GameCloud Review | Spec Ops: The Line

On the surface, Spec Ops: The Line may appear to be just another shooter. It looks and plays the part perfectly, but nothing could be further from the truth. This is an experience that portrays the reality of war in a shockingly realized way, and questions what truly makes a hero. When the story finally comes to it’s conclusion, you will need to take time to reflect on what has happened. It might not be a perfect game, but in my eyes I would dare to say it takes the games industry’s first step into the realm of films such as Apocalypse Now & Memento.

I've been hearing quite a lot about this game recently, but I wasn't too sure. After reading this review, I think I might go and give it a shot. Seems like my type of game! :)

Be ready for a great story that will make you go ponder about life and take a month break from everything, learning to appreciate life even more and how fragile it is, forgetting your very own self...Ok maybe thats a bit much, the story is the best part of the game, nuff said.

It's definitely a unique game, and well worth your time. Thank you for taking the time to read my review and visit the site! :)

It's a really good looking site, I like how clean you've kept it. I will be sure to keep an eye out for your future reviews!

very underrated game
along journey and TWD and Max payne
this was one of the best stories of 2012

TiberusX874901d ago (Edited 4901d ago )

Journey & The Walking Dead were the first two reviews I wrote for the site, so I can definitely agree with you there! TWD is also my personal GOTY.

In regards to Max Payne, I thought the story was fantastically written. However, I struggled to get past some of the design choices. Still a decent game though.

One of the best game narratives around.

Torrents are there. I actually have the original CD's from NOLF 2, never going to part with them.😁

3D Dot Game heroes. Good luck

__y2jb459d ago

I have this. Never even realised it had become rare.

staticall458d ago

@Cacabunga
While i have a disc with the game, i was able to find it on a torrent ru tracker with at least 3 people seeding right now and it was downloaded 450+ times.

I wouldn't send a link (so i wouldn't get banned). But, i think, torrent or P2P are probably the last mostly reliable way to find old games no one cares about. I was able to find «Fable» there. Not the Lionhearts' Fable, but very old point-n-click adventure.

Need NOLF Remaster from Nightdive.

PRIMORDUS458d ago

NOLF 1+2 remaster for me = instant buy

Abnor_Mal459d ago

I still have my PS3 copy of Spec Ops, Battlefield Bad Company 1&2 & Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1/2.

Planning to replay those and a few others, but the controls feel so loose now compared to modern games.

Change the title to: Amazing Games That Have Been Abandoned by Stupid Publishers Who Don't Care About their Legacy, so You Should Pirate and Enjoy them.

Okay, maybe that title was a bit too long. 😅

NotoriousWhiz459d ago

Amazing abandoned games that you should ARRRR.

DafunkyRebel459d ago

I missed out on the chance to buy BFBC1 on Xbox and I just want to kick myself silly. One of the best PS3 experience of my life. The feeling, impact, sound design of this game was leagues better than BF games that followed

TorpeAlex459d ago

Pour one out for Transformers Devastation

I lost my physical copy in a move, it still bothers me to this day 😅😔

Spec Ops: The Line was super dark.

Incredible story.

SheenuTheLegend833d ago

all the games in the above list are bang on. this is the only reason we need backwards compatibility and physical presense of games for the upcoming future, no matter what.

Yi-Long833d ago

Honorable mention to the excellent Driveclub, one of the best racing games of all-time and one of my favourite games ever.

melons833d ago

yes! incredible rain effects; so good to drive along in rain with your Spotify playlist blaring

Skuletor833d ago

I really wanted a MotorStorm using the same engine, Driveclub is easily one of the best looking games on PS4 and I'm surprised they didn't even give it a PS4 Pro patch.

ravens52833d ago

Yes indeed. May just install it on my PS5. You know, physical copy and all.

monkey602833d ago

I adored Driveclub and the Bike expansion. I also loved Motorstorm. Evolution shutting down was a crime

Outrun Online Arcade, Sega Rally Online Arcade, After Burner Climax... all good stuff. I keep my 360 hooked up to play these as well as the TMNT games that were also delisted.

Skuletor833d ago

I have quite a few of these. Timed licenses suck.

Terry_B833d ago (Edited 833d ago )

wow...I have all of them except the Nintendo ones either in physical or digital version.

Also..Deadpool the Game is missing on that list.
