WOW did Xbox 360 just get spanked?

Godmars2904875d ago

Anyone who thinks DmC is worthy of the DMC name, that it anything more than okay, needs to be spanked.

Welshy4875d ago (Edited 4875d ago )

Chill out and give the game a chance? I was kind of on the same boat as you when it came to Metal Gear Rising, but at the end of the day they both look like they will be great titles in their own right despite their franchise name on the box.

OT: I'm not massively surprised at this to be honest. After all Enslaved looked great on PS3 and Heavenly Sword was a gorgeous game for it's time too, so Ninja Theory are properly familiar with the PS3 more so than most 3rd party teams.

What does surprise me is the complete lack of lighting effects, shadows, and in the CCTV camera screen, completely absent textures in the 360 demo.

Time will tell whether the gold retail version will carry the same issues as the demo has for the 360.

Canary4875d ago

I fail to see why this new DMC is so controversial.

The DMC series always had garbage characters in garbage stories with mediocre art design and game direction. Their selling point was the gameplay... and -nothing- else.

It's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too soon to start whining about it.

Welshy4875d ago

@Canary

I don't see what the massive fuss is about either. When i played the demo it still felt like DMC, it played great and the art style is still alternate-reality hell/gothic.

When you actually see the game in motion i don't see what the big deal is and i love the DMC games.

Ezz20134875d ago

i thought in this time of consoles
dev would know everything about both ps3 and xbox360

but this is just one of the many reasons why most 3rd party dev this gen are the laziest devs in gaming history
instead of working on both consoles
so both get the same treat and look good
they just port their games from one console to the other
and call it a day

SonyNGP4875d ago

More like whiners need to be spanked.

Godmars2904875d ago (Edited 4875d ago )

Needless radical change when the only major issue fans were complaining about in the wake of DMC4 was more content. Not Dante going back the way Nero came and fighting the same bosses, but rather more maps and bosses. Then on top of that Ninja Theory's ego forces them to say they'll do better than the original, only to fail on a basic like lock on.

How does that not register with people trying to defend this game? How do you even attempt to present valid counter-points when you know nothing of the argument itself?

The only thing more nonsensical are the people who are now going to start lording the "superior" version of this so-so title.

I mean you're not wrong in calling prior DMC stories and plots garbage Canary, but the thing is they were entertaining garbage.

This is a try at being entertaining if not amusing:

And this is just pretentious, IMO:
http://www.youtube.com/watc...

And then again in the gameplay itself, so far as has been seen and experienced, its just not as good.

@Canary

"The DMC series always had garbage characters in garbage stories with mediocre art design and game direction. Their selling point was the gameplay... and -nothing- else"

You forgot to mention garbage dialogue to go along with its 4-game-long garbage story.

Fast, flashy, sword-and-gun gameplay was its only selling point, something, though considerably different, is still there. The "true fans" like pretending that DMC was more than that, unfortunately (considering its potential), it wasn't.

Just as I did with all the other DMC's, I'll play DmC and decide for myself if i like it or not.

Blacktric4875d ago (Edited 4875d ago )

"mediocre art design and game direction"

Being this desperate to look intelligent.

Being this ignorant to the fact that Devil May Cry 1 and 3 had one of the best art designs of the generation.

Being this ignorant to the fact that both games, again, had one of the best game direction of the generation that held gameplay over any other crap.

Yeah no, it's not. And stop acting like you know why "real fans" are mad considering you have no clue what you're talking about regarding the gameplay features and what "real fans" thought of what actual Devil May Cry games offered.

Whoa, that's surprising. PS3 is the clear winner here. Weird, considering Unreal Engine 3 and all.

Still have no interest in this trash though.

Welshy4875d ago

The Unreal Engine is a peculiar one...

I guess it entirely depends on what the devs want from it and how they actually implement it.

Some games in UE3 look terrible on PS3, most games are roughly the same as each other, then you get some stand-outs like the Batman games that just manage to make the engine look amazing.

I imagine that will be something to think about with UE4 when it becomes popularly used in future titles, to fine tune the engine to run as smoothly as possibly with all different genres, teams and platforms.

Muerte24944874d ago

topic a little bit. People have been telling Sony to drop the CELL because devs said it's too hard. This just proves my point that it really just comes down to the developers. Had Capcom handled this DMC, it would probably look better on 360. I think Ninja theory would have done better staying exclusive. It might have seems like the most logical choice at the time, but I think they've left a bitter taste in some ps3 owner's mouths. Especially since they moved away from their own engine and adopted UNreal Engine.

InMyOpinion4874d ago

@Muerte

The screenshot with the security camera looks like a typical Unreal Engine 3 case of where textures haven't loaded properly. It tends to have a delay with that sometimes, in games like Mass Effect and many other UE3 titles.

I don't see why you are getting disagrees for that comment btw.

Godmars2904874d ago

By the sound of things NT burned too much starter cash on Heavenly Sword's production, which also lent towards difficulty with CELL architecture.

But even back then they exemplified the pride and ego of devs who couldn't admit that they had issues. Could only say that they were going to shape how HD gaming was done.

Which is why they're now relying on UE3 which still has its problems.

"WOW did Xbox 360 just get spanked."

I dunno about spanked but there's some seriously missing textures and details on the cameras which is sad lol.

But the rest looks pretty even. Some of the lighting is executed better on Xbox and details on Dante's face is clearer on Xbox. That's about it though.

Lol the cameras on the Xbox screen is still laughable.

wishingW3L4875d ago (Edited 4875d ago )

not exactly. The Xbox version has better lighting (that's why it looks brighter) while the PS3 has some fog effect that the other version doesn't have.

Muerte24944874d ago (Edited 4874d ago )

Like it's made of Alluminum. Better lighting, I doubt that since Frostbite 2 (lighting intensive) engine, run better on ps3 compared to Xbox360. I don't know about LENSofTruth though, I tend to wait and see Digital FOundry's assessment.

is the 360 version really that bad? I know of the texture pop in, but 360 is having problems with that?

GSpartan7774875d ago (Edited 4875d ago )

It's not that bad. I honestly think the Xbox 360 version is still the way to go with this because it runs on stable 30FPS, while on the PS3 it drop during battles and the PS3 also experience some severe screen tearing at times.

Look at these two videos to get an idea of what I mean.

Xbox 360: http://www.youtube.com/watc...

PS3: http://www.youtube.com/watc...

If you have a PS3 and Xbox 360 and want the game for nice graphics, the PS3 is obviously the way to go. But for a much smoother experience, you'd probably want the 360. But that's up to you to do decide.

hennessey864875d ago

Say a lot about this site, you wasn't trolling and as far as I can see you was stating facts and yet 20 disagrees wow

stonecold34875d ago

ps3 version to pick up and the 360 port is not bad also

The_Klank4875d ago

Considering this is only a demo comparison somethings can be forgiven but if this is indicative of the retail release its Ps3 all the way.

Slightly off topic but which version of Enslaved looked better? The 360 or Ps3?

Might be just NT are more comfortable with Ps3.

jc485734875d ago (Edited 4875d ago )

it was a mixed, but I would say it played better on 360. There's an in depth comparison explaining how each version is developed differently. They did some interesting things with the ps3, but 360 had an overall better performance.

NastyLeftHook04875d ago (Edited 4875d ago )

this is why i always buy multiplats on ps3

(if i had a awesome pc i would buy most of them on it)

You sound like you’re just a ton of fun to be around.

franwex383d ago

It’s been sitting in my backlog for a while now. One of the first games I wanted to try for this current gen due to the long load times of previous gen. I’ll get around to it soon!

Zenzuu383d ago

One of the best, stylish, and fun action slasher on the system. You definitely should get to it, as soon as you can.

solideagle383d ago

they are taking way too much time with DMC6...

VersusDMC383d ago

The DMC5 team went on to make Dragons Dogma 2, the DMC director (3,4,5) left capcom to make an action game at another studio and the rumor is that a DMC remake is next...so i wouldn't hold my breath on DMC6.

ZeekQuattro382d ago

Everytime its on sale I think about buying it but never do. I only played the orginal and somr of 3 so I guess that's part of it.
