🏻‍♂️

After renewed interest you can get Mistwalker to do a sequel to Lost Odyssey

jambola225d ago

Poor Microsoft could never scrape together funds to make that happen

babadivad224d ago

Is Mistwalker still a studio?

One of the best of that era. Great game, great adventure!

Kurisu980d ago

I bought this game a couple of days ago, along with Lost Odyssey, while they're on sale in the Xbox Store. I never had a 360 back in the day so I missed out on these games, so I'm glad that I'll finally be able to try them out soon on my Series S.

raWfodog980d ago

Yep, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, and Gears of War were my favorite 360 games back when they first released.

Seraphim980d ago

no doubt. To this day it baffles me when this game gets hate. Sure it wasn't as epic as Lost Odyssey, but in it's own right it was a great game.

MrNinosan980d ago

Lost Odyssey is one of the best jrpgs of that era but got killed because it was bought up and released on the "wrong" console.

repsahj980d ago

Is there a chance that Lost Odyssey will be released on PS5? I really want to play it and Blue Dragon, too.

autobotdan980d ago

Both games are owned by Microsoft

andy85980d ago

Great game. The 360 had some really good turn based games back in the day. Absolutely loved Lost Odyssey too. I think they are both Sakaguchi creations.

ZwVw980d ago

Correction. Both Blue Dragon & Lost Odyssey (as well as Infinite Undiscovery) started off as in-house developed projects that went third party after MS killed off their Japanese development studios.

andy85980d ago

Doesn't really have anything to do with what I said though 😂 Sakaguchi wrote them both

Hofstaderman980d ago

This game together with Lost Odyssey, The Last Remenant and Tales of Vesperia convinced me to buy a 360. This game made my 2007 which ended off with mass effect.

CrimsonWing69980d ago

Honestly, a fantastic game, especially if you were a fan of old-school JRPGs. I hate that this genre rarely can come back to these roots.
