I wonder what other kinds of hardware, they have a console and handheld, maybe go with cellphone or tablet?

CouldHaveYelledUiiW4774d ago (Edited 4774d ago )

In Japan, i think, they already have gone the cellphone route.

metroid324774d ago (Edited 4774d ago )

3DS U or DS U in the works i heard Myamoto say something about a nextgen handheld when asked something about 3DS so i'm thinking a 720p/1080/3D Handheld that's very slim and about half the power of WiiU with same RAM and impressive browser and OS.

Think another WiiU with 4GB of Ram ect that's what they mean by more hardware same with a new handheld it would have the required RAM to handle everything the WiiU 2GB or 4GB model could ect.

On par with vita would be rubbish the current 3ds is graphically on par in most peoples eyes its better.

stragomccloud4773d ago

I think that would create a pretty big dichotomy between owners if they changed things that much.

mrbojingles4774d ago

I wouldn't be against a 3DS successor at Holiday 2014. Even if it was basically on par with Vita in terms of hardware.

lilbroRx4774d ago

A home PC would be nice. The original Famicom was an attempt at making a small home PC.

linkenski4774d ago

I kind of hope that they're trying to heel in on Sony and MS at some point by releasing a new console halfway into the next generation, instead of by the end like with the Wii U.

stragomccloud4773d ago

Wii U is the start of next gen. I know you probably don't consider it thus, and will therefore disagree with me(as will others), however, you younger gamers need to grow up and realize Nintendo is just some brand you can beat on. They produce some of the most high quality software, and innovative hardware experience available. That said, since the Wii U will be competing with the PS4/Durango, the device is next generation.

Further more Nintendo has been around for 2 generations longer than Sony, and 3 more than Microsoft. So if you want to accurately trace console generations, you really are better off using Nintendo.

Otherwise you'll have to start doing weird things like calling Sega Genesis and SNES generation -1, and NES generation -2, and that's just weird.

isn't* some brand(noticed an error)

17M+ units in 6 months! Others on this site are insisting on only 10M units. XD

And as for Switch 1 total sales, it will only take a few months for it to surpass the 160M of PS2.

repsahj27d ago

Will Sony magically be able to dig up PS2s again to increase the 160M number when the Switch is about to surpass it? hahaha.

They already did this in 2024 because Switch 1 is getting close to 155m. They might do it again because Switch is getting close to 160M.

Dexterio27d ago (Edited 27d ago )

"And as for Switch 1 total sales, it will only take a few months for it to surpass the 160M of PS2."
Few months lol. Maybe in a few years, and if it happens, that would be a big indication that the Switch 2 is not as successful as some here wanted us to believe; people still buy the OG Switch because there is nothing exciting on the Switch 2 and it's cheaper lol.

Rage7727d ago

Too bad it took over 12 years for PS2 to reach that number (before Jim Ryan made took some more out of his ass) Does that mean people were buying PS2s becasue it was cheaper and nothing good on PS3 and almost PS4? Nice try. 🤣🤣🤣

Sgt_Slaughter27d ago

The Switch 2 is outselling the Switch 1 when compared to their first years. You can swing this anyway you want, but that doesn't change reality and sales figures.

By your own logic, every single console has released to lackluster success because people kept buying the console before it. Sony even combined PS2 and PS3 sales at one point to help negate the lackluster start of the PS3.

badz14926d ago

@Rage77

people were buying PS2s because it was cheaper and nothing good on PS3. remember that the PS3 was released in 2006, God of War 2 was released in 2007.

Destiny108027d ago

it was at 10 million when i googled it a week ago, these are fresh numbers

17 million in 6 months is crazy

repsahj27d ago

I think that number is until October only. And during the holidays, Switch 2 sold 7m+.

salis84427d ago

June 5 to December 31 is essentially seven months.

From the chart in the actual presentation.

"Cumulative global sell-through as of the 4th week of December 2025 15 million units."

"Sales Status of Hardware and Software (Sell-In) 17.37 million units."

15m Sold = sell-through

17.37m Shipped = sell-in

andy8527d ago

Itll probably get there. But at currently pace it's like a year and a half. And thats without that number declining as people get switch 2s instead

repsahj27d ago

Maybe they still can. They need to put extra effort into promotions again and release bundled promos like with
2-3 games and 1yr Nintendo online subs.

There's a lot of people who want the switch to fail for some weird reason

They took Christmas sales as a indication that the system was a flip and proceeded to celebrate prematurely

I still believe the Switch 2 is not gonna be as successful as the OG Switch. We'll see ;)

darthv7227d ago

Well... it can't be the new wiiu if it already passed it and is on track to keep selling over the next several years. It took WiiU 4 years to even get close to 14m. SW2 passed it in 6 months.

Sgt_Slaughter27d ago (Edited 27d ago )

The PS5 is showing to not reach the PS4, so you should worry about that instead.

hiawa2327d ago

That is pretty amazing. I love what Nintendo did with the Switch 2 as they fixed every issue I had with the original and it seems devs agree given the amount of 3rd party support it is receiving.

repsahj27d ago

I agree! That was their previous criticism of the Switch 1, now Nintendo has responded with the Switch 2. They still can't beat the games on console versions but the gap is massive compared to Switch 1 and ps4. For me, the end result that you see with your eyes while playing is what's important, not that you have to dissect the game and zoom in 200% to see the difference.

Levii_9227d ago

Most disappointing console i've ever bought. I regret buying it right away.

Sgt_Slaughter27d ago (Edited 27d ago )

It's a better Switch with much better graphics, third-party support, and fully backwards compatible. You knew what it would be before purchasing.

Besides, surely you were more disappointed by the PS3's launch or the Vita given how rough theirs were in comparison.

Neonridr26d ago

how is it more disappointing than the original Switch? It's an improvement in every way when you directly compare.

Sgt_Slaughter27d ago

All those clickbait YouTubers and Twitter users are going to be working overtime to try and swing this as a bad thing, when it continues to defy expectations and break records.

The Switch 2 has now outsold the Steam Deck nearly 3x over and is outselling the OG Switch by nearly 5,000,000 with half a year of sales to go for its first year.

repsahj27d ago

LOL! Specially Nintendeen. XD

MayorPauline26d ago

Apparently he was begrudgingly saying he was wrong. I'll take reddits word for it though. He ain't getting any traffic from me. I dont need him or any one like him stinking up my feed. You let in one grifter and the algotherim decides to flood you with them. 😆

Nintendo Faces Fresh Labor Complaints Three Years After Union-Busting Settlement

Nintendo of America is once again facing labor complaints from one or more of its workers. Game File reports that new charges accuse the Switch 2 manufacturer of violating sections of the National Labor Relations Act dealing with worker organizing and related union activities. These come just a few years after the company settled a previous labor charge with a former tester for $26,000.
