Where The Hell Is Killer Instinct?

MasonicGamer.com: Where the hell is Killer Instinct 3? In fact where the hell is Killer Instinct in general? Seriously how is it that as of 2013 we’ve still yet to receive anything Killer Instinct related, no sequel and no ports of the originals. This franchise is for all intents and purposes completely dead with it’s the lastest release dating all the way back to 1996′s Killer Instinct Gold for the Nintendo 64. In order to look ahead we have to look back in order to see how this entire mess came to be.

Looking at those images brings back memories. I would gladly take a reboot to the series if NetherRealm Studios can get their hands on it.

Also, where the hell is the Bloody Roar reboot? I loved playing that game and it sucks that the studio closed. I hope one of these third party studios can buy the IP and reincarnate the game. Even if it only comes out as a digital only title to test the waters. Another game NetherRrealm Studios should reboot.

NukaCola4867d ago

100 times yes for Bloody Roar. I loved the original.

amaguli4866d ago

Hudson Soft was working on a new Bloody Roar, but that was before they merged with Konami.

zerocrossing4866d ago

Yes Bloody Roar!!! We need a reboot or sequel.

Bloody Roar 3 was my favourite but they were all great, solid brawlers.

-Gespenst-4866d ago

The music in Bloody Roar is the best thing ever. Total butt-rock, but so catchy.

Oh_Yeah4866d ago (Edited 4866d ago )

Another good question is, where the hell is powerstone 3?

Mounce4866d ago

The question isn't 'Where is Killer Instinct', you have to dig deeper.

It's....Where's the creators?. . . Aka. Rare?

The answer? Dead. Or Kinect and Avatar clothing-creators.

Rareware and their old symbol is even in the image above....They're not there and Microsoft owns them and clearly doesn't see profit in it. Shame, always.

TheRacingX4866d ago

ca ca ca ca combo breaker....

thebudgetgamer4866d ago

Rare is too busy making avatars and awesome Kinect games.

Ezz20134866d ago (Edited 4866d ago )

that's what makes me angry at MS
they know xbox fans don't bash them for the lack of exclusives and what make it worse most of those exclusives went multiplat
they don't bring any thing new to the table don't want to take risk with new ips and bury awesome ip's like KI
for kinect

sandman2244866d ago

Who ever is responsible for not allowing KI to happen need to be locked up in state prison.

TheRacingX4866d ago

I believe Nintendo owns the IP

BitbyDeath4866d ago

@TheRacingX,

RARE owns the IP, MS own RARE.

hazardman4866d ago

MS owns Killer Instincts IP which they got when they bought Rare. I think all of RARE IPs are owned by MS except Donkey Kong series.

hazardman4866d ago

Yes we need Killer Instinct and since RARE has been working exclusively on KINECT games, it would be cool if MS brought in a 3rd party dev to work on it. I think it might happen. I guess we have to wait and see.

RuleofOne343 4866d ago

Wouldn't a 3RD party want to take it multi-plat or have it as a part of a deal. it would be much easier to keep it in house like some other house than Rare & theirs will be no such thoughts of multi console sales or even interest in doing so.

hazardman4865d ago

I know what you mean but as long as MS is owner and publisher it would never go on other platform. MS would just pay said developer to make their game for them. IDK but it sounds good. haha...

yeah they were such good and fun games but they never really reached the mainstream audience. Killer Instinct was widely known and respected.

Cacabunga376d ago

Killer instinct is great, especially on snes but it’s not the most underrated fighter.. for me it’s Power Stone. So much potential in this series

Jawsh666376d ago

Bloody Roar was a game that had a sick concept but wasn’t made the best. I’d say Killer Instinct was the opposite of that, it was well made but the roster of characters were so similar to every other fighting game in that era that it ended up feeling like more of the same. I could be wrong that’s just how I remember it at the time and I played a ton of KI on SNES because it was one of the first games I owned.

PRIMORDUS376d ago

I loved this game in the arcade, my main was Jago, Ultra Combo!!! https://www.youtube.com/wat...

DivineHand125375d ago

That combo was way overkill 😂

PRIMORDUS375d ago

I know haha, I loved Jago.

Bathyj376d ago

You're kidding?
It enjoyed probably more success than it deserved.
Unlike Tobal 2

MeteorPanda375d ago

Tobal 2 was awesome. Sold really well cause art similarity to dragon ball

jjb1981376d ago

I remember trying my hardest to learn that "Ultra... Ultra.... Ultra...." finish. Such a great fighting game.

Popsicle376d ago (Edited 376d ago )

I can tell you definitely got some SNES time in. The slight differences in the ports due to hardware constraints were interesting. For example, the arcade version was Ultraaaa Coooommboooooooo! versus Ultra….Ultra….Ultra on the SNES.

Though SNES overachieved as a port for as demanding as a game KI was.The arcade version was one of the first cabinets with a dedicated hard drive and the SNES version was 32 megabyte cartridge which was huge for that system at the time.

jjb1981375d ago

Yeah, for sure. My local childhood arcade was always packed and it was hard to get a game in but once the SNES version came out, I was hooked. I can still feel the click of the power button.

Barlos885d ago

I'll have to get this! Been a big fan of KI since the very first one.

Petebloodyonion884d ago (Edited 884d ago )

I love KI (still play the old arcade version) but feel like the Xbox version is like a big intimidating chessboard with no easy way to instruct you to play chess.
The game is so deep in terms of little things to do that it makes Smash Bros melee look like a casual experience.
Honestly, doing a combo Breaker is punish/reward by itself but hey you can add a counterbreaker.
Here's what you also need to know
Breaking Shadow-linker
Instincts
Shadow counter
Auto double,
linker, manual
ender
etc,

There isn't going to be any chance of this being played at tournaments unless it appears on all platforms like all fighting games.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH888d ago

SF5 didn’t appear on all consoles and was still played at Tournaments. I’ve seen KI tournaments recently so I don’t think your opinion is accurate.
