Holygrenade notes that Nintendo has a massive problem for this Christmas and 2013: relating its console to everyone.

The rejection is non-final (and even when such rejections are labeled as “final”, the process is far from over, given that there can be, at minimum, an appeal to the Federal Circuit).
Good, as they should! A game mechanic like that shouldn't be locked behind a patent, and Nintendo didn't invent it either.
Nintendo wants to keep wasting money on bullshit lawsuits, real smart in this economy. They should put that money aside for other game projects. On the other hand, I don't care if they waste it all either, and they are screwed in the future maybe that will teach them a lesson.

Nintendo completed its share repurchase and set its secondary offering price at 8,347 yen ahead of March 16 delivery.

Nintendo filed a lawsuit in the United States Court of International Trade.
Nintendo of America is suing the United States government over the sweeping tariffs President Donald Trump put in place last year, according to a complaint filed Friday in the U.S. Court of International Trade and obtained by Aftermath.
LOL I read this on gaff, will they refund the money back to the gamers? highly unlikely. Didn't they just raise prices and pass it onto the gamers? Only Nintendo would send out the Ninjas to the US government.
So true. Could they not have just called it the Wii 2? It would have solved all their problems. But noooooo, they had to try to be witty.
It's not really an advertising problem... Just a lack of advertising :/ I've seen the UK TV ads via Youtube but haven't actually seen them air on TV. Then again, is it worth advertising at the minute when the console is already sold out?
I don't think the name causes many issues, advertising can easily clear up any misconceptions - there's just little point in getting that message out when they don't even have enough consoles to cater for the fans at the moment.
They must have done something right with the hype. Although few of my friends know anything specific about the Wii U, most are aware of its existence and that it's a new console with a fancy-pants controller.
For the first time since launch, I saw them in stock, both at Target, and walmart. It was strange though. The Demos were turned off at both places. The 360/PS3 Demo stations were up and running though?.? I live in So Cali.
What im hearing right now, it's causing alot of confusion among consumers. I work at a video store and we have WIIU games in stock, 90% of the time i ask them if they have a WiiU and they're like "What's that? I have a Wii so it should work right?"
And also with the latest release of the Wii mini in Canada, people think that's the latest Wiiu console. Nintendo...i don't know ; they haven't been on their A game lately.
Not surprised, didn't they also upgrade the controller on the Wii at one point and call it Wii Plus or something?
Wii - Wii Plus - Wii U
How can someone not get confused?
