Oprainfall Origins: Dragon Force

Oprainfall writes: "Dragon Force was not the first game I ever played, nor was it the game that got me into my favorite genre of games. But it was the first game that I found myself playing for hours on end – losing track of time, forgetting to eat, putting off sleep, ignoring friends and schoolwork alike. If that’s not a defining game for a “hardcore gamer,” I don’t know what is."

I LOVED Dragon Force, I also used to play it for hours. It definitely deepened my love for JRPGs. The Saturn had such a great line up. This game was probably third best, behind shining force 3 and Panzer Dragoon Saga.
It's nice to see such appreciation for the Saturn era games, if only Sega could get through their thick skulls that some of these gems belong on PSN/XBLA even without an HD face lift.
Gamers should unite to vote for re-release of these games.

Why Sega won't put SF3, Dragon FOrce, or PD Saga on the PSN network is beyond me. They could at least make a compilation for the Saturn for all the systems!

End of Line.

I'm equally baffled, the titles we just mentioned are sold in the hundreds for a new copy, except for PD saga that's worth more than a couple hundreds new or used...baffled as frack!

Dragon Force 1 was a game like no other!

Fullmetalevolust4864d ago

Dragon Force is in a league of its own. To play it is to understand it.

I own a sega Saturn just for this game. I really wish a remake would be put out there.
I own a sega genesis for Warsong and Herzog Zwie.

Any strategy fan should play these awesome titles, no questions asked.

Pretty much any game made by Working Designs in the mid 90's was gold. In my opinion their LUNAR series surpasses any of Square's efforts on the SNES or PSX, it's just too bad so few people actually owned a Sega CD and missed out on their games.

Love this game and I still have it.

DONT EVEN TEASE ME LIKE THAT, DAMN IT! i saw dragon force, instantly got all giddie. this was the top reasons to own a saturn (that, shining force, panzer dragoon). i was looking for a psn realease date, or atleast a vita re-release LOL.

Games that should have had sequels (Part 3)

Chalgyr's Game Room writes:

Over the last couple of days, we have had a couple of the members of the team submit their list of games that they wish had gotten sequels. To cap off the week, I thought I would go ahead and share my own list of titles that I really would have liked to see live on just a bit longer.

Heavenly Sword

This was one of my first PlayStation 3 games when I purchased my system, and I absolutely loved it. Was the game flawed? Certainly, but it was also a lot of fun. The visuals were excellent, the combat was engaging. Sure, it felt like a God of War clone, but a lot of other titles have tried to mimic the popular God of War series and few of them did it as well as Heavenly Sword did. Add in a handful of extras and an excellent voice cast, and this was one that I always hoped we would see a sequel to, but never received.

Heavenly Sword definitely deserves a sequel, I have a friend who rarely plays games but she Loves Heavenly Sword. As much as I personally enjoyed HS, it made me realize female protagonists are important for relatiblilty. Looking forward to Hellblade.

Bolts3916d ago

Definitely Heavenly Sword.

Singularity, Vanquish, Condemned 3, Alan Wake, Bad Company 3, Heavenly Sword amongst others

Ten classic Sega franchises that deserve a comeback

Matt Keil of G4@Syfygames writes:

"Once, Sega was a powerhouse publisher in the video game industry. For years, they were the only ones able to challenge Nintendo toe-to-toe, and they were the most dedicated to bringing the arcade experience home to console players. While Sega continues to put out quality games today, like the Yakuza series and Alien: Isolation, many venerable games from the glory days languish in limbo, waiting for a chance to shine on the HD stage of the modern gaming generation. Here are ten classic Sega franchises that deserve a comeback."

How GTA Became the Dragonforce of Gaming

Hardcore Gamer: Rockstar remains one of the classic innovators of gaming, letting loose an expansive, free-form-mission mentality that would pioneer the success of the “open-world” genre. Grand Theft Auto is the crown jewel of that kingdom. It’s an international phenomenon and one of the most important game series of all time. With Grand Theft Auto V, Rockstar made the biggest open world of its kind, but despite its commercial success, the developer is simply giving into its own very hazardous addiction. Grand Theft Auto V simply exacerbated the recurring issue that has been plaguing the series since Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, an issue that is continuing to drain the studio’s credibility in making top-shelf open world games.

For real... I guess that it's better than the Crocodile Dundee of gaming?

Skyrims world is so well designed. Love how the different regions blend into each other seamlessly and the terrain is slowly evolving right in front of your eyes in walking speed.
