where's aizen sozuke with his killzown comments now and how cryengine 2 is mediocre compared to the killzone 2 engine which by the way also looks fabolous? But u have to admit, the cryengine 2 is far more technically advanced than the killzone 2 game engine in terms of future scalability and how games can get closer to photorealism, killzone takes on the more cgi look which requires far less detail on textures, so that crysis to killzone comparison is like apples to oranges especially when u consider crysis as a sandbox and killzone as a linear closed shooter, it's like comparing gta 4 to uncharted and even then crysis still boasts the very best visuals when it's on very high, and believe me crysis can be maxed out on current hardware, that myth is BS,

NO BS either ..when i was younger this is the type of gaming i dreamed of while watching rendered videos and O..M..F..G look at this sh*t i hope this gets modified for use with the cell

if sony PS3 is what they say it is then ill wait another year for devs to get deeper in the system to have this type of game play and editing tools ...My PC will cost so much to play that in a good looking way like this ..IM BLOWN AWAY

we havent seen killzone since e3, and wardevil owns all crysis dreams of in its sequel.

The second video is very impressive. The first one was shown months ago and is a tech demo for Crysis. The CryEngine2 is much more advanced than the UE3 or any other 3D engine out there. The only competitors are the upcoming Dunia which is used in Far Cry 2 and the id Tech 5 which will powered Rage.

The CryEngine2 is unmatched when it comes to lighting techs. It's the best engine for parallax occlusion mapping, subsurface scattering and ambient occlusion, especially with the screen space ambient occlusion feature. The CryEngine2 can also deal efficiently with huge maps and the Sandbox2 is one of the best SDK.

The second demo was very impressive !!

These tech demos are nothing short of amazing!

Two things though:
"Long Range View Distance" shows a view from atop an island, where you can see until the end of the island you are on, the ocean, then another island on the horizon. This view looks amazing, but much like any other game, I'd think that the island in the far distance is a no-go zone.

On the second video, did anyone else notice a few anomalies? I would occasionally focus on one balloon and would catch it in a disappearing act during mid-bounce.

I'm not trying to trash the videos at all, it's just a few observations I made.

the only reason why crysis's overrated graphics get so much publicity is because of the size, the visuals themselves are highly overrated, ps3 has some way better engines, get over the pc fanism.

Teapots and Not balloons... ..why ? i dont truly know why and withold my theory cuz i know its some facts out there somewhere

But it is common practice to use teapots in renders .. i use them in 3dsmax for test renders ..to test textures lighting raytrace and everything because in every 3d program i know of it is actually considered a " primitive" object and is made by simply clicking and dragging. in the video that single object has simply been instanced alot of times and therefor not adding too much to render time since its the exact same object over and over again kinda like they do when
testing 1000 chracters on screen ...in most cases its just 1 character instaced 999 times

so u get to test a few different aspects of a render without actually having to model anything by using primitive teapots
