DmC Devil May Cry - PC Performance Analysis

DSOGaming writes: "Capcom has released the PC version of DmC Devil May Cry and it’s time to see whether or not QLOC ported this console action title properly to our platform. The actual game is developed by Ninja Theory and – contrary to all previous Devil May Cry titles – is being built on Epic’s Unreal Engine 3. As a result of that, DmC Devil May Cry runs incredibly well, even on relatively low-spec PC systems, and looks surprisingly good."

It performs very nicely. The only thing I have complaints about is the texture pop-ins. It IS UE3 after all, so my complaint has no real depth to it, seeing as this is an issue with the engine(or possibly the developers); as seen on other games that use it.

Yep same here. I was actually going through Batman Arkham City again (but on pc this time) and then jumped into DmC. It's nice looking for what it is but boy am I worn out on the UE3 engine.

even if the graphics were not insanely better on pc (which of course they are), the pc version would still be the on to get just for the fact it runs at 60 or more frames per second even on mid-range, 4 year old graphics cards

add in the lack of jaggies that plauge the last gen ps3/360 and lower texture counts and much lowers resolutions and the $10 hike in price and it begs the question, why on earth would you buy this and all other multiplats on anything but pc!

i'm not even sure if i will buy the ps4/nextbox for the first few years, they certainly won't be able to do what my pc can today

but if they have enough amazing exclusives and can at least maintain 1080p with no jaggies i'll have to bite

the only reason I have any consoles is to play sony and nintendo exclusives. I also got red dead redemption, but thats it.

I'm getting A LOT Of screen tearing during the cutscenes. I have a GTX560 Ti card, i7 processor and 32GB ram. Everything in the game is maxed out. Should I disable Vsync and enable it in the Nvidia control panel?

deadfrag4838d ago (Edited 4837d ago )

scenes, cutscene, play oR run independent of the gameplay engine they were post produced. They most likely have the FMV sequences(cutscenes) not running Vsync because they were ported directly from the console versions. If you are running 1080p and the cutscenes are made for 720p you will get more screen tearing because you are not running them at native resolution,in this case the native resolution is the one from the console cutscenes 720p so even enable or force vsync in control panel will not work. And the native cutscenes in the console version have screen tearing and run in some instances below 30fps.

adorie4837d ago (Edited 4837d ago )

That's odd. I am running with a GTX 560 TI 2GB (oc'ed) 16 gb of ram OC'ed to 2133 and core i7 2700k OC'ed to 4.4 ghz. Everything is smooth as butter but the texture loading. I have 0 screen tearing. Also, are you sure you have Vsync on? I would think your setup would be doing that because it's moving more frames than your monitor can handle.

This game is leaning more towards AMD, so that could be something to note. (hopefully Nvidia breaks out the drivers for performance increase) *checks Nvidia site, just in case*

You sound like you’re just a ton of fun to be around.

franwex374d ago

It’s been sitting in my backlog for a while now. One of the first games I wanted to try for this current gen due to the long load times of previous gen. I’ll get around to it soon!

One of the best, stylish, and fun action slasher on the system. You definitely should get to it, as soon as you can.

solideagle373d ago

they are taking way too much time with DMC6...

VersusDMC373d ago

The DMC5 team went on to make Dragons Dogma 2, the DMC director (3,4,5) left capcom to make an action game at another studio and the rumor is that a DMC remake is next...so i wouldn't hold my breath on DMC6.
